Hello everyone :), we thoroughly LOVE the numerous comments and feedback being left on this video. It truly keeps us motivated that our content is being watched and appreciated. However, before (some of) you leave "nasty" comments please understand the rules of this being an ACCENT tag and not a DIALECT tag. We know that each of our countries have dialects, for example Jamaica it is patios. But the instructions of the second section was to just pronounce the word being spelled to us, not change it to our dialect. For example, it is known that in Jamaica, and sometimes Trinidad and Barbados, "caught" is changed to "ketch", "roof" is changed to "house tap", "both" is changed to "two a dem" etc. But that was not the aim of our tag. So please remember that before leaving very nasty comments. Thank you again for watching and we hope you continue to view our content! :)

In Jamaica it depends on what area you’re from which determines how you pronounce a word.

Leo Swaby My parents are from Barbados. My parents rarely speak patios unless they are around family. I can still here an accent. I was born in NYC. I choose not to learn, but I can understand patios. I grew up with Jamaicans. They speak English, but they still have an accent. Their choice of words tells me they are Jamaican unlike Caribbean Americans that learn patois from their parents, but choose to speak it when they’re among family.

Drippin Melanin Hey, thanks for your comment. She spelt the words that we were suppose to say that’s why I just pronounced the words. The point of the video wasn’t to change the words to patios. But thanks again for watching and I hope this sorts out some of the confusion🤗

I'm Jamaican from saint Elizabeth (country) and not all Jamaicans have a downtown Kingston/Spanish town accent. People from those places use a rougher and more vulgar manner of speech than us country people who are more polite and better mannered and to be quit honest, speak better standard English when we decide to do so. Patwa being our 1st manner of speech.

I feel like in Jamaica it definitely depends on where you’re from when it comes to pronunciation. Because where I’m from we say : Crayon (Cree-Yan), Almonds (Ahh-Mon), and even tho we say Angel like (Ain-Gel) we say Angelic like (An-Gel-ic).

U could look at similar CZcams vids for some ideas and do a part two. Just some constructive criticism. Keep pushing tho. 👏🏾🇯🇲
