@@1SilentRiver the sponge absorbs most of the liquid solvent that makes up the nail polish but the flakes (and glitters, since this technique fits those polishes too!) are too large so they just stay on top and keep just enough polish that they can stick to your nail. when you brush polishes like this on your nail there's only so much you can put on before the liquid part of the polish starts dripping off. you can get flakie polishes like that which are packed enough that you only need 1-2 coats (i have some small flaky duochromes in the same colors as the one in the video), but i'd guess that collection was formulated to also be worn as a topper
I love using this kind of sparser sparkly ones as toppers on shimmers or solid colors. I love how versatile they are including being able to just pack them on there like sardines with this trick.

But if I have to use a sponge to apply it opaque,why can't I Scream nails just show honestly what it looks like in their swatches? I don't think I should have to pay 14 bucks for a polish that I have to use a special application method? Am I being too picky? I know that I scream Nails CAN make fully opaque polishes, so why don't they? I love a lot about that brand, but see a lot of room for improvement in how they show their products. Do this and then one last coat with the brush to bring it back to life and THEN the top coat. Preferably a diamond top coat and it will look like the galaxy. Use a black base for a huge shadow effect.

Well I only had a minute to show it and it took more than a minute to do lol. You can see a full video on this with no jump cuts on my channel, it's not a short though because it takes longer to apply with a sponge 😅 I didn't cut it after the first dab on the sponge so you could see exactly how much comes off the sponge onto the nail at each dab!
Question: How do you make it easy to remove? ???? I don’t wear sparkle nail polish because it takes me 10 minutes per nail to remove sparkles ! I would rather just wait for it to grow out at that point 🤦♀️
When your glitter has a very runny base, you have to let it sit for a few seconds on the sponge, or else it's going to make a gummy mess over your fingertips (yes, I learned it the bad way lol).
I apply 2-3 coats of glitter and have the same result, except there is no mess to clean around the nail. I dont understand that chorus of wow's in the comment section. Bizarre!

Flakies really do the best with a sponge, it's incredible to see!!
It helps that the sponge absorbs a lot of the jelly and just leaves the glitter on the surface to go on the nail 😂

Dab dab dab til your nails look fab. Use liquid latex around the nail before dabbing for less cleanup 🖒
Or you can just use tape around your nails! Cheaper and quicker 😜
