Irony?

I don't care how much people hate on electronic music. I think everyone should at least appreciate the creativity and time skrillex and diplo put into these songs
what's the software they use??

max hahn thank you!
this song doesnt even scratch the surface of skrillexes creativity and potential

Skrillex and Diplo may as well just have PhD's in sound engineering.
they may as well be teaching the classes
Well, Skrillex doesn't like giving away producing tips unless you're one on one with him. I could see diplo doing it though.
PhD's?
Means Doctor of Philosophy
I think Skrillex actually has one.
It's fascinating how this one song literally transformed Justin's whole career path.
What?
@@al-aminhossain7669 this song started Justin's 'rebranding' (Sorry, What Do You Mean, Love Yourself) it's difficult to explain but OP's main point is that this song started that and it's funny because it's not even his song, he's just featured on it
@@paul_nthny Skrillex and Diplo are LIFE SAVERS

Well I mean he is the one who wrote it. Its not his, but he came up with it
@@tekiero na, he had to release those songs anyway.
This was the beginning of his good songs, it was just the first song.
They both have nothing to do with Justin's life.
somehow this makes me appreciate the song so much more.
+Ashley Alicia i know what you mean
+Ashley Alicia Me too!!
Agreed, sometimes all it takes is for you to know just how much work and dedication went into making something sound good...
Me too. Except that "expensive sounding sounds"- part LMAO XD

Mind blowing how they transformed the vocals to a flute sounding sound :D!! No for real i'm mind blown!
KYAMI #soundingsound
KYAMI It's Jack Ü bro
all their version of this song is great
Actual its a rather common technique bro!
Lots of artist use it!
If yoy look up mio on youtube you can hear all of his songs uses this teqnique
Skrillex is just on another level talented. Everything the man touches turns to gold.
Bruh why only this track is good and the others aren’t , because of Bieber’s vocals and writing and Skrillex produced
@@meghiiikha2848 Eever listened to bangarang btw skrillex has 8 grammys biber has zero hence skrillex is infinetly better than biber ever will be

faisal sajjad same lol
Thats coz his god like deadmau5 at producing his a classic nerd
well of course he would describe better then your teacher, probably even better then any other teacher LOL
Whoever created the visual effects/animations for this video fully captured what I see in my head when I hear music.

Skrillex has always done an amazing job in production. No wonder this song is a hit
He's a huge sellout.

I love how excited Bieber gets when he mentions the "dolphin sound" is his voice. I think this track is what brought Bieber from the guy everybody loved to hate cause he appealed to teen girls to an international star that people can actually respect.

Ok! You're right. I now the respect the Beibz am now the Beiber Beleiver Feiver!
***** I'm doing it on purpose cuz I'm imitating a typical Beeber fan.
I never thought Skrillex would be THAT type of musician. He's got so much artistry in himself, if you know what I mean. I've got so much more respect for him now, and he seem to be very humble and gentle person
No but for real I still listen to this... I think it’s his best song

"very expensive sounding sounds" XD
plugins are cheaper than quality instruments
But most of the processing plugins are default ableton plugins
he meant the sounds were luxurious and rich sounding he probably couldn't expressive his thoughts properly
tfygloh it doesn't sound like that. He sounds like he has no idea how they made those synths. "expensive" isn't a proper way to describe tonality or timbre, as a musician he should know that.
+Spektrik well being the proper musician isn't fun anyway no one wants to hear the music nerd interviewed
This masterpiece got a Grammy!
"It's expensive you know what I mean? It's like the sounds that are used... are not cheap. They're very expensive sounding sounds" LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL
This just might be the most brainless dribble I've ever heard lollll
lol its funny because that lead sound is excruciating to my ears. i hate it. its cheap.
+AndyAngelZ Those sounds are expensive but they got a major discount. Gotta buy in bulk.
+adrenacrumb wish there was a thumbs up button to comments I'd break it for that comment
Yeah so what's wrong with that? It takes money to manufacture a good sounding beat, you just made a fool out of yourself.
....I just came here the part when you says it’s his vocals and the edit it high pitch idk I’m just addicted to that part of the video the way he sings it Effortlessly lol I don’t listen to Justin but I can’t lie he has a nice voice

Such quality for only an interview?! Maaaaaaaaan...
this wasn't an interview. no personal questions were asked. it was about the song...
The timing of the visual effects for each drums and the chord plucks is such an effort. It makes this documentary more interesting, love it!
No wonder they got The Grammys that they deserved, the whole collab album is pure genius in production.

Way ahead of it's time. World was not ready for this song 8 years ago. Iconic!
"very expensive sounds" LOOOL
+Matt Hickey Come on man. What's wrong with that. I bet you if Skrillex or Diplo said that you would be nodding your head agreeing with them. I like that he said that. That's how he felt about the sound.
kor9 correct
+Matt Hickey Yeah you said it bro! I mean, come on Justin Bieber! - He is one of the biggest star at the moment, if not the richest, is complaining how expensive is the sound that will make him him millions and millions and millions of dollars more? Justin Bieber is an a## hole, but I do love his new songs : )
+Matt Hickey so Massive is expensive... what can I say about mah virus ti?.... what about the moog in the corner?
+Matt Hickey yes expensive.. 1000 dollars for the software
This is the way interviews...the way music should be understood in a video. I find the production of the video fascinating and how each individual artist gives their insight on the artistic ability to make great music.
I love the contrast between Skrillex+Diplo’s complex interview and Justin’s simpleton answers
Andrea Pajuelas to be fair the production aspect isn’t something he would be really involved in, he trusts Diplo and Skrillex to do it.
He and his co-writer wrote the lyrics, came up with the melody, and he sang it. Bieber was trying his best but this series wasn’t really made for interviewing the singer and writers, the production is the big focus.
Bieber was 20-21 here. Skrillex and Diplo are between 30 and 40
This is absolutely fascinating. I don't think I'll ever forget this song honestly

Beautiful video...love the visual representation of the music - really adds to the complexity of the track.
+Ann Oh There is no complexity whatsoever to this track haha. Many viewers have no idea what producing electronic music is like so this is really the first mainstream introduction. However if you're into making this music you'll see that this isn't as hard as it seems.
+Droobis is that why you've never made a hit and we've never heard of you?
+Its Arrogance Making a hit has nothing to do with complexity. What an ignorant comment.
Its Arrogance I don't produce for a living, it is merely a hobby of mine.
+Tobias Jonassen it's easy to make a complex track, much harder to make a hit.
"It's expensive, you know what I mean? It's like the sounds that are used are...not cheap. They're very expensive sounding sounds."

Skrillex and diplo are probably the most underrated producers

Awesome production (this video and the song!)
+gunnarolla agreed! I'm wondering if this video popped up in my algorithm because I follow your music and videos so closely?
+gunnarolla yeah, this was so good, I am pleasantly surprised by all of it.
skrillex trying to explain how a synthesizer works and how amazing they are and Justin trying to pretend he realizes he knows what he's talking about
remember he is now "21 and going through some hardship"
+West Yorkshire I don't like the guy, personally - but he is very rich for a reason. He most likely has managers constantly paying attention to his fan base/revenue stream - purposely growing the firmly outlined "bieber" character in order to keep the fans coming around as they both grow up.
+Spoder Men lmaoo...i get that ur obviously a troll and everything(hence the picture and name) but Bieber was the executive porducer on an entire album(journals), which if you go on any video for is brilliant and gets brilliant comments (which honestly pains me to admit). as much as you might not like him, the guy was brought up his whole life(literally from a baby) around music-he defoknows what hes talking about(maybe/obviously not to the same level as skrillex etc but i wouldnt expect any singer to
John Smith you do know that he doesnt write his own songs...

This just shows you the genius of Skrillex at work. I had mad respect for him earlier too. Now that respect is 10 times higher.
It's 2024 & this video still feels like the breath of fresh air. Kudos to video editors too, they made it an immersive experience 👏

Arnold Martinez - I'm lad you're able to admit that. Some people hate him for no reason and continue to do that. You grew up and others should too. He's a genuine guy now.
When the original comment was made Beiber had been arrested like a year ago... I might say he's changed in 3 years but not in 1.
lmaoo i like JB, love his vocals and the song but i laughed when Justin said " They're very expensive sounding sounds" lmao he's so cute.
Lol I think that I’m the only one who came back in 2021 . Why tf were all the comments hating on this song ? Im from 2021 and I wished they did songs like these nowadays .
Justin's voice is so buttery smooth
I've always liked Diplo and even Justin Bieber but ever since Skrillex started doing more than just the grungy dubstep sound I've started to really like his music as well. This was indeed a very nice piece of music and an excellent collaboration on all of their parts.
This proves that The editors and music producers are the ones who make singers famous. Work so hard
its crazy because bieber changed the whole industry. with this song and his purpose album, he brought electro and electro dance music into the pop industry. i remember all artists doing the same thing after bieber did this. because most pop music was NOT like that. and it became mainstream. what a chance and risk to take, but wow he pulled it off incredibly. and of course also into randb with his other songs on the album. love his music!
There will never be another kid star who has achieved what this child has achieved while being so young. This man is a legend!!
Some of his songs didn't get what they deserve.
I miss when the Bieber fever was the only pandemic in the world
I wanna see these alt versions released
That last version at 04:45 ! Someone should remake that!
I love that bieber just sounds like a springbreak girl having to explain music production for the first time.
Bieber is actually a better person than I thought
Yeah..
The graphical overlays in this video are REALLY well done and help bring the words (and music) to life

"It's wrong right"
That wording is so accurate.
It is actually incredible how these three came together to create this masterful song. To this day, it has aged like fine wine and really formed the standard for modern electronic music. 2015 was a different time.
keeping doing these! this is what pushed me into going into school for music production.. wow I’m so mesmerized by this!
Always revisiting this video for inspiration, what a track!!!

I’ve always been a pop music hater but stuff like this helps me appreciate how much effort it takes to make some of these. It’s cool the creativity they want to express
Fantastic audio visual displays
Video production's flawless. Justin's opening line? Not so much.
+Jerome Daniel Casio really paying a bunch of people to draw on each frame is flawwless , ok you win the internet bro
Aw
Hi Jerome, I think Biebs was just making a figurative reference to the quality of sound textures in the piece. He made this description because producers want to create and choose sounds that will make them money. Sounds of this type are simply novel and have creative appeal. Is there a draw for "expensive sounding" production in the music industry?
i think the new york times saw a good opportunity to juxtapose beibers utterly stupid opening line with what skrillex said directly after.
You people know biebs was a star since he was a child, he's not well educated
Biggest comeback song of the century !!!
That is probably the coolest visualizer I've ever seen. How did you guys do it...?
Love how the bieber tells how expensive sound wehere in music and the next cut is when skrillex told that they puirpossly made BAD sounds and put in it, lol
7:28 i love this quote from skrillex

when Justin said "Diplo and Skrillex ahh I don't know if that's where I want to go" ... I thought Diplo and Skrillex should have said that about him ... Ok, for all these people that are hating on the “expensive sound” thing, Bieber is kinda right. The softwares that they use are expensive, buying new things to do and mess around with cost money. Skrillex actually bought a new messing around with thing just for this song. He’s kinda right but I mean, kinda wrong because the software and thingymajiggers are expensive, not the actual sound.

The way they illustrated/animated/edited how the music is flowing is very helpful
