It’s a old war trick, I have No clue what this shows about but I thought it was common knowledge like keeping bookshelves full of heavy books by the windows or keeping nets on the inside of your window and some type of wire fencing on the outside of your windows. Good practices for safe houses if you can not make it look suspect.

As someone who's slept in a bathtub before, you can basically never be well-rested because the hard surfaces cause so much discomfort that you're always in a light sleep. Add that to the fact that the bathroom is super echo-ey, and you get a scenario where basically nobody can sneak up on you because you're easily awoken.
I have slept in a bathtub once. Funnily enough one of the msot comfortable random places I've fallen asleep.
I'm sure that if you do it often or you are too tall to lay down properly, it's more uncomfortable.
I have 11 when I slept in the bathtub and I had a blanket with me and I slept really well. Might just be that child resistance to hard surfaces, lol

If you were a trained soldier, you're trained to sleep at any moment, anywhere, in any environment. Soldiers need sleep regardless of what's happening, no matter how short. In the manga The Fable which is about an OP assassin, also very realistic in terms what a human can actually do and not the dramatic one man army most anime and manga do, he sleeps in the bathtub as well, every night. He even makes a fake body in the actual bed, every night and yes for the exact reason you state

Bathtubs are one of the most bullet and explosion proof places in your home. Is a good cover, and if there is a good exit it can give you a good defendable point. Add to that the surprise factor... and It kind of works

Depending on what they're made from, new bathtubs are weaker than older bathtubs due to the material used. A bullet will fly straight through a modern tub. Old tubs are glazed with a product containing lead and made out of a stronger material which is why they're basically mini panic rooms. If you have a modern tub double check what it's made from, you don't want to be hiding in an acrylic or wooden bathtub because you'd be dead before you knew what hit you, steel is a good choice and fiberglass is a good option as well as it can be as strong as steel if made correctly.
If you don't have a basement or a room under a staircase, the bath tub is a good place to go during a tornado. You bring your matress with you and hold it over your head while layimg in the tub.

i've watched a kdrama where the ML has trauma which made him sleep in the bathtub until his adulthood, as it was his safe space away from his abusive father and brother. he constantly suffers from neck/back pains from sleeping in a tub but he'd rather be uncomfortable than be terrified.

I took it as a ptsd measure. It's documented that veterans are known to not feel safe in beds and instead opt to dig foxholes and trenches in their gardens to sleep in. When that's not available, the raised edges of the bath tub are the next best thing.

This is a common thing to see in bad areas as well, as you can often hide in metal bathtubs to survived gunfire through your house.

I mean, you're unlikely to be hit by anything coming through windows (since you're effectively in a hole) and the only possible way a threat could come from is up (meaning you can react to a threat quicker without having to worry about where it's coming from), so yeah, it seems like a pretty efficient way to avoid assassination.

It's a highly defensible position. If the apartment gets ambushed, he has cover to defend himself for a short period of time. The bigger the tub, the better. Also, he has concealment. This means he can get the drop on someone just entering the room.

As someone that slept in tubs, hallways, under tables, and in lower cabinets from ages 3 to 11 I used to do it cause it was usually colder in those places and would calm me down when I got anxious and it was usually tighter fits (except the hallway) and made me scrunch up which feels great! For the halls I also laid there cause my mom would eventually get up to pee and I would beg and cry till she gave me medicine to sleep when I really just couldn't calm down which she then would pour out the whole bottle of grape medicine and let me drink till I passed out she stopped doing this when I was 8 cause I slept for 17 hours
