  • The 14th film shown on Mystery Science Theater 3000 was the 1950 American black-and-white science fiction film, produced by Robert L. Lippert and directed by Kurt Neumann. The movie stars Lloyd Bridges, Osa Massen, John Emery, Noah Beery Jr., Hugh O'Brian, Morris Ankrum, and others.
This film is the story of an astronaut crew who, on their way to the Moon are unexpectedly propelled by gravitational forces and end up on Mars instead. They battle the locals and the three that make it back to the ship meet an unfortunate fate on their return to Earth!
The film was shown on MST3K on September 22, 1990. Enjoy! I did!

Some of these movies bring back memories for me other that MST3K. I live in a rural community and when I was growing up we had 2 channels and 1 sometimes channel that we could get. On Saturday late night, after 10pm, and Sunday afternoon some of these movies would be the feature films. They were old films even then and I loved them. Thanks for dusting them off and exploring them.

Yeah, everything you said about the "science," sexism and misogyny. Isaac Newton had gravity figured out in the 17th century. Plus the very loud meteor shower. I've been wondering which film was the first to use the popcorn ball (or deep fried chicken nugget) style meteors that every subsequent sci-fi film used. Maybe it was this one?
Good luck with Sidehackers. Is that the one with the rape scene that the MST3K folks cut, or is it the other Ross Hagen movie. 😬

Oof, good luck watching Side Hackers without the MST3K treatment. Even with MST it's a deeply depressing experience.
