Stary Olsa is a medieval music band from Minsk, Belarus. It was founded in 1999 by its present leader Zmicier Sasnoŭski. It takes its name from a brook in Belarus. Stary Olsa has released 10 studio albums and 3 live albums. The band uses maximal exact copies of old aged instruments such as Belarusian bagpipe, hurdy-gurdy, gusli (Baltic psaltery), svirel (flute), shawms, jew's-harp, Belarusian trumpet, rebec, lute, cister, tromba marina and drums. The band’s music is deeply and inextricably linked to the traditional culture, history and musical traditions of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania.
