  • As a resident of New Jersey for over 20 years, I am still surprised at how much I am still learning about the state. To be honest, I might have to call New Jersey "the state that doesn't seem to stop giving!" In this episode, learning about the the drive-in really hit home for me. Wow...we STILL have one of these and OMG we all need to go--and not just out of intrigue or fun, but to also support an establishment in a world where this type of entertainment culture is almost extinct.
And speaking of things I didn't know about Vineland...if you take your own deep dive, you will be quite surprised to learn of how it was established and some of the major commodities to come out of this city over the last century--grapes, Welch's grape juice, and Progresso soup company to name a few.

Jamilah, great video. Nice job. I grew up in Richland about 10 miles outside of Vineland, moved to California in 1987. I have very fond memories of Vineland. It was the only place to catch a movie in the 70’s. Landis theater, which you were in front of, used to be only one screen . As a child I saw my first Disney movie there.

Today Vineland is very loud city. People lighting off very loud firework shells. very loud neighborhood parties where the homes are close to each other. I live in the "Bermuda Triangle of 3 loud neighbors that blast music during parties that can probably be heard miles away. Many loud car stereos all over the city. The only place quiet is East Vineland near the farms. Vineland seems more like a suburb of Miami these days.

So many chilhood memories in Vineland. I'm originally from NY. We lived in Vineland on Wesr Walnut Road from 1975- 1979. I regretted moving back to NY and wish we would've stayed in Vineland. I made so many friends there. I'm seriously considering moving back there. Thank You for the memories.

I was born in Vineland and lived there for 50 years. Wayyyyy too long!!! At one time in the late 60’s - late 70’s it was a cool place to live. I finally had the sense to get out of that toilet in 2014. I now live in a REAL town here in Lakeland, Florida with culture. Vineland was nothing but a one horse tunnel vision town! The one opportunity that Vineland did have a chance at was a major music festival which they turned down. That would have put them on the map as a city known all over the world! All they were worried about was that stupid theater on Landis Ave! And now they’ll never be known for anything! Because that’s what Vineland is. Nothing! And they continue raising property taxes for what??? I am so happy I got out of there!

Who in there right mind would want to live in Vineland New Jersey of all places? Cumberland County has an average household income of $58k. By far the lowest in the state! Nothing there and no money!
