- In this Basecamping adventure, we pitch at the Morvich Caravan & Motorhome Club site in the western highlands. Spending three days hiking in the incredible Scottish wilderness and exploring the northernmost point of the Isle of Skye.
I can certainly see the appeal of the Basecamp and the adventures it enables. Stunning scenery. Looking forward to the next one.
Another great film! Brought back memories of our trip to Skye a couple of years ago.
Scotland is incredible. Thanks for your comment. Pining to go back already🥲
Another brilliant run away in The Basecamp and a pity you only had a few days….You have only scratched the surface of Scotland and hopefully you return for a longer exploration. I could watch your exploits for hours…Bravo
You’re absolutely right…. A lifetime in Scotland is not enough. Absolutely awesome country.
Nick - what can anyone say? Amazing photography, professionally presented and a beautiful trip out. You really have inspired me to purchase my first Basecamp and I simply love your trip reports. Thank you for all that you do. I can’t wait for the next one ❤️
Thanks David🙏
Great videography - epic scenery but I love the little detailed snippets (like the grill shot)
Great stuff, fantastic opening, wonderful story and photography. 👍
Thanks for that awesome feedback😊
what a stunning landscape and your way of telling about the place and history is sooo pleasing 😊 really enjoyed the video and the scenery and your dog is stealing the show ✌️☺️
Thank you🙏.
Another good watch from the Basecamp stable (I wonder whether Swift know what a great PR job you are doing?) 🤔
Fantastic!! We are looking at buying one of these lovely vans.
You have sold the idea.
@@mickjohnson3769 life will never be the same again! Always something to look forward too😊
@FlyCampCaravanNorthWales My wife and I have toured/walked (where possible) the entire Welsh and English coastline whilst using a Gobur (folding caravan) over the last 3 years.
We thought we may need to get a motorhome to do Scotland, but your videos have convinced us to get a Basecamp 2.
Random question: Did you fit the TV bracket?
@@mickjohnson3769 impressive👏👏👏 I’m slowly on a similar journey. Depending on the year, Basecamp’s are supplied with the TV bracket installed or prepped ready for one to be fitted. Mine was already installed. We have been to Scotland in a Motorhome and found we couldn’t explore much and spent our days driving. I prefer going to Scotland now with a caravan and basing in a particular area for a week or so and fully exploring with the ease of a car. The Basecamp is ideal for its compact size yet very comfortable and practical.
Another fabulous film! Thank you 🙏
Wow Nick, almost lost for words. Your cinematography skills took the stunning scenery to another level. I’m not surprised you were amazed being there and experiencing it first hand. Thanks for another fantastic video, always totally immersive. Thank you.
Amazing feedback…thank you🙏🙏🙏
Nicely put together video Nick. Was a pleasure to watch. Looking forward to the next one.
Another great video! Just a quick question what method do you use to get Wi-Fi into your van to enable you to watch Netflix? Do you use a mi~fi device? Thanks Jules
I’m using the hotspot from my iPhone👍🏻
Fantastic scenery. Great video.
Excellent thanks for sharing
🙏🫡
Absolutely fantastic introduction amazing professional, great to watch just subscribed thank you,.
Such a beautiful episode, this looks and sounds beautiful my friend!
Scotland’s scenery did all the work! Thank you for your comment😊
Nick what can i say i’ve been looking forward to this one and you certainly didn’t disappoint an absolute cracking vlog. A 10 hour drive is no mean feat towing the basecamp. I stayed in Inverness last month at the Culloden caravan site and had a day trip to Skye drove past the Morvich Caravan site visited Eilean Donan castle then headed up to Portree. It’s a jaw droppingly stunning area of the Highlands dripping in History. That looked like a nice wee site a great base for Skye and the surrounding area. Your Drone footage is spectacular mate. An absolutely stunning vlog and you cracked it with the weather.
Which way did you go did you go through Fort William ? How did your car manage?
Look forward to your next one mate 👍🏻🏴🏴
Thanks John. I shot far too much content so left lots out as I try to keep my vlogs to the 20mins mark. Yes I went through fort William and then Glencoe. It’s the best way to go! On the way there the car drank the petrol averaging 25mpg. I usually get 32 to 36 with the BC on the back but it’s uphill all the way from Preston on the way out. The car performed well however I wouldn’t want to put a heavier caravan on the back. I think the Audi would start to struggle. We were very lucky with the weather it has to be said. Amazing trip…. Already want to go back. There was loads I had planned but we just didn’t have the time to do it. Scotland is absolutely awesome.
FYI - my facebook account has been hacked and disabled. Now in a slow process with Facebook trying to sort it all out hence I’ve not been active on the Basecamp Facebook group. Gutted as I’ve got loads of pics to share of the trip.
Hopefully you get that sorted soon mate id love to see more pictures. We were wondering where to stay up around there so Morvich is a good base for us not far from Glen Shiel also where the battle took place in 1719 stopped there on the way back from Skye a few hills though for towing
Another great vid. We are considering a stop off at the Lake District rather than a 10hr drive
That would be a great idea. the 10 hour drive is doable but it was very tiring.
Another really good option is to stop at Loch Lomand just past Glasgow. There is a nice site at Luss which is next to village and pub.
Where did you stay after Morvich .. when you went to Skye thanks
We stayed at Morvich for the entire trip. The Isle of Skye is a realtively short drive from Morvich.
Brilliant video as always it was great to reminisce as we stayed at the Morvich camp site last year as part of a 4 week tour of Scotland how did you find the state of the roads on Skye!!
The roads on Skye were OK for us because we were not towing😂. Towed over some rough roads on route to Morvich though!
We stayed at the camping and caravanning club site at Edinbane which was a super site if you are thinking of spending more time on Skye
Love the blogs so much I bought a BC 6 keep them coming
That’s amazing. Hope you’re enjoying yours as much as I enjoy mine.🫡
We were waiting for this video! Awesome stuff!
Please could you let me know what app do you use for your walks? It looks really good 👍
It’s called Outdoor Active. It’s free to use but I do subscribe to it to unlock all the features. It’s about £25 ish a year.
Awesome, thank you. We just got the Basecamp 2 after watching your videos. Been out on our first trip and loved it! What a fantastic upgrade to our camping and hiking trips :D
@@mkrhike that’s awesome! I find the BC is perfect for hiking. Within reason the Basecamp can be towed anywhere and it’s a very comfortable and practical living space to return to after a day in the hills.
Great vid, really enjoyed it.
Which map app are you using for hiking?
atb
The app is called Outdoor Active👍🏻
Could I ask where you got your waste bin on the door please a link would be great!
The bin came from Lakeland. I don’t have a link sorry as the wife picked it up. A Google search will find similar items I would have thought🤔👍🏻
Enjoying the vlogs Nick. Can you tell me which hiking app you use? Is it All Trails? and would you recommend it? Cheers.
I use Outdoor Active and I wouldn’t leave home without it!
Thanks for the quick reply. Will check that one out. Hope your enjoying your birthday 🎉🎉
Should add that it was me and my wife who chatted to on the Wirral recently 👍
@@paulwhitehead-dz1zi arrrrrr…… of course. You’ll be off to Scotland soon then if I remember correctly?
Been to Scotland. Had a fantastic 10 days (Karen has posted about it on the Basecamp Facebook page). Only downside were the midges on the West coast (Oban). Regarding the app. Are you pro or pr+ Will compare to AllTrails
What are the maps you use on your phone
It’s an app called Outdoor Active. I plan and navigate all the hikes on it👍
& not 1 midge in sight
We were lucky. Went armed though😂
