      Make sure the nesting boxes are a good bit lower than the roosting bars or they’ll try to sleep in the boxes. And definitely add wheels so it’s easier to move

    Question, how did you figure out your angles on the 2x4 ends closest to the ground and then where they meet at the top?

    What did it cost to build. Seems a lot cheaper to build then a chicken coop.

    • @LifeOnTheRidge
      @LifeOnTheRidge  Před 3 lety +1

      I can’t remember the exact cost but it was between $200-300. Maybe the same price as store bought coop but bigger and better built.

    I think I'm gonna do one similar to this, bit I can't figure out how to make it predator proof. Where I'm at this would be a racoon buffet. They just dig under. Foxes too.

    • @kyliescookingandcrafts8737
      @kyliescookingandcrafts8737 Před 2 lety

      If you did have issues with digging predators, you could just close in the covered interior space by the nesting boxes and lock them up at night. You could put on a ladder for when you let them out each morning and they’d still have the entire grass area beneath for scratching up bugs and weeds, etc.

    • @LifeOnTheRidge
      @LifeOnTheRidge  Před 3 lety +1

      The boards in the corners I just cut for bracing. Any length will work. The sides of the A-Frame are probably slightly over 6 ft. Thanks for the comment!

    impressive. what's the overall weight of this unit, 8ft wide x 12ft length x ?ft height, and how many birds will be in there?

    • @LifeOnTheRidge
      @LifeOnTheRidge  Před 3 lety +4

      Not sure of the weight. The height is just under 6ft. We had 22 birds in there and still had room. We currently have 10 hens in there and they appreciate the extra space.
