  • In this video, I'll show you how I used a #designsbyjuju End-2-End machine embroidery design to quilt the topper. It turned out awesome!

    Really glad you showed the option for edge to edge. It doesn’t take away from the appliqué or add too much to the finished look. Cool!

      Oh look! In one of my replies I got one of those fake notices/scams that Becky talks about. Beware!

    I am so happy you did a video on this.. I wanted to do edge to edge quilting on mine... But I just couldn't get it to work out for me.. So on my next table topper... I will try this!! ☺

    Hi Becky. When I print out my E2E design, I put a snowman sticker on the center crosshair. Then when I go to stitch it out, I use the “find the snowman” button (technical term, I know 😋) It’s quick and I know my design is 100% straight. Then if I want to double-check the beginning and ending joins to make sure they’re spot on, I use the projector and advance the machine to those areas. It works like a charm.

    • @PowerToolsWithThread
      @PowerToolsWithThread  Před 2 lety +3

      That's another great method! I guess I should have mentioned that you could use a snowman sticker (and yes, your technical term is correct! to me anyway lol) . Letting folks know about the DIME Target Stickers works for those stitchers that aren't as blessed as you and I to have a Brother machine. :)

    I have a question for you Becky.
    Why are you not using batting? You mentioned shrinkage.

    • @PowerToolsWithThread
      @PowerToolsWithThread  Před 2 lety +1

      If I need to wash it, batting will shrink and then it might get lumpy. For a topper, if a glass of something were put on it, it might not be steady. The Pellon 987F is a synthetic that won't shrink so less wobbly if washed.

  • @melodyb1287
    @melodyb1287 Před 2 lety +1

    Don't you have to make sure the fabric is straight in the hoop too? Yours looks like it but how did you do that? Or am I overthinking it and as long as your design is straight it will be ok.

    • @PowerToolsWithThread
      @PowerToolsWithThread  Před 2 lety

      You do want to make sure the fabric is fairly straight to begin with in the hoop but it doesn't have to be exact when you have a machine with a camera system. Once you have scanned the hooped project into the camera, you can then alter the alignment of the design on the screen to match the target sticker. Instead of moving the fabric to match the design, you move the design to match the fabric. Love camera systems!

    Great video! Two things you mention. When you printed the E2E somehow the center crosshairs printed, what made this happen? Also when you printed the E2E, this was on self adhesive paper, where is paper from? Thank you! 🐾🐾

    • @PowerToolsWithThread
      @PowerToolsWithThread  Před 2 lety

      Yes, only to the white fabric. It really isn't needed in the rest of the project and you can't tell in the overall hand of the finished topper that there's a backing on just the white fabric. Thanks!

    Good morning Becky, thank you for this video. I do have 2 questions I can't work out.
    I understand the start stop position on the sides but how far down/ placement for rows below? I'm not understanding for some reason😢
    also I don't have embrillance for cross hairs to print, so you know if my BES4 or PE Design 11 will print them?
    I hope this makes sense😊

    • @PowerToolsWithThread
      @PowerToolsWithThread  Před 2 lety

      Yes, both BES4 & PE Design 11 will print cross hairs. You can also download Embrilliance Express, which is free, and it will print for you as well. As for placement between the rows, I just set the template where the top part of the stitching in the template wasn't too far away from the row above it so that it didn't create a noticeable "channel" between the rows and I still had enough to go off the bottom edge a little bit. Hope that helps!

    Thank you for this video! Two questions…. While I haven’t tried this yet, I really want to try e2e with small projects like this. From what I’ve read, for quilting, the bobbin thread should be the same weight as the top thread. Is that true? I don’t know the DIME products, but the Brother pre-wound bobbins I use are 60 wt and my embroidery thread is 40 wt, so I thought I’d need to wind my own bobbins to keep the thread weight the same. I’m really new to quilting, so I’d appreciate your help on this. My other question…. Which size hoop did you use? That hoop looks AMAZING!

    • @PowerToolsWithThread
      @PowerToolsWithThread  Před 2 lety

      Thanks for these great questions! You really only need the same weight of thread if your project will be seen from the back as well as the front, such as in Free Standing Lace (FSL). On this table topper, that's not the case so I just used a DIME pre-wound 70wt bobbin with zero problems and your Brother pre-wounds would work as well. That hoop is from DIME and all magnetic hoops are on sale this month so it's a great time to grab one - they only go on sale about once a year. That is the 10x16 for the Brother Luminaire or Baby Lock Solaris. bit.ly/3xTAZO6

    Can you use pre-wound bobbins in the Stellaire XJ1

    • @PowerToolsWithThread

      You sure can! The bed of the Stellaire is almost the same as the Luminaire and I only use pre-wounds. :)
