The K5/6 is meant to be the best GSXR Suzuki ever made, the reviews of the 1000 with it's MENTAL midrange and top end power is something that they've never been able to do again since. Trading my Busa for a K5/6 should be roughly similar horsepower. but 100lb+ weight difference... ooolala
I have had my K5 for a few years now and will never change it. What an awesome bike. The low and mid-range grunt is still astounding and it's so light and flickable. The engine is also bomb-proof.
I reckon the XK5 750 is the best... put a Yoshi tri-oval straight-through muffler on (no catalyst).... sweet music to red-line 14,500. Looks good too. 299 Kph limited V 292.9 for the 1,000. But 0.3 sec slower 1/4 mile.
oui je l avais acheté neuve en 2006 et j avais acheté la 2011 puis la 2016 mais j ai toujours gardé mon modèle 2006 car je le trouvais puissant vis à vis des modèles plus récents et d ailleurs en 2023 je roule avec et revendu les autres ! 😊
Is it good choice to switch to GSXR-1000 from Yamaha MT-07 after 2 years of non-crach riding? Getting a little bit bored. Before Yamaha, few thousands km on Suzuki GS 500 and Honda CBF 500 + many kms on 50 ccm. Never crashed. I both mean that question and want to stay alive.
the k5 is night & day compared with all the bikes you've mentioned if the k5 is the bike you love and if you can get your hands on a decent one GO FOR IT & NEVER LOOK BACK!!! It has unbeliveble low/mid range power so go easy on the throttle bear in mind it has no eletronic aids: no abs no launch control no wet condition drive mode just pure raw power!!!!😎 always respect your k5 and she'll give you loads of fun
178bhp from a 05 and i saw a clip with a 09 making 171hp but that one had brothers exhaust and also it differs from dyno to dyno. So in a cent,,if you are to buy a gixxer then look from 05 and uppwards also to make a diff you choose the lightest one as the power looks wery similar.. it would be nice if someone took these bikes from kaw,suz,yam,honda 1000cc bikes and do a test bone stock and with similar mods to see what differs bethween them.. i would subscribe

The K5 is the best gsxr 1000 so if i was you i would give it a test ride and see if you like it!
And what about GSX-S1000F based on GSXR K5 engine? For a road bike.
