    This video was the final factor that got me to order one. Full metal construction at half the price of RhinoRack... I will take it, thank you

    Well done video. You also convinced me on ordering this rack for my 2018 JLU Rubicon. Thanks for answering the question below on roof height, I want to be able to fit it below my Carport with a RTT on it to be able to load and unload it, and that answered my question there.

    Great installation video! I have a 4door hardtop too and going with the Skycamp mini tent. Would you recommend going with the 65" version if you had to do it again so you don't need to use the spacers to remove the front tops?

    • @Idahoup
      @Idahoup  Před rokem +2

      That's a good question. Unfortunately, the answer is, "I don't know." I just looked at some video of the 65" version and I'm fearful that it still might not clear the tops completely when you take them off. If I knew for sure it would clear the tops, I would have considered it. I will say that the 75" version has saved me from hooking up a trailer at the hardware store several times because I have plenty of room to strap down 8 foot long boards, drywall sheets, etc. I've also had zero issues with the spacers or the rack, at this point, so I'm pretty happy with the 75" version. Plus, it gives my Jeep a pretty tuff looking stance when nothing is on it. Hope this helps?

      @@Idahoup with that spacer do you think you can get your hands underneath to attach a rooftop tent? I saw that they have a quick release adapter, but it adds extra height and I like the low profile nature of that rack.
      Thanks so much !

    • @Idahoup
      @Idahoup  Před rokem +1

      That one I can answer. The spacers will give you enough room to get your hand under the rack to attach your tent. I used the quick release attachments, but they do add some height.

    Can you remove the hardtop with the rack still mounted? I guess you'd have to unbolt it from the roll cage at those mounting points?

    • @Idahoup
      @Idahoup  Před rokem

      I haven't taken it off yet, but I'm pretty sure it would pop off just fine after unbolting it from the roll cage, just like you said.

    I think this is the rack that would best suite my needs. great video and thanks! side note, what is the part number / name of the bracket kit (SRM Rack Multi-Axis Mounting Kit?)? Thanks in advance! perhaps I'll see you out there, I'm in Spokane, so we're neighbors!

    Do you still have the "Rhino brackets" that you didn't use for your install? My rack is on the way and I was thinking it would be better to have more attachment points to distribute weight better if that's the only connection point. If you still have them and would sell/ship them to me please let me know and let's work out a deal. Thanks for the video, it's what made me choose this rack. Looking forward to getting it on my truck!

    • @Idahoup

      I haven’t given much thought to lighting yet. So many things to consider. I did get the accessory switched when I purchased the Jeep, so it’s in the back of my mind somewhere:)

    How much does the rack sit up above the topper without the spacers. I need to know for garage door clearance and possible larger tires
    Thanks.

    • @Idahoup
      @Idahoup  Před rokem

      Without the spacers, it measures 4 inches from the low ridges on the roof and 3.5 inches from the high ridges on the roof. So, 4 inches to be safe.

    Looking good. Are you tracking your payload and GVWR?

    • @Idahoup
      @Idahoup  Před 2 lety

      Thanks David. Yes, and honestly I'm already planning on converting a motorcycle trailer I have into part of my build for payload reasons. The Xtreme Recon package (3.6L V6) payload is only 850 lbs (6100 GVWR), in comparison to the regular Rubicon's 1351 lbs (5800 GVWR), and it goes pretty quickly if you have a family of 4 and a dog. Good question, I think I'll cover this topic when I do my upcoming roof top tent video.

    • @troutriver58
      @troutriver58 Před 2 lety +1

      @@Idahoup thanks for your reply. My JLURD has 800lbs payload but I've taken some of that away by lifting it and putting on 37's. So I start with 640 payload even before gear and passengers. Very challenging. I've gone the trailer route but you also have to include tongue weight. It gets almost impossible to stay below GVWR.

    • @Idahoup
      @Idahoup  Před 2 lety

      @@troutriver58 no problem. I agree, it’s not an easy task to stay under GVWR. The trailer I’m planning on running would have a tongue weight around 188-282 (10%-15%). I’m not really a fan of having a trailer, but like you said, not an easy task to stay under weight and in my case it’s going to be necessary.

    nice build I'll order one!! how was capacity load with rtt and person inside was it worth it Im a family of 3 with 2 yr old little boy

    • @Idahoup
      @Idahoup  Před rokem +1

      The rack itself can hold 600 lbs, the way I mounted it in the video. I was running the Alpha Hard Top 4 person tent (176 lbs) and the rack handled it like a champ. But, honestly, I recently decided to get a teardrop trailer, for a number of other reasons (planning on putting a video out on that in the near future). I'm still glad I got the rack though, because it still fits into my overall plan as it pertains to overall vehicle load capacity. My advice is get the rack, it's a solid option and has saved me from hooking up a utility trailer a number of times at the hardware store (loading long boards, drywall, etc.).
