Chris demonstrates the proper way to change the oil in a BMW G80 M3 Competition. The process is tedious and requires a little bit of knowledge, preparation and the right tools to do the job properly.

I can only imagine the face of the BMW technicians looking at where the oil housing is located 💀😂
did you guys add lube sounds when he put oil on the gasket? LOL
Whoa! knuckle bruiser....that oil housing. I will need my son's little arms to get in there.
Thank you for the tutorial.
I am sure the angle of the car, during the draining procedure contributed to the left over oil in the sump. It should not hurt anything though.
That oil filter is buried. Nice DIY!
I just did the oil chg on my G80, comment/feedback for the oil filter insertion at the 6:00 min mark: I found it easier to insert/align the filter into the engine oil pump housing first, seat it, and then place the filter cap on top of the filter. The oil pump housing has a center pipe that guides the filter onto it; the important thing is to line up the filter's bottom 'nipple' to the corresponding hole.
Awesome tip, ty! That's so hard to wiggle a gorwn-man-sized hand back there.
So I’m watching this with headphones, literally just gagged on those o ring sound effects 🤗
Thanks for the tutorial! Was wondering how difficult it is going to be.
How do you reset the oil/ maintenance light on the dash of the car?
Thx for the video (THumbs up) Question? because you only jacked up the front of the car would that account for the car only needing 6 1/2 quarts of oil since the 1/2 quart may have been sitting in the corner of the oil pan?
so much easier on the F8x Models. that oil filter location is a joke
Agree
When are the oil service kits going to be available on the site?
At what interval was this performed? How many miles on your car? Thanks for video .
jesus.... thats one way to deter home mechanics from attempting an oil change I guess.. never seen anything where you actually had to partially relocate the wiring loom and the coolant expansion tank in order to get a filter out.. LOL
You should put the filter down into the housing first to ensure that the dowel goes into the hole, then put the cap over it and tighten down
I have an F83. Has been reliable, fun, and still turns heads. Was thinking of getting a G83 or maybe a G82. After watching this, I’m reconsidering.
I wouldn't let an oil change hold you back.
@@peterg6953 I’m being hyperbolic. Even so, design for service and repair is seriously lacking. Sticking with my F83 for now.
@@heftex8339 Aint that bad but I get it
@heftex8339 it is intentional to position it there.. I remember this fixed the n55 timing chain guide problem because the plastic is further away from heat source
@@qili8504 interesting.
why ddi the oil pour like that?🤢
Congrats on leaving a decent amount of the old oil in the pan 🧠
Umm why…the one thing you do most to your engine is buried in the worst place in the engine bay…say it with me…dats stupid!
Why bmw 4:11 why would put the old filter there makes no sense 🤦🏻♂️
I got love for ECS and my 05 ZHP. But What in Zeus's Shinny Ass is this
mickey moues Remove The Expiation Tank small batch fuckery BMW?!?
Typical German over complications
Hard pass on BMW!
This is the worst oil drain .In has much not letting the full amount of oil to drain. The is from a master tech with over 35 years plus.👎👎👎
The reason is because he tipped the car on one side forcing some of the oil to get trapped in the pan.
Terrible engineering. Both E9x and F8x M cars have an oil filter right on the top and very straight forward to remove. I guess BMW is trying to make it difficult for DIY guys. More reasons not to like this car.
