This is probably one of the most disputed Death Battle results. So many people think they got this one wrong, with Gaara having stuff that they overlooked, or them overestimating Toph.

this match was a bit on the old side when garra and the naruto verse where of low tier city levels but after a while every major caracters got mad chakra buff and more skilled in combat putting garra way ahead of toph in output and sand manipulation.
Also Funfact: King Bumi (he is 112 old ) and a freaking weirdo, but definitely a Master Earth-Bender as well, in the comics there were a fun-battle between him and Toph. It was a tie. And they accepted both to be masters earthbending.

@MrAchsas sand clones wouldn't have made a difference. With her Sesmic Sense, Toph would have no difficulty differentiating the clone from the real one. Not to mention she could just bend the clone with no difficulty

I like how they forget that she has to bend his sand with his chakra already inside it as well as his mother's.
And the sand doesn't really uses up his chakra since it's his mother's passive protection.
Gaara has alot of chakra not including the reserves of the tailed-beast.

Also at 12 years old Gaara is around hypersonic in speed as well has high tier gennin.

Absolutely. If you love anime-styled or influenced series, Avatar The Last Airbender is definitely a solid watch.
I would love to see that too. It would be a challenge to fit into a schedule between clone wars and dragon ball though.

Finally you've stumbled onto the Avatar! I can't recommend this show enough! I'm certain you'll like it. It has everything: amazing fights, magic, mysticism, easter philosophy, charming and complex characters that grow with the show, awesome music. Really, really recommend it.
The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra are kinda the epitome of western animation, of course inspired by japanese culture but incredibly deep and sophisticated for a kids show. The creators really knocked it out of the park in terms of action, style, humor, characters and philosophy.
Avatar is Chinese ( or Tibetan) inspired, not Japanese.

@@randomcontent853Yup but keep in mind she can still be caught off guard. Sure she can see it, great so she’s not blind when it comes to earth! But she still can’t react to it. For example in book 2 of avatar the last air bender episode “lake laogai” she is grabbed by a stone hand from one of the Dai Li agents.

Her rock armor isn't protecting from that, also claiming Gaara has stamina issues is hilariously wrong. This isn't Part 1 Gaara but Prime Gaara, who by the War was fighting days straight moving a dessert worth of Sand.
This is one I wouldn't say was poorly researched, it's outdated. This Death Battle was before the end of Naruto where everyone was pulling out their greatest feats.

@@metamind8674 Lightning fast. Ooooh impressive....if a Kid Kakashi didn't cut a literal lightning bolt in half. And that was him at one of his slowest points. Naruto characters scale far above lightning speed. And Gaara has held off meteors, nuclear bombs capable of wiping cities out, and battled with alien deities. Everything you mentioned Gaara has already done better at his weakest
All Might vs Might Guy & Darth Vadar vs Obito Uchia are 2 death battles that are epic connected to the Naruto world
Gaara was badass, the first kill we see him do is he entraps a guy in sand which then he raises into the sky and has it crush the guy with so much pressure his body essentially explodes. Gaara then picks up an umbrella and holds it up as the blood from the guy comes down like rain.
Also his eyes are lined with black because he could never sleep because if he did the beast inside could take over. So basically he spent his entire life as an insomniac which would drive anyone nuts.
Gaara’s father also hated him so much that he would send assassins to kill Gaara as a child, but they would all die.
Until he met Naruto and more importantly Rock Lee, Gaara had never once received a single injury from anyone.
Oh, it's THIS one. Say what you will about some other Death Battles, but this one is STILL infamous.
The biggest reason why this fight is Bias is because Gaar has light speed feats which they eventually mention in Darth Vader vs Obtio while Avatar characters only have lightning feats but even say Toph has such feat is kind of impossible

@@metamind8674 With earth release and magnet release Gaara has all of her powers and more. Also I think you have a bit of a misconception regarding metal bending. Benders can only bend pure metal if it has impurities in it. Platinum is about 95% pure.
The gold dust Gaaras father used is 96% pure and the iron powder that the third Kazakage and Shinki use is 99.9 to 99.99% pure iron. Platinum isn’t some unique element that they can’t bend because it’s just platinum. They can’t bend it because as sato states “not even your mother could bend something so pure”.
Also Toph never matched General old iron in one on combat. That was the avatar. She simply metal bended some of his armour off while he was weakened.
And Shi tongs library is just large building level. If she was holding back some supernatural beings powers she could’ve destroyed the Fire nation drill. Shi tong simply just lowered the building in the ground and then transported it to the spirit world.
@@metamind8674 Also if you want to bring up the mercury that Korra and that one red lotus member metal bended well commercial mercury is about 99.99% pure. But it’s likely they used a form of organomerury with carbon atoms attached. This also makes it much more toxic than it already is so perfect for poisoning the avatar.
@@metamind8674 additionally Gaara was lightning speed while he was her age. But we’re comparing them as they are older. Unfortunately we don’t have any greater speed feats other than lightning on avatar so that’s the best we have for adult Toph. However, Gaara goes from Lightning to relativistic all the way to light speed.
Also while Taijutsu is not his specialty, he is still a ninja and has vastly improved his skills with Taijutsu. To the point momoshiki (an alien god that eats stars and planets) compared his skill to that of naruto and sasuke as adults.
I don’t doubt that Gaara wouldnt be surprised that she could put influence on his sand. Because in naruto that’s an ability unique to Shukakus jinchuriki. But he wouldn’t really think much of it considering how much stronger he is. It would be interesting to see their interaction tho definitely. I’d wonder how Toph would react with shukaku lol
gaara's explanation of his history is a bit misleading. Gaara reevaluated his life before Shukaku was removed after Naruto fought him when they were 12. Naruto, being like Gaara was able to break through to him and Gaara reevaluated his life, being much calmer, trying harder to fit in and even taking on a student, and worked hard to take his father's place as the Sand Village's leader. This was before he was killed and ressurected. Him coming back just reinforced to Gaara that people did actually care about him now.
There are 3 major points that I can point out (there are more but these are 4 that are obvious) would have Gaara win with no difficulty over Toph.
1. Gaara's speed. Gaara himself is pretty fast, much faster than any bender in the Avatar-verse, but the sand he uses is faster than even that. Fast enough that it was able to hit Lee without his weights but before using the gates. Even if Toph can sense Gaara or his sand while they are in the air (because Gaara can use his sand to fly after all), she would not be able to react to any attacks he uses. Gaara and Gaara's sand can move faster than sound and that was only when his was a kid. Gaara and his sand are much faster in Shippuden. He was able to create a massive sand barrier so fast that it was able to block a nuke-like explosion the instant it went off. That is way faster than sound.
2. Gaara can use sand attacks that cover vast areas, like literal sand desert areas, whereas Toph even in her prime couldn't do such with even regular earth. And even if he isn't in a desert, as long as there is earth, he can just make sand using his own. Gaara can use his personal sand to create more than enough sand in an incredibly short period of time (we're talking minutes), to create his own freaking desert! Basically I'm saying that Gaara could manipulate an entire sand desert or in the event he isn't in one, he could create one while Toph could only manipulate small amounts of sand in comparison.
3. Benders NEED to be able to move to bend their elements and in order to bend the elements of another, they need to overpower them. Even Toph in her prime and Bumi, as experienced as they are, need to be able to move in order to bend, even if it's slight movements. Gaara does not need to move in order to use his sand, but like Byakuya in Bleach, using his movement increases the speed and precision of his sand even more. She would also have to use her own Chi to overpower Gaara's Chakra to be able to bend any sand Gaara uses (especially his default sand cause Toph would need to overpower both Gaara and Karura, his mother) and that's not happening, period.
King Bumi was able to pull earth to him when the fire nation had him stuck in that coffin suspended in the air. They thought if they kept him separate from the Earth he wouldn't be able to bend it and free himself.
Toph is my favourite character from the "ATLA" Avatar - The last Airbender" series, which is my favorite animated series, it changed my whole view on animated series in general - ingenius writing, characters with relatable motivations, pain and emotions and stuff.
Boomstick described her perfectley.. she was NOT helpless, she gain so much power over the years and the powers of earth-bending are amazing in attack and in defense. She is naughty, directley, honest and a true friend to the Squad.
My fave is toph and katara 🤣. I love these two characters. I love sokka too. Anyway, the outcome of death battle is very wrong though. Toph should have lost that match.
Honestly, the power scaling in Naruto is really, really high. I'm unconvinced that a Kage level character wouldn't solo the entire Avatar universe. But Garra is kind of an exception because sand is ALL HE DOES. Unlike other high level character in Naruto, he never really displays much ability in any other area, almost all of his attack and defence is geared around the manipulation of sand. Unlike a lot of other characters, he doesn't really display any bare handed fighting ability or really use many other ninja techniques, but his sand is so powerful it's usually all he needs.
So I'm willing to buy that if he's up against a character who can specifically manipulate the exact substance he uses to fight even better than he can, that he could possibly win. But I think Toph, maybe Bumi and the Avatar him/herself are likely the only characters who could take him on.
Gaara has a big advantage against Toph that was completely ignored, he can fly.
Toph struggles against Aang floating, even calling him twinkle toes because of that. If Gaara is flying a launching attacks from above she’s completely blind.
It’s a poor match for a fight.
@@matheusp572 Gara's flying ability uses sand, though. And, as the video points out, that means that Toph can still tell exactly where he is at all times. And could even potentially manipulate the sand that he's flying on and snatch him out of the air.
@@matheusp572 they literally state in the video that the creators said toph can sense earth even if it's in the air, aang of course uses air to float, hence air being earth's opposite.

Also we know that Toph can be caught off guard by Earth bending attacks. In the episode “Lake Laogai” she was grabbed by one of the rock hands from the Dai Li agents.
Additionally the creator commentary for this episode also implies that she couldn’t see them. Now I agree that she can see earth in the air, but there is some contradiction here.
Oh snaps! This Death Battle is fun! Toph is one of my favorite characters in the Avatar: The Last Airbender series! She is completely awesome! Dave Flioni the man who developed the Clone Wars series wrote some episodes in the first season of The Avatar series! When you two have time, I really hope you'll do a reaction to the show one day. I think the results of this battle are a disputable to say the least. It assumes that Toph has a grrater ability to control gaara's sand than he does. But considering the fact that's gaara regularly controls sand on a much grander scale than toph ever controls earth, i would think that gaara has more sheer power. If toph were in a town she might pick up some large boulders. Gaara would pick up the entire town.
This! This is the point. How tf did they ever could think she could outbend/manipulate gaara’s sand when she couldn’t even wrestle boulder bumi is bending?
This Death Battle is definitely one of the most scripted defeats ever, Gaara should win in every aspect they just decided to completely glance over his automatic sand defense which happens without him even realizing, the layer of sand armor that protects his real skin consumes almost none of his actual chakra reserves as seen with the fight with Rock Lee plus his tailed beast reserves and awakening would give him an insane boost but they just skipped over that in this fight.
Ugh, that sand coffin attack still bothers me. Especially with the metal armor, that force should have been crushing faster than she could react. But hey, it's been long enough that I can see where they were going with it.
I have many friend that watch both Avatar and Naruto, and they love Avatar more than Naruto but NONE of them agree that Toph could win this. SO MUCH can happen in just 4 frames of animation in that show, and that's when they're kids...never mind when they're older and fighting world-shattering enemies.

Are you certain of that? According to recent comics, Toph's power has significantly increased since the end of the series. She displayed her exceptional abilities by engaging in a fierce battle against a supernatural creature as big as a skyscraper, capable of destroying multiple cities, and holding it off. Her seismic sense, martial arts fighting skills, and earth-bending powers have improved immensely as well, making her almost invincible in a battle.
Always been torn on this one personally. I understand why they said Toph would win, but I feel they really disregarded a lot of what Gaara was capable of; most notably the speed of his sand is clearly beyond what Toph could keep up with even if she sensed it coming; not to mention the absurd amount of crazy things Ninja like Gaara can do beyond just his Sand manipulation.
I’d like to mention the fact that even though Gaara is perhaps the most physically unfit ninjas he’d still be perfectly capable of running circles around her. Or when they mentioned his sand is tougher than steel, yet Toph breaks his defense with metal? Or the whole get his sand into her blood thing? Just sprinkle it on the floor and cut her feet or legs when she’s preoccupied. They really did him dirty here. When did Toph stop a meteor for fs sake.

Current Garra was able to fight massevly faster than light aliens able to destroy planets and stars😂garra solos tophs weak verse at age 13 unironically. The avatar verse characters are not super human physically. Their just average physical humans with elemental powers. Toph can only bend as fast as her physical body can move. The synopsis in her brain can only react at average human speeds like us. She isnt a mind bender like king bumi, she has to physically move her normal human speed arms and legs to bend. Garra would be able to attack her hundreds of thousands if not millions of times before her normal human speed body can move to bend a single time. She also has the durability of a normal human, meaning she can't tank any of the attacks that damage multi planetary aliens from garra. Toph also has no sand bending feats past building level. She has no attack potency feats past small moutain level meaning she cant damage garras near planetary durability, she has no durability feats past average human level. Garra also hasent used sand armour since the early 2000s. Garra has magnet style, Wind style and lightning style. Garra is a current character and will only get stronger as the boruto series continues. Toph will never beat garra. im sorry you're wrong on this one

I hope you guys actually one day watch Naruto. Yes it's long, but ... well there was a reason why it was considered one of the big three animes. The Zabuza ark hits hard as the first big bad Naruto fights and even all those episodes later, you still remember his and Haku's name.

If you haven’t seen Avatar the last Airbender I would extremely recommend. The show starts out very kid’ish but then gets very in depth and has some of the best character growth I’ve ever seen. Also tons of life lessons

None of Gaara's movements was blind to Toph, she was ahead of him from the very start and also, he's literally wearing her weapon xD
But the question is does she have the strength and speed in order to capitalise on those advantages? The source material for each character kinda says no. Even death battle admitted this was one of their early failures.
Because she can see him, great so she’s essentially a regular opponent with higher sensory ability, nothing new to Gaara. She can control his sand? Yeah but he can turn her rock into sand by pouring chakra into it and she has to overpower his control. So it’s not really an advantage at all
Also he has flight which was overlooked since she can't do shit about that.

@@VampTwinkie correct, but to be fair she’s never actually utilised it in combat as far as I know. And she’s also never manipulated the amount of sand Gaara has. That’s also assuming she would be able to overpower his chakra and the flipping soul of his dead mother haha.

They look at everything a character has done through their lives, did you notice Toph had her metal ropes from LOK? But yeah, this one is just wrong. Toph's only real advantage is her Seismic Sense negating Gaara's stealth, but he's strong enough that he can just overpower her.

Sadly this is absolutely one of the most one sided death battles that where made.
You can clearly tell they favor toph in this fight. They leave out like half of gaara's abilities and the fact he is strong and fast enough to keep up with naruto in hand to hand combat.
You know they had to omit alot of stuff to even get this to be possible because they are showing the anime version of gaara in shippuden. So they had to look at the fact he could use other elements and just say nope. Its a terrible death battle.
As with what everyone else is saying, definitely give Avatar: The Last Airbender a watch. I originally passed it off as just America's attempt at anime for Nickelodeon; but after watching it, I found it to be much more.

Yeah this fight was Extremely Bias like one of the most Obvious Facts was that Toph can't detect Earth especially if it is Sand
They missed Gaara's multiple techniques, like wind techniques, his sealing jutsu or his ability to use his suna bunshin in similar way to kawarimi. Also, many of those battles has bigger issue - different laws affecting character abilities. Example is here. One medium cannot be affected by chakra of two users if they are not using cooperation ninjutsu. Not sure how bending is affecting medium. If by similar energy, she shouldnt be able to affect anything that he is controlling, only using other materials as shield. Also, Toph couldnt bend gold. Thney bend metal due to impurities, not by actual metal. So, Iron or copper in gold does not allow her to manipulate gold. But in the end, simple physical attack wouldnt finish him. He could swap places with the sand.

If faced with Gaara, Toph would be able to confront and defeat him, especially since Gaara's sand provides her with additional power. This would be akin to a Sun god battling Superman, and the outcome would not be in the Sun god's favor.

Apart from that, Gaara can use little amount of sand scattered on the terrain to gain sensor ability, so he can fight in similar way. Gaara is not slow. He is on Jounin level. He appears to be slow as he is mostly calm and he mostly is remembered from the fight with the Rock Lee who was overpowered physically at their point (few years before adult Gaara on which is based death battle). In shinobi world his speed can be medium, but not comparing him to shinobi that were based on speed abilities he is really fast. He had really fast reaction time, was able to defend against Deidara's explosions. He was able to create successful techniques in time of visible flash of detonations.
In the end we have three points of win for Gaara. Strategic mind of Gaara is for first and for third. In moment when sand techniques would be to weak to fight Toph he could do two things. First is entire change of fighting style. Gaara is able to perform jutsu that would keep Toph at distance by strength of wind manipualtion.
Second point is scale of abilities. Gaara is S-rank shinobi with one of largest range of his techniques. He is fighting on large scale, when Toph is on level for C rank techniques, at best B rank. If sheer amount of material weight wouldnt crush her, there his third point. After moving to wind techniques for defense, he could use large sand attack just to cover her in the sand again. It wouldnt defeat her, but her bending abilities are much slower compared to his jutsu. Time is enough for sealing technique. With seal, he could not kill her, as for the Death battle purpose, but she would be defeated.

She is affecting impurities in metal and by that she is bending metal. So, not only pure platinum. Any pure metal. Like gold. Unless this was bad quality gold, so this still does not need to be plot hole. Fighting against Aang does not matter for Fuuton jutsu. Air bending is just... tiny compared to Fuuton. Air bending is more tactical than pure strength. It could affect enemy's breathing. Against Aang, here Gaara would have problem due to deadly possibilities of Air bending. But in pure power, those are little farts against techniques that can cut or torn trees with roots on entire fields. And I mean Naruto's trees, not real life that are tinier.
Her speed as I said isnt bigger than Gaara's. Speed that can be missed by normal human eye is in basic shinobi abilities. Boosted by Shunshin and Kawarimi, that require basically to move three times in front of enemy eyes without being noticed. It is bullshit how it works.
Her "spider sense" from earth is like I said in previous post, nothing that Gaara cannot achieve from 4th shinobi war. He can sense enemies without seeing them in similar way. Flying? Same thing.
Relaying on chakra does not matter as long fight wont last to long. And by to long I dont mean few minutes, more like hours or days. Shinobi can spend several days active without sleep. Loss of chakra can be problem but for Gaara even without Shukaku it would be problem only for a longer fight based on giant sand manipulation techniques. And still, shinobi had tools for that kind of situations like chakra pills.
About size of enemy, I did not said that she couldnt match giant sand attacks. Read what I said before. It was only to make here bend through this sand, not to finish her.
AS FINISHER I proposed Imperial Funeral Seal. That technique would be end for her. As you said, she does not use chakra. And this is her problem. From this point of view, for that jutsu she is just a normal human. That mean Gaara can use basic form of that technique, without Shukaku's juinjutsu. Sealed mean lost fight. There are seals that wouldnt affected her like Lion Closing Roar as this only block chakra, but Imperial Funeral is full, useful seal. With that there are only two ways to break through - by some help, which is not available in death battle and through clone techniques that would be able to work without user being conscious. I think Toph cannot bend when she is unconscious.

He can use magnet style so he can manipulate metals as well. And not just impure metal like bronze or steel. But also pure metals like iron, gold and platinum. So he has all of her powers as well. Additionally he can also use wind style like Aang (something Toph can’t see) and even lightning which in naruto is so strong that it’s able to conduct through the metal fragments inside earth. That’s why in naruto earth style is typically weak against lightning. Hence why the chidori is able to pierce Gaaras defences. Gaara is also a sensor type ninja and so also has extra sensory ability. He has all of her powers and more.

She can "see" any type of earth even if its in the air. In season 2 of avatar, she admitted that her sight in sand was fuzzy but if you watched season 3, you'd see that she got better and better at it and even in Korra, she'd become a master

So, the amount of sand Gaara can use to directly crush her is very limited, she has superior passive defence options, more stamina in battle and more attack potency. So, the only realistic way to defeat her is to use his limited "super sand" while she is not defending herself properly. She needs to let her guard down.

Honestly I agree and disagree with this battle mostly depending on one thing. Gaara and tophe have a big difference I. Speed of movement. A ninja moves at near speed of sound but tophe is nowhere near as fast and ninja still get faster. I believe she’s put up a great fight but would eventually fall behind

Love Toph but Gaara would win this fight. He’s a skilled ninja of the highest level (kage) and would not fight like this. He would use sand clones and other diversion tactics that Toph would not be used to dealing with. Not to mention he’s much faster than her. Lastly, if they’re giving him his peak forms if the situation seemed dire he would just transform into his tailed beast and blast her to smithereens with a tailed beast bomb

My fist time seeing this particular Death Battle and have to say...what were they smoking? Lol. I have seen Death Battles I have disagreed with before. But this one must have caused outrage. Toph is outclassed in several areas but the most important being speed. Plus they disregarded the fact that even without using his sand he is still a Kage level Shinobi. He makes clones of himself. He has, while weaker than many Shinobi, Taijutsu. He has other basic level ninjutsu like substitution. In terms of power output they seem to forget him going to to toe with Madara. They mentioned the meteor but didn't reference how much force that would have required even with Ohnoki lightening it. They didn't mention how he stopped Deidara from nuking the village hidden in the sand. Yes...nuking. Plus referencing things from when he was inexperienced and a child who thought his sand would always be enough to protect him since it always had was foolish. Both his sand armour and gourd sand defenses were his reliant factors as a child. After being defeated by Lee and eventually Naruto his outlook changed. As he grew older he gained more experience. Plus his chakra reserves grew. And going back to speed. So what if Toph could sense where he was even in the air? She could never move fast enough to catch him plus his sand would move so fast that she would be killed faster than she could realize what happened.

She also has the durability of a normal human, meaning she can't tank any of the attacks that damage multi planetary aliens from garra. Toph also has no sand bending feats past building level. She has no attack potency feats past small moutain level meaning she cant damage garras near planetary durability, she has no durability feats past average human level. Garra also hasent used sand armour since the early 2000s. Garra has magnet style, Wind style and lightning style. Garra is a current character and will only get stronger as the boruto series continues. Toph will never beat garra. im sorry you're wrong on this one

I think the first big mistake in the match was the spikes coming out of the sand ball too soon. When he used it against Sasuke, it stayed solid and only reacted when Sasuke was in range while moving at Rock Lee speeds. And Sasuke was only able to barely dodge it because of his Sharingan. Which movement tracking and predictive abilities. If it had played out like that, Toph would have been skewered right off the bat.
I could legit make an argument of Gaara soloing the Avatar verse (note I have not seen legend of Kora) the fact that this is up for debate is ridiculous.
Adult Gaara low diffs the Korra verse honestly. Only kinda threatening people are avatars and some of the spirits. But they would be sealed regardless. It’s an easy stomp. Also yeah I have seen Korra and the supplementary material comics as well.

Also the creators confirmed that earth benders can’t bend living material. So calcium carbonate or bone is not possible to be bent despite what some fan theories with bumi and Kioshi may think. This is because it takes away the uniqueness of bloodbending. Also air benders need time to suck the air out of a person. Zaheer failed to do it on Korra and he needed time to do it on the bendless earth queen. Keep in mind avatar is not a great series because of its power. It’s a great series because of its story. Compared to Gaara Tophs abilities are very limited.

There is not a single chance that Toph would actually win, as soon as Gaara would be anywhere close to being put in a dangerous situation his tailed beast would take over the fight and Toph would be insta-dead, one tailed beast bomb and not only Toph but anything within like a kilometer of her would be gone. They also severely underestimate how quickly Toph would be crushed by his sand if it got too close to her. Naruto-verse in general is just too strong for anything in Avatar, Toph might (big emphasis on might) be able to beat genin Gaara but not anything else

The only person that can manipulate anything related to earth/sand and can possibly beat Gaara is Sir Crocodile (Mr. 0) from One Piece because he ate the Sand Devil Fruit and can manipulate sand on a level greater than Gaara and can transform into sand itself to make himself intangible and immune to harm.
Gaara has to carry a gourd filled with sand to areas with no sand to fight, and then to use those sand to crush the rocks underground to create more sand in order to create a field advantage. Crocodile just need to touch the ground to drain all the moisture to create a desert.
Toph manipulates and controls sand, earth, minerals, and metals of all types except for platinum, going against Gaara is equivalent to Superman going against a sun god, it's not gonna end well for that god.

I don't see Topher having a way to win this. In avatar people can struggle to take control of an element someone else is using but they cannot just replace their control. And often in those situations the effort isn't worth it. If that was true avatar batters between same benders would just be beam struggles in one rock, water, or flame.
It just isn't how avatar is depicted to work. Topher doesn't have the power output to put gaara down. Gotta has crushed people to not exist, blocked city level bomb blasts, and held up falling meteors.

Her seismic sense, martial arts fighting skills, and earth-bending powers have improved immensely as well, making her almost invincible in a battle.
To the people saying that Gaara would overpower Toph i think you’re overlooking the information in the battle. Gaara’s strongest move (w/out Shukaku) is arguably his sand tsunami. Which can only be achieved by having enough sand, using sand to grind up the earth. As we seen in the battle Toph could easily recognize him doing this and overwhelm him or outright stop it. While one of Tophs greatest displays of power is holding up the library which was ginormous, which doesn’t require any conditions- she’s just that strong. You gotta be able to argue for a way that Gaara can actually overwhelm her realistically.
And if she wanted to be completely brutal and ruthless, she could arguably crush him in his own sand armor before he had a chance to do anything.

Also his speed especially in comparison to other ninja isn’t something special. His best speed feats that I can think of was his hand blocking rock lees attacks, and that wasn’t even him consciously doing that it was automatic. And I’d say it wouldn’t even matter since Toph can just bend it

In his fight against the strongest member of the sound 5 (who has bones as hard as steel) he’s able to casually control and create a sand tsunami big enough to cover a massive area of the forest and then force Kimimaru into curse mark 1. This was about city block level in strength. Far greater than the large building feats from Toph and king bumi.
Also she would be able to see him moving the earth into sand but not his chakra. And you have to assume that he’d be able to overtake his control of the sand with his chakra in it and the soul of his mother as well.
But honestly he wouldn’t need the sand tsunami either because a simple sand burial would be too fast for her to react to or survive against.

Toph was never shown to be able to bend sand in the show so she shouldn’t be able to bend the sand gara throws at her.
she has bend sand multiple times, even in a beach episode where she bends sand to craft a miniature kingdom.

Gaara is massively hypersonic to relative to Naruto in reactions who has dodged actual light after it was fired (greater than FTL) Toph scales below Zuko who is at fastest Lightning Speed. (Which is really outside the norm for the rest of the series, no other feats are remotely close to catching lightning)
The same Toph that held off a castle from sinking into the desert, the same Toph whose faster then the eye can-see reflexes can block and counterattack earth-bending martial arts fighters, warriors, and soldiers including warriors and soldiers of other elemental nations except for air benders, the same Toph who was powerful enough to hold her own against a supernatural being the size of skyscrapers with the power to destroy entire cities to a standstill in the comics which took place weeks after the series plus Gaara isn't faster than light, that's bullshit, I can believe it with characters like Naruto, Sasuke, the other Jinchuriki ninja warriors and even some high-level ninjas like most Hokages and Sainins but Gaara faster than light? really?! No way. This is crap. One kunai from Gaara, and it's over. Gaara just has that killer instinct. You can't tell me she can get knocked out of the ring by Aang with a little airbending, and then body Gaara, who can use wind style jutsu. Toph, by her own admission in the show, can't "see" with sand. This is just straight pandering.
Kunai is made of metal, and toph can manipulate and sense metal. Plus you're using Toph when she first faced and encountered Aang and lost, to Toph at the end of the series who can hold her own against a stronger and more capable Aang with his improved air-bending power and martial arts skill.

She can see his sand, his metal (if it’s not pure) and his sand. But she can’t see air. Or lightning. Because little known fact Gaara can actually use lighting release. His arsenal is just vastly superior. And no feat from the comics places her above the tailed beasts.

Gaara plateaus really early in the series and becomes an afterthought, never really improving and in fact just getting nerfed because his tailed beast is taken away, and even though I know next to nothing about Avatar, I still felt that Toph with her own ability to see and control Earth would probably take it since she was a main character and wouldn't get nerfed.

Huh? Gaara continues to get development and great dialogue to add more to his parallels with Naruto and Sasuke later in the series. As far as powers goes, he gets a ridiculous amp in the war arc in the fight against his reanimated father. Gaara didn't tame his beast before it got taken away from him so he was not more powerful with it vs without it in the war arc because he could only tap into a fraction of its power. Gaara does not plateau in any sense. This fight just used a ridiculously weak and wrong version of Gaara cause back then Death Battle was literally a popularity contest. Peak Gaara solos the entire Avatar verse, he would have no trouble with Toph lmao, his sand moves at light speed, she wouldn't even be able to react to what hit her.
Gaara did not plateau in part one. Even if he did he still should have won due to the massive speed difference.
Gaara’s sand has reacted to rock lee “weights off”. This version of lee was faster than sasuke who dodged a sound based attack at point blank range. He was confirmed speed of sound in part one.
His sand can easily crush toph even if she was protecting herself with metal. Kimimaru has bones stronger than steel that he uses as weapons and protection. With the curse mark amp his bones get stronger. Gaara’s sand still nearly killed him when he was using a level 2 curse mark which amps his bone density to nigh lethal levels.
They really just overlooked a lot of things to give toph the win
