What fantastic cars! That one '55 had the most stunning blue color. And the metal or gold flake work on some of them was just beautiful. These are the kind of cars I think of when I think 'drag racing'. Or the '64 Thunderbolt, '64 Comet A/FX, '63 Z11 Impala, '63 Catalina Lightweight, etc...
That bright blue shoebox chevy at 8:45 is grabbin some gears and getting air on every gear change! Love it and this is how nostalgia gasser racing is done right. 3 pedals and balls out driving!
Ditch digger is a 55' chevy, note tail light, 56' is built shaped, also the front turn signal on the 55' is half a moon. Both years, same bodys. That kind of pastel green is a 61' chevy. If you care, 57'had the fin .
Another belting upload, this "type" of racing is the best, rpm, 4 speed, chassis action, as opposed to flat leaving, air shifted 2 speed auto junk, regards, UK
They're going to be at Wilkesboro Dragway this Saturday (May 6th) Unfortunately, according to the local weather forecast for our area of North Carolina (Wilkesboro and Western North Carolina) is for an 80% chance to rain for Saturday the 6th of May.
Why were they jacked up so high in the front? Seems counter to keeping the front down during acceleration. Also aerodynamically poor as it lifts the fribt at high speeds
Actual witts and comon knowledge is what it was about back then ,,,,now,,, it's ,,,,,POINT, LESS, HA HA ,,,GET IT ?PS. DON'T MEAN TO ,, DWELL,, ON IT THO 🤔😁
lol....I remember wayyyy back in the late 60's.....yes, 1960's in Tucson Az. You could get right up to the edge of the track and feel hot rubber fly on you when they left the line.
Love the Go-Go boots & flower power dress. It's like watching a re-run of Laugh In. The cars are cool too.
👍
Goldie Hawn look :) Such a cutie.
Say g'night Dick.
Hilarious comment! I was trying to come up with something but you nailed it.
The best kind of drag racing 👍👍old school
Thanks!

If someone asked me, "What's drag racing about, anyway?" I'd show them this.
👍
this is priceless yeah buddy old school don't matter who wins it's cool
Much more fun to watch these guys rev to the moon and start grabbing gears than an air-shifted powerglide.
Awesome cars love old school drag racing!
👍
You got that right brother
White boots and orange skirts!!!! Rock n roll.
Was thinking the same. 😲
Ding Dong.
Brings me back to when I was kid going out to Oswego drag strip, in Oswego Illinois.
Good old days!

Brilliant. Totally mad.
This looks like an almost perfect beer drinking & BBQ day to me 👍
👍
How cool to see the manuals out there! I couldn't work out whether all the cars had 3 pedals or not.
Hi from NZ,
Anthony
All four speeds and I think a 10.5 wide slick. They put on a great show.
Pure. Core. Straight. Old school.
Sure wish I was there. Looks like so much fun!
It was great show! Can's wait till next event
The way everybody's dressed, it could be today.
Awesome cars. Great racing!

Not much catching up room on a 1/8th mile track. he who leaves first is usually a winner winner chickin dinner
Enjoyed!!!! 👍👍
👍
Yes, Throwitback, 1/8 mile racing is not like the good old days!!!😅
COOL👍🍺💯%
Thanks for watching!

👍
It's about 7 hrs to this strip for us.
Looking forward to a day with the grandkids next time the stars aligned and I get a free weekend.
Gassers: Now THAT'S drag racing! LOVE 'em! Any Gasser organizations/racing in the OK/AR/MO/KS region?
That sure was fun!
1:08 A car named "Dammit, Bob!" and then 1:27 ... Dammit, Bob!
👍
great cars I love them and great cute girls this is the best ever drag racing
I miss the quarter mile strip you can really wind them out and how many races are won on the last 30feet
Some fool I knew in school had a brother with an ugly 56 .
Only thing ugly about it was the narrowed 12 , th400 and naturally aspirated big block .
awesome
👍
Those are some very bad ass cars, just curious is that a NHRA sanctioned dragstrip 🤔 ?
I wonder how many of these cars are around today?
👏👏👏👏👍
👍
5:15 best heads up run!!!!
👍
❤👍
I'd definitely be using hearing protection around all that noise.
Hum, Made me feel 50 years younger, hang on and bang them gears. excellent job amc9l
55 chevy 4 ever
God I I was there
Sorry I meant I wished I was there LoL. What a great day.
That little white chevy II had the motor
💯💪
👍
Would be better if you didn't cutoff their ETs
👍👍👍
is that 1/8 mile ???
Left lane . . . . Loosey Goosey today
👍🇺🇸
Never seen a 55 (hardtop) used for a gasser
Love the cars . . . HATE 1/8 tracks 😠
Why were they jacked up so high in the front? Seems counter to keeping the front down during acceleration. Also aerodynamically poor as it lifts the fribt at high speeds
It's for weight transfer to the rear so the tires wont just spin. That's the quick and dirty explanation.
@@ahoneyman Ty. Its interesting because its the opposite of what we see now with the front end slammed to the ground.
@@Doncurrie000 the evolution of drag racing suspension is pretty interesting.
factory hot rods
Thumbnails work
Alot of hot women there
Give me 1/4 mile....
Imagine if it was all ev 😂
Great stuff thank you.
Thanks for watching!
try that with an EV !
Not much here for the Pontiac and mopar guys.
it's only 1/8th mile...
the track owner needs to ante up to a 1/4 mile UPGRADE
Love the sound of gasses, and the look of hardbellied women staging them! Yeah, I'm sexist, if ya gotta go there...
Actual witts and comon knowledge is what it was about back then ,,,,now,,, it's ,,,,,POINT, LESS, HA HA ,,,GET IT ?PS. DON'T MEAN TO ,, DWELL,, ON IT THO 🤔😁
who bakes yer stude yer studebaker
Drag racing the way it was meant to be not like these guys out there with Hondas and Toyotas and Nissans go somewhere else
👍
1/8 mile track? Give me a break.
No et's no point,
As much ss we all liked the gassers..they were slow.
Cute but no gassers had women backing them up in the day, it was for Funny Cars only
I'd give $1,000 to see one of those cars flip over the jersey barrier and take out about 15 spectators with a few decapitations.
1/8 mile drag racing is for wimps.
No insurance company would allow all those people standing around at the starting line..
lol....I remember wayyyy back in the late 60's.....yes, 1960's in Tucson Az. You could get right up to the edge of the track and feel hot rubber fly on you when they left the line.
Stay safe at home vax boy.
When cars were cars not shoe box garbage
