Wait a minute....
A Death Grips fan..
Has a wife...
😭😭😭
My gf introduced to them back in the day.
@@Dom213”loud incorrect buzzer”
My girlfriend and I saw them in DC a year ago and it was amazing, she was vibin
Crazy attratcs crazy. We humans are all crazy, by the way
The real enjoyment for me has come on multiple listens. After you know the song structure and can anticipate the chaos and randomness of the production you may find a new appreciation for it
Same, its so much that sometimes i discover interesting parts even after the 20th time
This, 100%. I loved their debut but was so torn on TMS, & had to give it lots of time to grow on me. It’s less melodic as well, bc even shit like Takyon is in-key, while lotsa this record is atonal & discordant. I think realizing Zach is playing a digital kit on most of this stuff made it hit harder as well, & made the dynamics of his playing more easy to pick up on
Immediately following up a reaction to Frank Ocean’s Blonde with a reaction to The Money Store is UNHINGED and I love it 💀
her reaction to "punk weight" was perfect. it's my favorite on the album
Same
100%
Straight to the money store? Wow😂
That’s one of their most accessible ones
Wdym generally its the best way to start with them
@@freechurro6286 I just thought that they would maybe take their time and react to other albums before diving into death grips material, by no means is it a bad thing I just thought it was surprising.
@@thesegreydaysYeah I would agree as well, the TMS and probably the bottomless pit is the most accessible from their discography. I just didn’t think they would react to death grips this fast.
@@clockwork4406id argue exmilitary is the best one to start out with over tms because there’s a lot of recognizable samples and the songs are easier to follow
fantastic reaction, it feels like a wrench thrown into the cog in first listen. There's so much going on lyrically and sonically, it's controlled chaos with it's obscure samples and intensity.
wicked video, you guys have a great ability to put the sounds into a context of some sort. my only two cents is art doesn't need to be associated with something else, like the gym, or relaxing. it can exist on its own, and sometimes pushing those boundaries is super important and fun.
Yknow what I like about you guys? I like the honest insight and the lack of pageantry. Super down to earth.
Keep rocking in the free world
love that you guys just enjoy the music in a very humble way.... very interesting to see the sincerity in the words that both of you say.
My favorite record of all time! Kinda wish I could go back in time and experience discovering Death Grips again
I would’ve recommended exmilitary as your first death grips project. IMO more accessible and the least esoteric lyrics. One of my fav albums
i honestly dont understand why like 0 reaction channels ever listen to their albums in order
Great review! Absolutely love your reactions!
I see a couple people recommending Danny Brown and JPEGs collab album, but I would suggest reacting to JPEGMAFIA's OFFLINE! album as your first intro. I believe it's his most accessible album, perfect for an introduction to his sound. JPEGMAFIA writes, raps, produces, and masters all of his songs. IMO he's one of the best producers in music currently. You mentioned liking Death Grips' ability to flip non-music sounds/samples into catchy production, JPEG is a master at this.
Anyhow, keep having fun and don't worry about frustrating anyone if you're not feeling the music - it's all subjective! :)
Im pretty sure he knows who Peggy is
Really enjoying these, this was a really cool one as a fan of Death Grips for about 7 years now. I think you sort of touched on something very accurate about why I at least really like them, as they combine elements from my favourite genres - electronic music, hip hop and metal / noisy genres of rock. Before getting into Death Grips, I was really into all of the Warp Records electronic artists, some of whom you've mentioned like Aphex Twin and Boards of Canada, as well as my other big favourites Autechre, Oneohtrix Point Never. I'm also an absolutely enormous fan of the artists Burial and Tim Hecker. I'm a really big fan of shoegaze as well, my favourite band across all genres is probably Slowdive. I also really like Deafheaven and Have a Nice Life. The artist Parannoul has also been making fantastic shoegaze recently.
Three albums that might be interesting to hear your thoughts on would be:
Garden of Delete by Oneohtrix Point Never
Kindred EP and Truant/Rough Sleeper by Burial
Sunbather by Deafheaven
nice thanks for sharing! we're huge fans of burial btw 🙌🏼
@@f11.studios 2014 forest hills drive next please
great vid! really like the commentary and structure as well. would love to see y'alls reaction to the rest of their discography! also to answer y'alls question at the end there, I personally also love clipping., 100 gecs, (and the more obvious answers) JPEGMAFIA, Kendrick Lamar, and Danny Brown.
Death Grips ExMilitary mixtape shows that they have INSANELY varied tastes and styles they're drawing from. Obscure proto-punk rock, 60s one hit wonders, early 80s CGI soundtracks, 70s sludge, etc.
If y'all are listening to rock n' roll too, I recommend Church of the Cosmic Skull. Start with "Is Satan Real?"
Yesssss been waiting for this one
this was great to watch i hope yall will do the other death grips albums too!
You are so right about the Push It by SnP sound to Ive seen footage! I never thought about that.
You’re separating yourselves already from other reaction/analysis videos by both listening to things you haven’t heard!! Looking forward to more videos like these
Thank you for taking on one of my favourite records.
WOOOOOOOOO YESSIR KEEP GOING
5:51 prodigy is one of death grips big influences and they remixed the song firestarter from them
This was such a great reaction!! For a recommendation I would suggest the album ‘Air Ni Ni’ by Hakushi Hasegawa, he has a really unique sound, he is not really covered on youtube yet but based on the reaction videos on your channel I’m sure that it would be very interesting especially if you are trying to branch out from hip/hop and rap
(System blower is such a great song!!!)
a fellow hakushi hasegawa fan!
@@AZEROYGARDEN8888 my guy!!!
It'd be funny if you guys did the JPEGMAFIA and Danny Brown's album
If they adjusted to this sound so easy, they shouldn't have any problem with it
I really enjoy this album, it's so intricate and disruptive with some stunning lyricism woven throughout. Bitch Please into Hacker is such a great closer, the synth in Hacker is particularly groovy.
OMFG… THIS IS INSANE… top tier choices
dg is the best thing to happen to music since "stick out your gyatt for nerizzler"
?
17:09 "minimal" death grips songs in a nutshell lmao. greeat reaction. as a Death Grips fan, I recommend you check out Kero Kero Bonito for sure !
I love when people listen to death grips for the first time or even few times because its such a surreal listen to and all there other works are just as amazing specifically Exmilitary, No Love Deep Web, The Powers that B, Bottomless Pit, and Year of the Snitch. Not every single project is the same and definitely not all of them will be your taste but it all pushes the boundaries of rap and music in general.
Gotta listen to “Deathgrips - live from death valley” and “Full Moon (Death classic)” its short at only 6 minutes, but it shows some of their earliest songs, i’de suggest adding it to the beginning of your next album reaction which should be their album exmilitary
Great vid
she made a great point bringing up the prodigy since DG sayd they admired and got inspiration from the prodigy, also recommend listening to exmilitary if you enjoyed money store.
Amazing reaction! You should definitely show her Live Love Asap by Asap Rocky 🔥
You guys should listen to clipping. they are pretty different but still abrasive!
This is my first time seeing your channel. Double Helix is also my favorite 🤯👍. This is the diametric opposite of The Money Store, but could you perhaps react to the album Ys by Joanna Newsom? It's my favorite album of all time. She's a brilliant lyricist, and she plays the harp!
Watched a few of y'all's videos so far. I love it when you also don't know what's going on and not just your lady.
Maybe try like Bad Bunny or Karol G that's very popular now in Latin culture and by now most of their albums should have English translation.
I say those 2 because I know various people having their logos or iconography tattooed on them from random people I date to my own mother. They're huge and their later material can have anyone enjoy.
The thing about death grips is the lyrics are very esoteric and scatterbrained, so a lot of their music is less about words and more about the FEELINGS they and MC Ride's delivery provoke. Some of their songs are clearer, like On GP or I've Seen Footage, but the lyrics aren't generally the whole point. At least that's how I approach them.
Just discovered your channel and I must say you two are the most likeable pairing in this side of YT. Wonder if you are planning on reacting to ExMilitary or any album by JPEGMAFIA ?
we're hoping to cover jpeg in a couple of weeks. we appreciate you checking us out! that's very kind of you to say 🙏🏼
dude I literally had this exact thought like less than a minute in, these two just seem too real for youtube, they're so reserved. I suppose not being yelled at by some obnoxious white guy in his early 30s makes videos a hell of a lot more enjoyable haha
All my heroes are cornballs would definitely be a good next one. Probably one of his more accessible albums
Would be cool to see you guys react to their last album Year of the Snitch, imo it’s one of their most interesting and fun albums they’ve made
bottomless pit is their most fun album
yall are actually so cute omg, i wouldn't normally say this but i felt compelled for some otherworldly reason
More DG! We need f11 noided. 🙏
Just subbed. I'm impressed by your eloquence. Whether you react to it or not I hope you listen to "The Avalanches - Since I Left You". Not just a beautiful album but the use of samples is in the same league as Madlib and DJ Shadow. I have the feeling you will enjoy it. Much Love.
The production on System Blower is so great.
*on the whole album
Very noided reaction
My top 5 Death Grips albums (= recomendations):
1. The Powers That B (pt.1 is called Ni##as on the Moon and pt.2 is called Jenny Death)
2. The Money Store
3. Exmilitary
4. No Love Deep Web
5. Bottomless Pit
good album, good video
3:02 yeezus is actually a good comparison because both are in the same genre (industrial hip hop)
nice that you caught that one!
Yeezus was heeeeaaaaavily inspired by Money Store and NLDW
hacker has so many one liners i love it
Please check out Modeselektor "Happy Birthday" album, "2000007" is a banger and "Deboutonner" is a unique trippy experience, especially with the video.
No love is my favorite song by Death Grips
The hood needs "The Powers That B" reaction
omg such a good video🙏🏼
i think scaring the hoes from JPEGMAFIA & danny brown would be so good to see on this channel
ps: i am sure molly wont be scared:)
I feel an advertisement of Ancient Civilization about Alien technology in archaic ruins is a very fitting intro to a Death Grips Reaction. Gotta love undiagnosed mental illness!
"Ive seen footage" is using Push it as the sample, its just changed up a little.
Ex-military next pls that album is front to back flawless in my eyes. Besides being crazy lol. Plus its got less word saladish lyrics.
Yeah, it's one of my all-time favorites as well.
23:55 wait until you listen to Steroids (Crouching Tiger Hidden Gabber)
I'd like to recommend "Visions of Bodies Being Burned" from clipping.
hell yea
Exmilitary is a little more accessible than this album, I think you'd like that one more!
HAHA yes great to see this in my feed
Veteran jpegmafia reaction would go hard
cheers
i hope with my damn heart u do yabujin stuff, and drain gang stuff too (Exmilitary next ??)
Gotta do a clipping album.
There was a whole meme where people would compare jpegmafia to death grips so you're not that far off
Now listen to by the time i get the phoenix
not hip hop but I highly recommend any of the final 5 fishmans albums
CONTINUE DOING KENDRICKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK
Do 808 and heartbreak pls
do EXMILITARY next
Should check out Ex-Military, their best project imo.
you guys should check out Danny Brown’s Atrocity Exhibition! Think you’d like it if you enjoyed this
we already have! check it out
stay noided guys.
Subbed in hopes that you do Bottomless Pit one day ❤❤
I’m a big fan of Zach Hills (the drummers) solo record Face Tatt.. really enjoyed your reaction. Keen to see more 😊
power that b,next?
perfect woman
i feel like if they were told somthing like “death grips are bad“ they wouldn’t have liked it at all
MM…FOOD seriously !
Damn this is surprising. JPEGMAFIA probably would have been an easier toe dip into experimental hip hop lol. Also recommend that.
ExMilitary reaction when
I listened many times to steroids while jogging. The name says it all.
Please react to rodeo travis Scott best trap albums oat
You should do some Tyler, The Creator at some point
Polish?
HAHAHAHAHA LETS GO DO JPEGMAFIA NEXT
DO ARCA
Yep, now listen to Exmilitary lmao
Y’all have to react to LP by JPEGMAFIA
react J cole - 4 Your Eyez Only
please
jpegmafia next
fun fact: death grips was an inspiration to kanye west for Yeezus' sound
for instance: in the song double helix, there's a section near the end where the beat switches to an "ascending" type sound. in the song On Sight, there is a similar section that does the same. they both cut straight back into the chaos with no transition.
I mean this isn’t exactly true. Mike Dean has said that death grips played no part or inspiration to Yeezus, and he had never heard them before. Could he be lying, yes, but I’m more inclined to believe he’s telling the truth, since he’s never denied his influences. Personally, I think Yeezus sounds more like daft punk instead of DG.
@@ItsTaken__it sounds more like dalek
holy shit we need JPEGMAFIA next
Oh jeez one song in and they’re already being compared to jpegmafia
You kinda look like Manny Pacquiao
hahaha never heard that before
maybe she could recommend an album to u that she loves and u haven’t heard
great idea, these channels are usually fairly one-sided
