    Hi doc!
Im thinking of using a metal partial denture but I have many doubts.
Can I chew and eat well with it?
Do the clasps damage the healthy teeth where they are attached?
Is it a good option today?
Im missing four molars in the upper jaw.
    Thanks!

Hi Emilio. Here are the answers to your questions:
Can I chew and eat well with it?
If it's a well made set, then yes. Be sure you get a cast metal framework denture (with lots of metal to anchor it in place). A cheap flipper with wrought wire clasps will not allow for chewing function and must be avoided.
Do the clasps damage the healthy teeth where they are attached?
Yes, but only if you don't take care of your teeth. Be sure to take out your partial dentures every night. Also, spend extra time cleaning the teeth that the denture attaches to. Do these two things, and your anchor teeth should last a long time.
Is it a good option today?
It is a decent option. Implants in the upper back area usually require sinus grafting, which is difficult and expensive. Partial dentures are an easy way to replace those teeth without the need for surgery and having to spend lots of money.
Good luck with your new teeth Emilio!
