Don't Worry! Everyone has their own preferences and taste in music so don't hesitate to voice your opinions! Personally, I tend to like NCT127's Japanese title tracks over their Korean ones. But Gimmie Gimmie is exceptionally good :)
I think this japanese comeback was initially planned for the end of 2020. The album was recorded back in the summer but I think they chose to delay it after all the NCT2020 activities and Taeyong having to take a hiatus for his injury.

SM MV usually full of aesthetic, transition kind of thing, but gimme gimme was pretty simple that make it look like a small budget MV in "SM standard" but damn i love how the smooth motion sync with the song
i think they got the same director as Gods Menu/Breath/BackDoor, with the style of editing, camera work & robot arm cameras I think a lot of the constrained budget they had went onto that.

I LOVE this song so much. I got so many good vibes from this. Some people didn't like this song. They found it hard to get into even the album they found hard to vide to it. But, I say it's just a different flavor. Consider NCT songs and albums as different flavors and spices, each song and album has it's own uniqueness or spice. Different flavors for everyone. If this one you didn't like that's ok the next one you might.
I agree. At first listen I was confused about the song but now I'm addicted to it. Also love the album. NCT really has a unique sound.
It’s just like that with NCT in general though. Their music is either a hit or a miss for people unless they are hardcore NCT’zens.

I don't usually vibe with NCT 127's Japanese title tracks as much as with the Korean ones, but this one... Oh man I'm SO obsessed.
(edit) I think the MV is mimicking the message of the song (maybe?) like:Toxic love, toxic relationship partners try to handle you, they want for you to only have eyes for them, only think about them, etc. so they (NCT/SM) represent that in the MV with those awkwardly "in your face" shots. I really like that detail, tbh

“Unhinged” yes! I think that’s part of the reason I get this Joker/vampire/villain theme song vibe hahaha
I got like Cherry Bomb, fire truck, and Punch vibes. The background beat in cherry bomb, that siren vibe in fire truck, and the old school street game vibe.
Haechan's line gave me the childhood teasing line "na na na na boo boo you can't catch me" idk I just love that little detail. Johnny and his line gave me goosebumps and that little dance okay, I see you. Taeil and his high note sent me to space. Yuta with his smooth moves. Like I could go on and on everything I liked.
Except for Chain, I didn't really like NCT's Japanese songs either. They all took a while to grow on me, but I liked Gimme Gimme a lot and right away.
Interesting point about the angles and one-shots, it definitely is different, and intimate when you're not always cutting away from someone.
Chain Jpn version was always top tier for me and still is but this song blew that away. The song is so catchy and video is amazing.
Their b-sides on their Japanese albums are amazing. This music video was more low budget probably due to COVID.

I LOVE how so many Kpop groups have been working with this director. his music videos are fantastic and often my favourite ones (I don't think I will ever get over how blown away I was by god's menu)

Yeap, I feel you about the Japanese releases, Chain and Wakey-Wakey were like meh for me, even if the quality as a song/video were good I just wasn't into it. Then gimme gimme was out and OH MY GOD is just SO GOOD, I've been listening to it every day, I love the dark vibe and the simple but amazing edited video!
I personally am very proud of the fact that I memorized and could hear the whole in my head without actually listening to the song while watching this video😔✋

In my opinion “gimme gimme” is what you get when you combine the noise elements of “chain” and “simon says”, the suggestive lyrics of “baby don't like it” and “whiplash”, and the hard-hitting verses that “cherry bomb” and “limitless” have. plus an intro that's as crazy as punch. gimme gimme IS 127 music.
The editing reminds me a lot of the Got7 Breath video with the transitions
When I first watched this I was like "PD is gonna love these transitions!"
I will say that I actually really love Chain. It wasn't the sole reason but it was one of the first NCT songs that I vibed with but I didn't really vibe with Wakey-Wakey so I get how you feel.

you should listen to the awaken album, it’s a 127 japanese album and probably one of their best album especially the song end to start, i’m sure you’ll like the album!! and in my opinion the budget is not the main problem, but more like the lack of creativity (?), it looked like sm didn’t puch much effort in this music video and their latest releases comparing to neo zone (which took almost 8 months to prepare and therefore the whole era was well executed imo) ! but the editing was really nice for gimme gimme considering there were two sets only, anyways thanks for reacting to this song!!
Taeyong released a new song on his SoundCloud but u probably didn't know cuz SM didn't promote him, it's sooo refreshing and honestly I was so surprised at how good his vocals are since he's a main rapper. I would DEFINITELY recommend u checking it out

That’s just the way Japanese MV’s are filmed to be honest. If you look at any other groups who release Japanese MV’s, they have similar styles to NCT’s Japanese music video. There’s like a certain aesthetic with Japanese MV’s where they look a bit low budget for some reason.

NCT 127's japanese discography is superior in my opinion haha. Anyways PD, you said you are not really into 127's japanese releases but their japanese albums are SO good, I think you should listen to them, especially Awaken, the b-side tracks are amazing

I, a somewhat relative noob to NCT 127, have a question: Does Yuta get more lines with Japanese comebacks? Or do they still keep it relatively low?
He gets noticably more, but it's still not a huge amount compared to Jaehyun/Mark/Taeyong etc
Yuta pronunciation always make him stand out in their japanese release
And of course his visual and screentime, thats why its seem like he got the most part
I feel though he's gotten more lines and screen time since Simon says. He's been underrated artist since their debut, but he's becoming more noticeable

in my opinion/view he gets slightly more (or more impactful) lines in jpn comebacks than in korean songs but he’s never gotten the most lines or gotten a big share even tho he’s a native japanese speaker...
