- Maxi Boost ON and Gundam Versus (2017) are very different in terms of their rosters. Today we're going to be comparing them side by side, and noting how many characters each game has, and how many of those characters are shared between both games and which are unique to only one! This video took a lot of work to make, downloading 300+ images from various Gundam websites for every single mobile suit and then some.

MBON is better but I think I’ve got just about enough reason to leave GVS installed on my PS4 after MBON drops.

Another thing in MBON’s favour is that you’ll be able to get the benefit of the full roster listed here on launch without having to pay 5 bucks a pop for like half the roster. The fact that they never discounted the price or offered the DLC mobile suits as a bundle or a season pass for GVS was honestly outrageous.

To be fair I did get the DLC half price on Christmas Sale. Though it still it was roughtly 60€ for a 20€ game
I didn't realize how many characters weren't in Gundam Versus
Gundam Versus focused on season 1 units. I was totally hyped when it was released but I held back after I found out its focused on season 1 units.
It's one of the reasons why it sucked.
All of my main suits were cut from full boost to versus. So I definitely noticed.

Glad to help. I know it can be confusing to someone who hasn't played them before.
The fact that we didn't have Guncannon, Guntank, or standard Gouf in this series until Versus still baffles me. That said, we've still got Doan's Zaku, which is the most badass troll suit in the game, so I don't mind too much.
Actually, Guncannon and Guntank were in Gundam VS NEXT Plus on the PSP, along with a bunch of other suits that have since been added or removed.

@@YouGuessIGuess Guncannon does eventually make it into Extreme Versus 2, and it's strong as hell in that game.
I am definitely going to miss the Versus exclusive characters, especially the more obscure ones, but all in all MBON's roster is just so much better. It's barely even a contest.
I'm actually hyped to try out the QanT Full Saber and get back to maining the Strike Freedom. Gundam Versus' roster was so weird and the boost dive completely killed my skill with the Extreme Versus series so its gonna feel like a whole new experience again

This one was a rough one to make lol. Had to download another 200+ images then crop them all on their little squares and such then export them so I could use them in the video. But I think at the end of the day it was worth doing.
MBON has a better roster and isn't a shitstorm, but I will still miss the ability to play certain grunt suits on Versus. No More hardline UC Grunts to play with. I mean, sure we still get the Zudah and all the cool Zaku Variants MBON has but we also lose stuff like the Nemo and Hizack respectively. "Unpopular Opinion" I know, but I feel and hope there's others who prefer to play units that aren't just the protag and antag Gundam frames. Then again, Battle Operation exists for all of us grunt lovers.

I held back with the Gundam Versus before but now Im totally buying Maxiboost On once released. No regret not getting Versus because it doesnt have Strike Freedom, Destiny, 00-Qan[T] and 00-Raiser - my all time favorites.
I did not know maxi boost on had so many more characters and I am glad for it. I am going to use Gundam Nobel and both Heavy Arms for most of the first week!

Even in Gundam EXVS2 only Gundam Maxter was added. Still no Rose or Bolt gundam. They seem to be focusing more on newer series like Build fighters.
TBH we needed more characters from the build fighter and try fighter series.I want mah boi sekai kun to be in it added with junya, shia, wilfrid and lucas nemisis

Now that Maxi Boost on is coming to PS4, I'm gonna say that I was pretty underwhelmed with VERSUS. There wasn't a lot to do there aside from Trials, Survivals, and PVPs (which was terrible due to the connection). VERSUS' roster also lacked a lot of staple suits like the SEED Destiny characters, 00 S2, as well as Gundam X. I'm so glad BANDAI's releasing MBON onto the PS4! Can't wait!

Hey guys, what are some of the basic grunt/average foot soldier suits for both teams in Maxiboost?? I own game & have only seen "War In The Pocket" & "Unicorn"
Stardust Memory and 08th MS team have some, as does Igloo. There's also MSV.

Well, every GVS suit at least gets their own personal assist or other move to replace the strikers. There's probably some move updates here and there too. You could probably search up some gameplay of MBON, you might be able to find something.
@@ultimateblade4127 oh nice thanks. I saw some assists where they called other Gundam's. Are all of them getting a unique attack from the assist or are some getting something as an assist that was a part of their regular moveset in Vs?
@@niwona_ Might be a bit of both, honestly.
@@niwona_ certain suits will have an assist while others get a different move. Example is Ez-8. In mbon he doesn't have missles or slide shot like he does in verses. Instead he has 3 different possible assists for mbon in both gun and cannon mode.
I feel like I'm the only one here who doesn't hate Gundam Vs. 2017 😅. If they were to combine the rosters of both games into one that would be perfect.

Only thing missing from this video was another color to mark the DLC units to further add in the comparison to see what's in each base game. I know that Hot Scramble you can't get anymore because he was launch DLC and to have the entire roster of Age is an additional $20 you had to spend.
That's a good idea, I just didn't have a good means of doing that. I felt it was more important at the end of the day to use the colors to show characters as common. That's why I just ended up saying the 27 dlc at the end

Well, despite not being confirmed originally, that recent trailer said it'll be in the game, even if it is only a preorder bonus. As much as I hate the practice of having preorder exclusive items, it's pretty tantalizing.
It needs more Athrun Zola Suits in the Seed series. Gundam Vs. got Aegis as DLC, but why not Maxi Boost?

Feels like the Gundam Extreme VS Maxi Boost On is the Updated version of VS Full Boost. Which Full boost had from the 1st gundam to Gundam UC. Meanwhile VS Maxi Boost On added Gundam Age to Iron Blooded orphans.
It feels like that because it is like that. Full Boost - then arcade exclusive Maxi Boost - then they made Maxi Boost ON.

I'm sure someone has already mentioned it, but something that makes Maxiboost ON even better is that some of the characters and suits from Versus are paid DLC. Meaning you have to buy Versus and then pony up the 5-10 bucks extra per suit.
THIS MAKES ME BLOOD BOIL!!! SO MANY PLAYABLE CHARACTERS. I WILL BUY THE GAME
One thing to take note, is that in MBON, Gundam Crossbone puts all its characters in one designation; which is the aformentioned Crossbone; but in Gundam Versus, they are designated in specific installments:
e.g
X- 1 Full Cloth in Crossbone Steel 7
Phantom Gundam in Crossbone Ghost
It also does that for things like Astray. All the Astray characters are from different sub series of Astray like Astray X, etc.
Gundam HQ Also one thing to note is that Gundam Unicorn in MBON is placed after Gundam 00: AWoT, while GV lists it after Char’s Counterattack, which canonical, timeline- wise.
I guess MBON lists them on when they were chronologically released. The OVAs and novels are their own thing too, placed out of the main series.

Gonna miss the extra Jerid suit. I'm honestly a bit surprised Byarlant was never in this series.
To be fair there is so little in move variety the Byarlnt could do. It only has hand beams and a beam saber and that's it. They'd have to reach a lot into completely improvising its whole movesets as a playable suit

@@ultimateblade4127 Sure but Marasai comes with Gabthley as a duo unit and other grunts like Hizack has other tools they can integrate in the moveset like both heat hawk+beam saber and beam rifle and machine gun and missiles etc. while Byarlant really does have just two things, beam saber and hand beams. You can only do so much with those.

@@ultimateblade4127 They kinda did put a lot of tools into Hizack in Extreme VS. It has machine gun, beam bazooka (or just bazooka idk), missiles, heat hawk, throwing heat hawk? and that giant warship railgun thing for its super. The O also comes with Bolinoak Sammahn and Palace Athene summons so I guess that's a way to do it. idk if Byarlant has anything of that sort both spec wise and story wise. It just looks cool.

to this day it still makes me wonder why they would ever release gundam versus if they are like gonna cut half of the roster compared to EXVS which has twice as more playable mobile suits compared to versus. might as well not have even bothered to release versus in the first place if you're gonna release EXVS.

What is the problem with Gundam Versus? I keep hearing it's pretty bad but not sure on the details besides the roster exclusions and music.
On those two points, yeah, it cut out a lot of suits and series and music. There's barely any decent single player content, the striker system and boost dive system that are specific to GVS are annoying, the DLC characters all together ended up being more than the game's cost I believe. ($5 per) Overall, just a big downgrade from the EXVS series.
why no jesta types in mbon
Definitely a lack of certain particular suits like the Aegis and Vidar but, mostly a lack of Earth Feddie grunt suits like the Jegan or Jesta (which Versus had) but, the rest of the roster is WAY better than Versus as a whole.
Versus definitely does have some unique characters. Like the Tallgeese I. I'm surprised we haven't seen that in the main series games.
@@GundamHQ Yea Versus definitely went with more of the grunt suits w/ some of their unique varients like the White Dingo GM Sniper and not as well known series like the Zeonic Front and Missing Link games with their respective MSs (although they were relegated to DLCs.)

Mostly the gameplay and game modes, many fans would agree that Maxi boost has better gameplay mechanics and content.
More music, better modes, different systems, potentially more personalization.
There's also probably twice the amount of stages in Maxi Boost On

Kinda wish ye ol Hizack was going to be int he up coming port, and some of the others, but nothing too heart breaking. Still would like a large open world, co op, PVE gundam game though. At least there will be some PVE co op as usual I understand, but the rest may wind up as dreams I take with me to the grave within the next few years.

Nah those suits will probably be added to Exvs2 but not MBON as the Guncannon, Arios, Aegis, Pale Rider and Virtue got added into Exvs2(with Pale Rider and Guncannon being total bullshit)
That's how it usually is. Its added to the new one and patched into the old one. It's why pretty much every dlc suit appears in the direct sequel.

Both games were released and finished before Narrative even existed. MBON is a port of an arcade game of the same name that came out four years ago

Pretty pissed that the Tallgeese I isn't in MBON, especially because the II & III are there. It would have been the first game with all 3 Tallgeese's. But overall, a better roster with MBON.

Yeah. If you watched the end I mentioned the new port only characters that were still to be announced at the time of recording, and Lupus Rex would end up being one of them.
Is there a difference between the Maxi Boost On Kamille Zeta and Roux Louka Zeta? You can play as Roux Louka in Gundam Versus as well. I'll miss the Rezel, but I definitely like all the extra other suits Maxi Boost ON has like Penelope, 002, 00V and Destiny. Also I won't really miss the Aegis or Justice because I think Infinite Justice is cooler :)
There are always some differences. Kamille's Zeta is a 2.5k and Roux's is a 2k and they have assorted differences like HP and damage, etc. as well as different burst attacks
^^^ This goes for all of the same suits that are piloted by different people, such as the Impulse, Infinite Justice, etc.

I really liked the units unique to Gundam Versus but its clear MBOn is the better roster still. If I could at least get all the MSG cast into MBOn that would be perfect.

Gundam Versus was a disappointment for me, a lot of paywalled units while Maxi Boost is a godsend with a lot of units available from the get-go...
Not to mention 3 brand new suits for free from the very start.
