- FLORIDA FEBRUARY 2024 Day Thirteen! We start our magical day with a drive to Disney’s Riviera Resort to go for a Character Breakfast at Topolino's Terrace. We enjoyed the full experience, showing the amazing views from the roof terrace across to all the Disney World Parks and the delicious breakfast as the Characters made their way around for breakfast. We love the look of staying at Riviera resort one day, however the prices are crazy?!
We then hitch a ride on the Skyliner across to Hollywood Studios to catch some rides like Slinky Dog Dash which is mum and dads favourite and also watch the Indiana Jones Stuntacular.
After a break at the Solterra Resort Villa, we head out to Kissimmee to try Longhorn Steakhouse for a fillet steak. Is Longhorn Beef Steak nicer than standard beef steaks? To round off the day after our meal we drove around the corner to Margaritaville on highway 192 for a drink and some shopping.

Lovely family your dad is a legend💙😂
I go to America knowing I have to pay tips for any sit down meals or drinks. That being said if the service is bad they don't get a tip from me!
And I certainly won't be tipping when buying goods in a shop though, that's taking the biscuit
Laurel and hardy is in everyone’s era, my lad is 12 and thinks there hysterical ❤👍
Another enjoyable vlog, was crying with laughter at Lydia winding Paul up at Longhorn steak house 😂. That’s definitely my vibe when abroad, sitting at a nice bar with a drink listening to some good live singers. Seemed a good night x
She loves winding me up !! Just like Andrew !!😱😱😱
@@mickgarvey9480 I love watching you, hilarious 🤣
Omg Andrew your mum and dad are so funny I have tears rolling down my face watching this vlog when they was in longhorns .
Hi Andrew, we always tip 20% but it's becoming alot of money on top of already expensive food and holiday. I am totally against tipping counter service and shops though. Also I hate when people say well if you don't like it don't come to florida, it's just checky expecting such a high percentage
The demand to tip for counter service is something that came up the last few years and is in my opinion completely ridiculous. In a sit down restaurant we now tip 18% on the subtotal (before tax)... As I've learned from American friends you should never tip on tax. Although opinions differ there as well.
I tip more at breakfast places usually, as have a weakness for the sweet elderly ladies... still having to work, instead of being able to enjoy retirement. Breaks my heart really that side of the American system with little to no social security.
Your Dad is fun he has rallied round and is having fun😂❤
I forgot all about Lydia mucking about at dinner 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️jeeze !!! I also forgot Andrew filmed it all 🙄🙄🙄

@@TheKnightStrider You’re welcome.
On tips ideally shouldn’t have to tip staff in shops restaurants etc probably our family give maybe 10% no more even though as you said in your vlog expect 18% but really good information shared with us much appreciated something we will watch out for hopefully when we get the chance go to Florida throughly enjoyed the vlog though snoop dog ride scares me a bit wish brave as you guys going on that look forward more fab vlogs of course love Tenerife No1 island in canaries👍

Definitely think the best tip would be to have an itinerary or some sort of plan, you don’t have to stick to it exactly but had so many times where we’ve gone round in circles where we going today/where we eating tonight etc.
Stayed at riviera last September, omg the one bedroom was amazing , we had an absolutely fabulous 3 nights ! Staying in September for 3 nights again ! My favourite breakfast was topolino , loved the crumb cake had a take out of them ! Grand Floridian rooms were really nice but walls are paper thin wouldn’t stay again after 3 nights of some one snoring next door so loud I thought he was in bed with me ! Love jambo house ! We have 4 nights at baylake it’s the only dvc resort we’ve never stayed at M roll on September , great vlog
Another great vlog, your mum and dad are hilarious 😂
They are! 😊
😂😂😂 the meal...honey and mustard...😂😂😂😂 hilarious 😂
When we go next year we will definitely be trying that hotel for a character breakfast 👍🏻
Don't agree with tipping in a shop ! We do tip, usually 20 dollars a couple for restaurants however you can get quick service and save on the tip 😂 only tried Bigfire at City Walk for steaks, excellent fillet 😊 another brilliant vlog guys
Your Mam and Dad are nutters 😅 hilarious 😂
Crazy to tip in a shop 😂
Well done steak is the only way-YUMMY 😊❤
Margaritaville looks great surprised it’s so quiet 🤷🏻♂️ and those chocolate covered marshmallows looked lush 😋
Charlie’s steak house celerbration is as good as it gets expensive but worth it 👍
Your dads hilarious, I stayed at contemporary last year , one night only , as it’s so expensive but it’s a lovely resort the rooms are beautiful.
Try Mannies Steakhouse on Highway 27 towards Haynes City for the best steak, and the best salad bowl ever. There is also a golf resort up there called Southern Dunes. You can go in there for a meal in the Clubhouse for breakfast, Sunday Brunch and lunchtime meals, just tell the guy on the gate house you are going there, they give you a piece of paper to put in your car to allow you in. Both cracking places to eat. There is also Egg City up there too next door to Mannies, they are both owned by the same people. Very good for breakfast. Put them all on your list to try when you are next there. Texas Roadhouse on 192 is the best too along with Panda Express nearby and on the same side of the road. Sickies is another good restaurant, chicken in a basket quite good.
Somewhere to visit in the winter months is Back Porch, lovely different type of shopping and antiques place. You can have a meal there, it's brought to you in a basket. Really novel place to visit. It's at Lake Alfred, just off I4 on the way towards Lakeland.
Thanks for all the info, great comment!
Me and my family are staying in a villa on Southern Dunes this August. I’ll definitely try out those venues. 👍🏻.
We went to Long Horn on our way to airport as our last meal in Orlando and loved it. I had a fillet steak and I have mine well done as can’t stand any blood in the steak. Can’t wait to go there again when we go back to Orlando this year 👍
Medium is the way to go with streak.
Totally agree❤
Steak😂
Loved it with Donald and micky minne did I see moths fly out your wallet mick 😂 breakfast looked amazing don't eat steak but that food looked looked lo.lovely omg Lydia is hilarious dad is grumpy brilliant great memories thanks Laura Andrew mum and dad for sharing ❤❤❤
Thank you for your kind comments Susan !!!
Yes well done steak.
Haha sat in the exact same seats in January…..The spicy chicken bite starters and the Idaho baked potatoes are the best in the world. Set rule for me… bad no tip, ok 10% good service 15% and that’s it . Don’t tip in shops or fast food . You spend enough as it is
Tipping is a touchy subject your basically paying the staffs wages for the owners it’s crazy but it’s an American thing so you have to abide by it we tipped 20% average with the odd 25% for top draw service
Hi Andrew
I hate been told what you should tip.I always disappear and leave it to the wife. But we usually leave 10 dollars and no more.
Not gonna lie, I have a family of 5 and my brother is coming to Disney with us on our next trip making our party 6. That means that every time we have a table service, we will have AUTOMATIC GRATUITY of %18....so I'll be expected to pay between $40-$60 in tip. That's more than I make myself! I get that we're subsidizing servers' salaries here but I'm not hiring a lawyer here, I'm just eating with my family. I know tipping is a very touchy subject and a lot of people are quick to point fingers and say "if you can't afford the tip, you can't afford to eat out" but at the end of the day, it's businesses passing the buck to customers. Companies should be paying employees a fair wage but “The House Never Loses”
We went to a subway in davenport and all we got was 2 refill drinks and all they did was hand us a cup to use the machine and on the screen it came up how much did we want to tip we normally do but we draw the line at handing us a cup for us to fill our own drinks and then want a tip 🤷🏼♂️
We’re from the UK and live in the US. The vast majority of people pay 15%. We do the same. More than that is reserved for great service only. Plus I never understood the reason for moving the norm up to like 20%. It’s a percentage, it rises with inflation without having to increase it.
Great video! Did you give your UK mobile number for the text to tell you that your table was ready at topolino’s? Or do you have a USA number? I didn’t think it would work for us UK people
When we go to that margaritaville strip ots always been busy . We usually go end August
Loved the vlog Andrew .2008 was when our family was last in Orlando and we did tip what was expected, although I can't remember what that was so it's almost doubled now. We go February next year. Will need to see, depends on the service.but I'd not tip someone for serving me sweets.
Your dad should be on the stage 😅 what a laugh 😂
Andrew would love to put me on stage !!! …… and have eggs thrown at me !!🤦♂️🤦♂️
Couple of things that I thought I'd share as an American. When dining out at a restaurant, we do typically tip 20-25 percent for very good service. However, if the service is lacking (waiter not staying on top of things, bad attitude, or indifferent), we do adjust for that. It's perfectly fine to tip less for lesser service.
As for the shops like Andrew mentioned at the end, we rarely tip in those instances where they're literally just bagging up candy or donuts. Completely optional in those cases, although we will tip maybe 10 percent if they're actually making something for us like a shake or a sundae.
Hope that helps clarify the tipping situation here in the US!
PS - Medium rare is the way to go for a steak. 😋
I have stayed in the Rivera it’s one of my home resorts, if you ever get the chance pls do stay there, it’s definitely worth it however abit limited for food, but can always walk to Caribbean beach it’s about 10 mins and the food there is amazing 😍
Dad's right, you shouldn't be allowed near a steak ordering it well done 😂
poor Garvey that moonshine hit the parts other drinks cannot reach lol
It certainly did Jackie !!!! 🤢
Another great vlog everyone. Love the skyliner agree with Laura it’s a shame it doesn’t go to magic kingdom. I understand that the tips is part of their wages but disagree when you don’t have great service. If they waited on 10 tables a night and everyone gave the 30 dollars that’s more than I earn in a week. Last time we went we went to Toothsome and the service was really poor never even got a refill on our drinks but paid him the tip anyway, it was about 10 cents short and he cheekily came and asked for it just told him no was shocked he had the nerve to ask lol
I tip mostly in cash hopefully if good service they get 18-20% exceptional maybe more I don’t like being told how much
We always tip 20% it’s customary if we don’t want to tip we eat at counter service places to keep costs down. I don’t agree with tipping in a shop though!
I’m against the whole tipping thing. I tip when I feel it’s worth it, should not be pressured or expected. Also what annoyed me in the US was the price does not include tax. Everything whatever it states should be included.
Another great vlog 👍🏻
I don’t eat steak but my other half likes his well done too…. The whole ‘tipping’ system in the US is a minefield 🤪!
Love the vlogs! We always tip 20% but last time we were there there was comments that brits don’t tip well made to us by the servers in a restaurant and we found our service was really bad, like they didn’t want to waste their time with us as they thought we wouldn’t tip! Usually service is great and warrants the 20% though so don’t mind paying it usually!
You know how to ruin a fillet steak 😂 WELL DONE .
we went to longhorn in October and I thought the ribeye was perfect done at medium but a couple in our group thought there was a touch too much seasoning can't keep everyone happy
The tipping system in USA drives us nuts. if we get good service and good food then we will leave a tip but we find it hard to take on the USA idea that it is expected. From chatting with some Florida friends it seems that it has got out of control there now. and they expect a tip for doing practically nothing. Oh well roll on December for our next visit LOL Greatrblog your Mum and Dad are so funny XX
I tip as the service deserves & the food i work in the hospitality industry for a very long time
Agree!
When it comes to tipping, I tip at a sit down restaurant , bar staff & taxis. That's it.... I don't tip quick service or shop staff as that is just rediculous .
I always tip but I noticed in November it was very much 18% minimum and I’ve seen waitresses kick off on people when they haven’t left a tip, I know a guy who got a $10 tip on a $300 cheque in Hard Rock and quit
Mum was right the tune was from Laurel & Hardy... & well done Steak for us too..........
The best steak I've ever had was in Ireland.
great vlog again your dad must have PTSD after these last two days hahahaha.
It felt like that Jack !!!😱😱
Enjoyed your breakfast vlog at Riviera resort but think the breakfast at ale and compass at yacht club is better.23 dollars for as much of the buffet as you want and a main plus a drink.no characters though
I completely agree! Such an underrated breakfast and will be there twice in our next trip in August 😂

Steak should always be medium rare. The best way .
We tip 20 percent if we enjoyed the service.
If not, they can do one 😂
I didn’t think they were changing fast and furious (sadly) I thought it was just being closed early to be used for Halloween horror nights
Did you get the Columbia Top at Vinelands Andrew and how much was it
Nicee yes i did $45
I have worked as a barmaid, any tip was a bonus, I just think they should up the wages❤
Indeed !!! I agree !!
Try restaurants away from the park area, far better service and quality of food, we normally tip 15% if happy, if not and its been woeful we will not tip
Medium-rare for me. Longhorns is deffo the best steakhouse, we ate there in November. Tipping will always be a touchy subject we will always tip but now that Disney staff are on $18 ph is more than most here in the uk. Will the % be lower.
Tip is dependant on service. Good service, I’ll tip 20%. I paid $68 for three cocktails in Volcano Bay, and the guy asked for 20% tip for pre made drinks. Bars service gets $1 per drink
I’m Scottish, living in Florida and have to agree with you on the steaks….my Dad always said the beef never tasted as good as the beef back home. Don’t think it had anything to do with how it’s cooked as much as what the cattle are fed. As for tipping, you should never feel obligated to tip for bad service. I understand there are busy times especially in Orlando and it’s not always possible to get 5 star service but then 20% or higher is not necessary. If you feel service was poor, reflect it in the tip.
I hate heights . I would never ever go on the sky liner.
you need to try Texas Roadhouse next time your out
Jacket potato Andrew❤
Just walk my fillet steak through a warm room and it’ll be perfectly cooked for me.
Little fact- It’s not blood that leaks out of a steak, it’s Myoglobin, a protein found in muscle tissue.
Steak - R A R E ! ! ! There's no other way! :) In fact, I'm that convinced, the next time you find yasens in a steak restaurant, order ya steaks rare, or at least 'medium to rare' (To ease you into 'Rare World') If you don't like it, I will pay the bill, including all your drinks (except for Garvey's as I wouldn't be able to afford all of his) he he 😅
Len.
You forget how big Disney is , it’s actually a bigger foot print than greater Manchester
Even as an american I see an increase in tips for takeout. Its our culture for food service and other personal services. I work for tips also but as a casino dealer. My wage is 5.00 an hour with 30 years of experience. I appreciate tips and I do tip everywhere its expected. Good service gets better tips from me, otherwise I leave a basic 10% tip
Re tips , in a restaurant i would tip 20% if service is good , but if it’s poor 10% max , most servers know they have to provide a good service to get the tips , so I expect that level as a minimum. Re parks etc or counter service , no tips as like you say , the staff are normally paid better than the servers in restaurants or breakfasts etc.
Tips are up to you, I had a bad experience of a restaurant in Universal studios, all the server done was bring the plates to the table and we had to serve ourselves from a buffet. When I offered a very small tip the server got the hump, he done nothing, we even had to get our own drinks. Tips are being added in at some locations as compulsory, I will tip against the level of service, tipping in shops and bars where you go to the counter/bar is taking it big time. Sod them you will never see them again as a lot of people visit Florida once or twice only. Unlike yourself and others, difficult I even had the police called as I did not tip as the service was crap and the server threatened me.
I always tip no matter how much the bill is. But I always try pay in cash and another thing I always ask I'd the tip going to that one person or is it a group tip. If it's group tip I give little tip, if it's going to the 1 server who served you I'll give them a decent tip cause it's their lively wage.
I agree with you
Rump steak is the back cut of the cow, its tougher but far more flavourful than fillet. Fillet is often stated by chefs as being the most overrated cut of steak and imo is relatively bland unless heavily seasoned. When younger I would only eat med-well done steak, thankfully I grew out of that and can honestly say it zaps the flavour, med-rare is the only way I will eat it now.
If the products you were buying were cheaper then tipping would be ok, but prices are consistently high in any tourist area which is maximising the retailers profit margins and they are then expecting the customer to pay their staff for them too.
Really depends on the service we have never not tipped as it is the culture, but if we dont receive good service why should we pay an exceptional tip? Depending on the place we would tip between 15% and 25%. We love the food in hooters but the last few times we have been there once you have made your initial order you cant get hold of your waitress to order any additional drinks etc and when you are ready to pay she reappeared with the bill drawing hearts and smiley faces just to get the extra tip. Defo dont tip in shops or quick serve. What we did find last time which was unusual was we would pay with revolut and then write the tip on the receipt but the tip wouldnt be taken from revolut for a few days. So we bring cash now to pay for tips etc
Loving all these vlogs...these one with your parents is always class. When is the next trip... I can't wait. Keep up the great work, Andrew and Laura.
Not sure yet 😔
Thank you konker !!!
I only give 10% if the meal is brilliant otherwise no tip, allways pay on a prepaid cc.
