- MVTV was on location today at Capistrano Valley High School for an emotional reenactment of a DUI crash. The event was hosted by the Orange County Fire Authority, Orange County Sheriff’s Department, California Highway Patrol, Friends Against Drinking and Driving, Mission Hospital, Care/Falck Ambulance, O’Connor Mortuary, TIP and students from CVHS acting as the distressed teens during the mock crash.

I think i watched this over 100 hundreds of times just now and cried the entire time. I imagined myself as one of the victims and the people i love reacting.

It's only a reenactment, but many of us are still alive by the grace of God. It's an important message to all of us, young and old, that it CAN happen to us or those we love.
I remember as a child, my dad taking my sister and I to the hospital to say goodbye to my mom just before her brain surgery that she wasn't likely to recover from. Thank God she did but was never the same. The drunk the hit them head on got minor injuries.
Drunk driving will touch the lives of most of us in our lifetime, and we need to try and prevent or if at all possible.

My school did this too i was one of the student's that didnt go to class that day to reenact the dui victims scary how real this can be please dont drink and drive even if you think you can make it eat, sleep and or wait the appropriate amout of time before driving theres no restart button for this one. Just one mistake could be your last if you play with drinking and driving 😢

I lost my best friend to drinking and driving at the age of 18 back on New Year’s 2005. Almost 20 years later, and I still miss her and think about her every day. Thanks for doing these reenactments bc no one believes it could happen to them, and it can. Now there are so many other modes of transportation than when I was younger, or make sure to have a designated driver!

They did this at my high school in 08. They even had a helicopter fly out one of the students. And they had the drunk driver try and to take off on foot and he got tackled by the cops. All of the actors were theatre students who were all friends and seniors who were actually going to prom together so it added to the realism.

This reminds me of an accident I had several years ago when I was hit by a speeding motorbike while I was crossing the road with my husband and my little girl.
The driver was a teenager who borrowed that motorbike from his friend and doesn't have a driving license.
My daughter has bruises on her hands and legs. Her wrists also entangled in the motorbike chain.
If the motorbike goes a little faster, maybe my child could die because the veins in her wrist were cut, or it possibly make her disabled for life.
Meanwhile I was unconscious because my head hit the road very hard. Several of my teeth were broken. My left shoulder is dislocated. My hands and legs are injured and bruised.
I'm grateful for the MRI results which show that no bones in my head are cracked or broken. And I don't have a brain concussion.
Even though I still have to undergo observation for some time and my left shoulder still hurts to this day.
*But the most shocking thing is that accident happened while I don't even know that I was on my 1.5 months of pregnancy*

Got into a wreck on my way home, was in the fast lane next to the carpool lane and had my cruise control on. Guy in front of me was two car lengths ahead and kept speeding up and slowing down. The gap kept changing from 2 car lengths to 4-ish then all of a sudden he slammed on his brakes and I tried to do the same and evade into the middle lane which had been empty when I glanced.
The far right lane had a gold suv that decided to merge at that time. He noticed that I was merging too and hit his brakes to brake check me. I was already on the brakes and could not avoid the second car.
I plowed into the back of the suv at about 38mph according to my Jeep’s computer.
My seat ripped up from the floor and threw me into the windshield which cracked but didn’t break. Luckily I was unharmed, just concussed. My passenger side windows shattered.
I waited to ensure traffic behind me would stop and then began to try and extricate myself. As a former firefighter I knew the car could catch fire at any moment and that getting the vehicle out of the way was imperative for the safety of those behind me.
My door was jammed and I had to leverage myself against my center console to get the leverage needed to force the door open. I could only get about a foot of clearance. I got out and flagged a semi truck down.
The driver understood and blocked the right two lanes (Lane 1, and an exit lane) and this allowed me to put my car in neutral and push it to the side of the road alone.
I called 911 when I got the car parked and got a busy signal.
I ended up walking myself home. The other driver left the scene and never once stopped.
The next morning I called CHP who informed me no one else had called them. They declined a report and told me to go through my insurance who completely covered the accident and paid off my car. I was in a new-to-me (read as used) car 2 days after my accident.

My cruise control was on, I was wide awake and aware. I had just finished a 8 hour security dispatch shift and had 3 Mega Monsters that my drowsiness was contending with.
It really was scary though, I honestly reacted on instinct and ingrained firefighting training alone. I can’t say I acted on thought. It was all automatic. It wasn’t until I made it home that the gravity of what happened hit me.
