You nailed it. I drive a Focus ST right now and I put in an order for a hybrid Maverick. The fuel efficiency, bed, and payload rating are what sold me. The Maverick really appeals to people who want an alternative to the sedan/crossover.
I disagree, everyone I know that has a truck uses it to tow or load it heavily for work, landscaping their yard etc. But that could be just me and nobody else uses a truck for a truck

And, one has an old Toyota which sits for weeks at a time and hauls occasionally.
I could not disagree more with the fact that all vehicules should have all the various features such as cruise control and power windows etc. I just want an affordable, reliable new vehicule. And I think the industry has gone out of their way to force some really affordable to manufacture features in order to increase the base prices of their vehicules. I think what Ford did here is great. Just plain and simple, add the features if YOU want them.
It makes me sad that I feel I need to win the lotto or become a bank robber to afford a truck these days (even for a "mid-level" one). When 50k is "affordable" for a full size its depressing.
Yep, I buy used. However, I give the used vehicle a thorough inspection and test drive. I'm pretty knowledgeable of the mechanics, so it helps as well.
Keeping my 2005 ford explorer 4x4 with 285k miles for a little while longer. AC went out so I will get this fixed and wait another year or two before buying a new vehicle.
Maverick will be a hit for city and light farm work. If you want to tow medium to heavy then step up to the heavier truck. Don't try to make a Maverick a F-250.
The hummer EV is really just doing what all the other hummers did, show off. GM didn't make this truck to be economical, they made it to catch the attention of everyone and they spared no expense at throwing every bell and whistle they had at it. not to mention the high tech screens and fine interior and insane power. it's suppose to represent the futuristic EV path GM is taking. the hummer is expensive because it's suppose to be the poster boy super truck we all want, so they didn't care how much money they had to spend on the hummer to make one in no time at all.

Roman has become more and more snobby. 4K towing is fine, is you need more then there's the Ranger. Dampened tailgate for the price is unnecessary. Ford sells the dampener in their accessories shop but it interferes with the function to prop it open by moving the cables upward.
Roman missed the entire point of the Maverick. The Maverick is about efficiency, value and pragmatism. It's not trying to be a King Ranch F-150 or RAM TRX. Roman spent the whole time complaining that the Mav wasn't an F-150 🙄. Andre seemed to get it.

The Maverick was available to order in June and people have taken delivery of ecoboost models in September with the hybrids currently in production. I don't think it's a fair comparison.

The middle man have always complicated things in addition to marking prices up. Manufacturers need to find ways to deal/reach customers directly. Most dealerships don't even represent the manufacturer to the best of their ability anyway. Its all about making as much money as possible for the. Once they sell you the product... its a big middle finger afterwards.
I am looking for a new daily driver/ occasional off-roader. I like the look of the Bronco Sport but performance of the Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk. Dealers in Western Canada seem to be marking up the Bronco and Bronco Sport. It's hard to find a Trailhawk specced the way I want it. So, I am going to wait.
Never ceases to amaze me how little you guys know. Pretty much all hybrids since the 1st gen Prius use the electric motor only for reverse. It has to do with how the system works w/o a conventional transmission. The full size hybrid trucks are different, but they ate the exception rather than the rule.
This is just nitpicking but acceleration is about horsepower not torque. you can have a low torque, high horsepower fast car ( Mazda RX7) but you cant have a low horsepower, high torque fast anything. just FYI.

I just bought a new Tacoma because I couldn’t order the Rebel I wanted due to chip shortage. In my area used Tacomas are going for 40-42k used so buying new was an easy choice. Dealer asked for 2k in adjusted market value. I was gonna walk but I saw online dealers in CA charging 8-10k in adjustments. Ultimately I got them to drop it so I’m happy with my new truck. I figure the taco will hold its resale well while I wait out the crazy market.
If my wife wanted a truck I would totally look at the Hyundai or the Ford Maverick. It is a truck that truck is a tool and that tool is not a big enough tool for the job that I need to do

My problem with Roman's criticisms is that his requests are why we have large "mid" size trucks like the ranger and Tacoma now and why the mid size trucks aren't as affordable as the older ranger and Tacoma.

I didn't mind his criticisms but then he's like give it more towing, a bigger bed, a bigger engine, and no hybrid. It's almost like that's the reason why the ranger wound up being so big. Admittedly a single cab would allow the maverick to have a 6 ft bed, but they don't sell all that well anymore. The point is the maverick is competing with large sedans and crossovers. The bed gives more usability to the buyer and can be used to move most things the average person deals with like furniture and mulch. Ford and Roman both made the same mistake and assumed buyers would want more power, when the hybrid has turned out to be the more desirable engine. Especially on California where the maverick has been a very popular vehicle based on preorders

Kept hearing a metal sound found out about this and I explained they said they will have to “inspect” to see if it qualifies I told him that it’s a 2013 Altima and that I’ve noticed it’s pretty rusty in the back and it should qualify I don’t want to crash on the highway and they were pretty rude about it they said they will let me know its been 3 hours not heard from them yet we’ll see what they say

I've never liked Ford vehicles, but now the upgraded 2021 F150, the Bronco, and the Maverick, are hitting the mark. I like all these.

If you place an order you should be able to get MSRP. If you show up to a lot and try to buy one you'll likely see a markup.

Admittedly a single cab would allow the maverick to have a 6 ft bed, but they don't sell all that well anymore.
The point is the maverick is competing with large sedans and crossovers. The bed gives more usability to the buyer and can be used to move most things the average person deals with like furniture and mulch. Ford and Roman both made the same mistake and assumed buyers would want more power, when the hybrid has turned out to be the more desirable engine. Especially on California where the maverick has been a very popular vehicle based on preorders

Kept hearing a metal sound found out about this and I explained they said they will have to “inspect” to see if it qualifies I told him that it’s a 2013 Altima and that I’ve noticed it’s pretty rusty in the back and it should qualify I don’t want to crash on the highway and they were pretty rude about it they said they will let me know its been 3 hours not heard from them yet we’ll see what they say
