Nice work. Would love to see you try out some of our EOTG product tips with beginners.
I'm all ears if you are game to partner on something!
The bounce hit drill is actually great. It helps you become more aware of timing so you set up properly.
agree, I first read about it on "Inner Game of Tennis" book. Theory behind it is to focus on the ball, you are also supposed to say bounce hit for your opponent to keep track of the ball from the moment it comes into play.
yes my coach also tells me to do this
My coach has been trying to teach me the kick serve for more than 3 years. Your attempts going over the fence are better, than every single serve I have ever hit. Quitting my coach next week and practicing with the local fence.
Thanks for the advice ;)
how did your first session with fence coach go?
Omg I gasped so loud when you hit the ball in the fence - my friends and I always comment on that ball when we play at these courts! Hahaha we are so determined to get it down
legend says hes still following the shot.
"Loose grip, probably 2/5- probably a lot of user error there..." lmao
The ending accidentally shows how powerful it is to mix in a slice against a beginner. lol
We need to see a match between Kyle and Darby
honestly the "bouince-hit" one could go either way, I could see it being useless but also I think it would help if the people playing had better form, since the drill is about getting you to focus on your timing. It makes sense that if you have to think about your form and stuff while hitting then you may be overwhelmed by focusing on timing and form. I've also noticed in my own play that rallies against beginners who don't have a strong stroke makes the whole rally harder, especially harder to practice good/strong topspin hits off of balls you have to run for/higher bouncing balls, so the whole situation there was just not very suitable for those specific players, which is why I like how they just rated it with a "idk we cant tell"
These are good! Thanks for this!!
bounce hit is actually super useful in terms when to hit the ball after the bounce. Say it too fast you are hitting it on the rise which leads to mistakes, say it too slow you are waiting too late to hit it.
The loose wrist tip is a more advanced technique to get the “effortless power” you hear about a lot. It works but it is not as simple as just relaxing your grip.
What's more to it than relaxing your grip? I'm curious.
@@watcher687 You can easily lose control if you just relax your grip. So managing the follow through is really important. Also, to get the most of the whipping action, you need good index finger placement and then apply a small snap of the wrist just before contact.
Bounce, hit has been around as long as tennis itself. Very useful for beginners.
When you're trying to follow the ball you should do it after the ball has left the racket, otherwise you won't have a stable base where you can generate power from
whole point of the "bounce hit" drill is actually to stop thinking so much about the technique and all of the other stuff, and just focus on the timing, so it in reality is very effective
Wow, I've always said "bounce / hit" to myself on serve returns. I've found it somehow helps me time it, and not panic with the pace. And other times it's a reminder to actually let the ball start to come down on the serve return to ensure you actually hit up into the ball. Weird to see it here.
Slice drill looked like a 5/5 to me! Slices looked very nice after that.
Is there something on the camera sensor that needs to be cleaned up? looks like a thread or something 🤔🤔
i dont see it maybe its you
@@user-bc2kt5tw2d If you look 0:34 timestamp on darby's face as the camera moves, you can see a faint black curly line that moves with the camera.
Darc is a star - natural, effortless strokes. Celebrity appearance on a Sunday set?
wooo!
1) After hitting the bike tire it might be useful to imagine that the tennis ball is a little yellow wheel and that you’re doing the same thing as with the big tire. 2) Trey I know you’re worried about Kyle catching up to you and then dominating you in the future , but come on he is your brother. I’d be ashamed for people to see that I have a brother who serves using something as janky as a forehand grip. Especially since you know to serve with a Continental grip. It’s like you knew a tsunami was coming but you still let him go to the beach. You’re essentially dooming him to having a junk serve. 😢 3) I haven’t seen the drop hit vid, but when I was a beginner I spent hours doing this but it’s value lies not in repetition, but in the opportunity to apply your intellect to your tennis strokes. Drop and hit. Did the ball do what you wanted? Most likely not. Think why ? What can you change to make the ball obey your wish’s. With all the instructional vids on CZcams you probably have at least a rough idea. So on the next ball implement this new idea into the stroke. What was the result? Are you sure you implemented the new variable correctly? If not what other options have heard about? Keep experimenting until you get the result you want. You’re under no score pressure, no hitting partner to appease who demands that you hit a good rally ball. Screw up at your leisure but also fix inadequacies at your own pace. I’ve stood still between hits for several minutes just thinking what changes I need to make to get the ball to do what I want, be it speed, spin , direction, left /right , high/ low, deep/ short. Luckily the drop hit drill can be done against the wall if a empty court isn’t available. Especially in your formative years it’s more important to pay attention to the quality of your strokes rather than mass repetition since without quality control your probably just reinforcing bad techniques that will have to be fixed in the future if you want to reach your full potential. 4) The slice backhands you hit next to the fence we’re probably the best ones you’ve ever hit in your life technique wise. It’s a beautiful seedling that has the potential to develop into a great slice backhand or it could wilt into a weak stroke. The one thing I’d change is the lackluster way you grasp the racket throat on the take back with your left hand. The left had is critical in positioning the racket head properly especially during a match when there is time pressure on you. This bad habit may fly in practice but it’s going to lead to failures when pressure is applied.
Been watching for a little while now. Big chance you won't see this, but I've got a decent group of guys in the Austin area and we are always looking to play. If you ever have some free time, we would love to link up.
Take a look at mines (I'm Spanish so I'm better than all of that) jk😅😂

Another useless gimmick. Many kids learn how hit top spin without this useless bs.
