  • I wrote a python program to search a UPC from an online Database and scrape specific data into a table. This makes the task of inventorying a video game collection as simple as scanning the UPC on the back of the game.
I talk about how I did this with Python, raspberry pi, and pricecharting.com

I taught myself to program, so this code is...of that quality. This can be adapted for books or anything that has a UPC and associated database. I made this for my own application because why pay for an API when you can work around it?

This is fantastic. However I was wondering if this is possible with a scan in/scan out type of operation. I have well over a thousand games which I would like to know my stock levels overtime.

Hey Ryan, awesome work! What code did you use to input the scanner's barcode information into Python? Cannot seem to see that in your video. Thank You!

    Nice work bro,

well done, out of curiosity when you scan the bar code what you get is a serial number - of which then you use it accordingly to find information?

I really like your project, it gave me an idea to try something pretty similar. How did you manage to make the Barcodescanner work with your RPi? Did you use any external drivers? My Barcodescanner works perfectly fine on Mac and Windows and inserts barcodes almost anywhere I need them to be (Excel,Terminal) but my RPi doesn´t seem to like the idea... So if you have any suggestions, i couldn´t be happier... Looking forward to your response!
