    To get a true reading put it through a SWR meter and dummy load. You need a BNC TO SO239 adapter. Good luck!

    I have the same handheld and have 1.2 volt rechargables in mine. I get full 4 watts when I key up

    Hi again, I should explain, one battery box is for 10x1.2 rechargeables and the other is for 8x1.5 AA's. Both making 12 volts. Hope this helps. You can see what you should get in the pack if you look on Thunderpoles website 👍

    It seems like a design flaw t me, Most of the Realist and other Hand helds had 8 for 1.5v (With two dummy batteries) or 10 batteries, 10 x 1.2 volt=12 volts.

      @dexta1969 Před 2 lety +1

      I agree, I had a Realistic handy and a Midland Port-a-pak and used ten rechargeables or 8 with two dummy combinations with no problems

  • @Ossie12pints
    @Ossie12pints Před 2 lety +2

    You should have 2 battery boxes, one for 8 batteries and one for 10 batteries. Plus you won't know what power it does without connecting a dummy load. Hand held cbs rarely do more than 3 watts

    • @elixiriumgr
      @elixiriumgr Před 2 lety +1

      There are 2 boxes,one for 6 non rch battaries and the other box is for 8 rechargable battaries.6x1,5v=9v and 8x1,2v rechargable=9,6v

    • @elixiriumgr
      @elixiriumgr Před 2 lety

      Oŕ you can use 8 alkaline batteries 1,5v.8x1,5=12v. Thats how i use it outside for maximum power

    I had a midland Alan DS when I first came back to CB.
    I use to have it with me when I was out walking.
    Could hear people but I wasn't heard as range isn't good.
    I had it plugged into car with my 100w amp and a sirio.
    Only feedback I got, was that the mic modulation was very quiet.

    Love the channel mate I am a cb / radio enthusiast too , been doing it since the age of 19:; now I’m 44 .
    What would you recommend for a sybernet radio for punchy load audio , as a Mike .
    I prefer uniden an do have some but my old home base Harrier has vgo audio compared to all my radios .
    To be honest even the delta tune gets rid of a lot of static on the band some times .
    Thease days I’ve notices a lot more Q.R.M on the band fm .wich gives a lot of noise some times up to 9db .

    I've seen several videos mentioning this issue, where the power indicator on the display doesn't go all the way up, even with 12V power supply it doesn't go al the way to max. I got my 42DS this week and it has no issues like this at all. Even with just 6x rechargeable NiMH in the small battery box (so only 7.2V), the indicator goes all they way to max when pressing the PTT button. This is with the stock antenna. Wondering if there has been a bad batch, or a batch with poorly tuned antennas or so?
    Note: even in this video when he says it is now doing 4W, the indicator isn't going to max power (there is one or two more bars than can 'light up').

    I commented on the first video that the SWR dictates the output. This is to protect the output I.Cs

      @@RSPYT You'd think a company as big as midland would sell these with a properly tuned antenna.

  • @dav04ol
    @dav04ol Před 2 lety

    All rechargeable batteries are 1.2 not 1.3
    Also I've had the same radio twice and used rechargeable batts and never had the problem you've had.
    I'd say the radio wants turning up inside , the antenna is way out of swr or you've bought a shitter.
    Carry on messing about with antennas experimenting chances are you'll blow the final output transistor then there will be no watts

    Hi mate im really interested in cb but have never got one at the moment I am saving up to get a decent radio or even somthing to get me started I have looked at the thunderpole t-600 homebase cb pack as it's a resanble price. I'm looking for an antenna that could reach a decent range and a radio that is good and won't break/have any problems. I have also looked at the thunderpole t-800 I really like the look of it and have seen your other videos on it. Do you have any suggestions for a beginner on what kit to get/what you think would be good for a decent price?

    • @RSPYT
      @RSPYT  Před 2 lety

      Are Thunderpole doing a home base pack now? That’s alright then haha, the T-800 is alright. I haven’t tried the 600 yet. Look at iMax2000 for an antenna, very good antenna I have one myself.

    I’d send it back and get a refund. The seller is clearly not honest and has no shame about misrepresenting something as they have done here. I mean, the case is broken and the antenna is loose in the other video so I’d assume it was dropped and might have other hidden damage, like on the circuit board for example. He neglected to mention that major flaw and the other items included in the sale are useless because they don’t belong to the radio or even work with it. It also looks to be pretty old to be using AA batteries. Most modern stuff come with a rechargeable Li-ion battery pack that outperform those AA battery packs it comes with. That’s what I’d do if I was in your position, get a refund and then go buy something newer.
