Some additional tips for the zoo.
- ask the zoo volunteers when is the best time to see your favorite animal. Some animals like the cheetahs are great to see in the morning. I’ve even seen the zookeeper walking a cheetah down the road on a leash in the morning. Other animals you might only be able to see when they are eating.
- also if you are visiting from out of town, go ahead and buy the novelty cup and popcorn bucket. You can keep refilling all day for 1-2 dollars and you will have a souvenir for home.
- the beer cups are very nice and you can keep those as well
- also if you are a San Diego resident and plan to visit the safari park often, consider a pass that includes parking as parking is $20-$30 there.
I grew up less than a mile from the Bronx Zoo. I practically lived there during the summers in my youth. The San Diego Zoo has been on my bucket list for decades. I can't wait to go! Thanks for sharing this!

Hi Jay, great video. You definitely brought back memories. The last time I was at the San Diego Zoo, it was with my parents and brother back in the day on a family vacation. I will have to plan a vacation here in San Diego and Anaheim and hit up the San Diego Zoo, Sea World, and Disneyland.

I got a pass last year and me and my son loved it. It was awesome great local craft beers and fun times during the holidays. I'm even thinking of renewing our passes. Please do more videos this single mama would appreciate it very much.
its almost impossible to see the pandas. i think in the year i had a pass we only made it in once and it was chaos but soooo cool!!

I LOVE San Diego Zoo and Safari Park. Was sad when pandas had to go back to China. But still one of, if not the best, zoo in the country. Thanks for taking us along.

Hi Jay, thank you for the nice video. I made a tour with my daughter in 2019 and so we also visited your beautiful San Diego. We also saw the zoo, in my opinion the most beautiful one I have seen. Only we were too late to feed the giraffes, maybe we'll do that next year. Greetings from Holland 😊😊

Umm sir, I needed this video 3 weeks ago lol. We had a good time with the family. We were bummed that the pandas weren’t out but overall great place to visit. Also if you have triple A the tickets are around $55 but plus fees and taxes it ends up be around $65. Love the free parking.
Haha im 3 weeks late! $65 isnt bad, u saved a little bit at least. I wish safari park had free parking!

Haven't been to the zoo since I was a child. Been a long time since I've been to Balboa Park as well. Growing up in SD we had a lot of school field trips to these places.
Great memories going there as a kid!
I really took it for granted we had school trips to the San Diego Zoo when growing up. I even lived less than a mile away before. Now I’m adult, I’m like wow, this place is amazing.

I went to CA as a family vacation we went to LA,San Diego, Malibu, and more we did a road trip all around CÁ. When we went to San Diego we only went to see the zoo cuz I LOVE animals lol and I was like 10. Now I am 13. Ever since I left the zoo that day on our way back to the hotel I was like “ one day I will work at that zoo” and today I am saving money to do my university in CÁ at University of California, San Diego and work and the San Diego zoo!! Although I live in North New England :D lol!!
I used to live nearby and loved the zoo! I’d buy the annual pass and go in the late afternoon for a “hike” bc those HILLSSS ahah.

San Diego Zoo was always a bucket list trip for me but never made sense to make the trip from the east coast. Since taking a job in Washington State i've been twice in the 2 years I've been here now and it's still worth it to me.

That tip for taking the skyrail and buses are clutch. I went to the zoo a few years ago and walked the whole thing. I didn't even know the transportation was free!

Have only been to the San Diego Zoo once, in 1982 when I was 15 years old. It was my first trip to San Diego. It still looks amazing. It wore me out then and it is much bigger now so wow.

Thank for the video. That pass could be a decent price if you go a few times a year. When I lived there for 4 years i went to the Zoo a few times. I never made it to the Wild Safari Park. I did go to Sea World a few times.
For $30 more its definitely worth it.. if i go once more it will have made my moneys worth

This is a scientific zoo that actively works to conserves the species it exhibits. Only radicals are against facilities are against these institutions and usually have no experience or background in this field.
