      @saeshwaran Před 2 lety +8

      Although I stand by the movies’ decision on cutting RAB and kreacher. As it helps greatly with the Hallows part 1’s pacing and the flashback didn’t make much sense to me and felt out of place when considering Harry and Dumbledore’s experience in the half-blood prince.
      1. Kreacher broke way too easily(for a house elf working under the black’s for quite a long time he must’ve been a master at using words and keeping off the truth as the Black’s didn’t have a very clean history.
      2. Kreacher could’ve simply apparated out of the cave with RAB(according to the half-blood prince, the inferior attack begins approximately after a minute from emptying the bowl and retrieving the locket. Time more than enough for them to both apparate. Other than that I agree with your point the scene in the book was really emotional and heart warming.

    I think the only change that all Potter heads will universally agree that the films did better was Hedwig's death in this one.

      Well, I disagree. The scene doesn't make sense in the movie. Why would Harry let Hedwig go in the first place? That was extremely irresponsable. And how Hedwig knew that Harry was being attacked? And how Hedwig knew who was the real Harry? In the books it's sad and helpless, but that's how it's supposed to be. Adding random heroic moments doesn't make something automatically better.

    The movie skipped over how Harry becomes obsessed with the Deathly Hallows something which exactly happened to Dumbledore and also how Hermione gets downright scared about the existence of the Hallows, being in constant denial of it. It kind of tells you how despite being so knowledgeable, she can be narrow minded about certain things, not willing to think outside of the logic of the world.

      Shows Hermione is human and has flaws AKA not allowed especially in the later films, which sucks so much because it's one of the things that I could relate to her on, maybe not to that extent but I can understand the need for logic
      Also I doubt they wanted to put that bit about Harry thinking that the hollows could defeat the horcruxes because then they would have it seem as though someone other than Ron wanted the wand, one of many intentional instances of showing him in a bad light making it seem as though he's power hungry 🙄

The film just disrespects the entire book, but not including any of the dumbledore backstory, thats like the main core of the story, that’s what this is about, when you strip away all the amazing set-pieces, you just have a tragic tale of harry’s perception of dumbledore just gone. 28:42 Agreed. In the book there were loads of examples of Ron comforting Hermione and standing with her either in the Burrow or Grimmauld Place even against Harry's occasional snaps. and later on when they were locked in the manor, Ron went ape shit crazy as Hermione was tortured upstairs and Harry was urging him to be quiet. Non of that happened in the film.
    To the film's credit, they tried to hint such examples, but you can't portray Ron and Hermione close together and Harry isolated as they were talking behind him and stop when he is around, and Harry even confronted them before Ron's departure - was mentioned in the screenplay, but not in the film - and portray Ron being jealous that Harry and Hermione being close as they are.
    You can't do these two things together as bland as it was in the film. It's been said numerous times that the films did Ron bad and this series is a good testimony to that.
    Also Ron after Hermione treated his wound in the tent, his first thought was his concern about The Cattermoles and the muggle borns that they helped escape and he rejoiced when he found that they obtained the locket, and he - along with the others - had a good mood occasionally when there was good food around and not a constant grump like the films did.

But since Stanley wasn't in the film, it made sense to have Hedwig being the give away clue and adds depth to her final act with Harry.

    38:30-38:56 I one hundred percent agree. The movies should have taken that route.
    "In the book there was nothing to see." THANK YOU! The movie making it seem like Harry and Hermoine could be a couple always bothered me. I am curious if the movie's change on that is why the author said her comments about Harmony having a chance if she were to rewrite it. Perhaps she is wrong about the movie influencing her. If that is the case I am glad she finished writing before the movies showed their take on Ron's Harmony jealousy. Book-wise there would have to be a lot re-written to even make Harry and Harmoine actually like each other that way as neither character ever thinks about the other in such a way.
    The Harry and Hermoine dance moment is the worst moment in the whole of the HP universe canon or non-canon. The real problem with it is nothing leads up to it other than what the people involved with the movies wanted and Ron's jealousy and the crew wanting/needing drama between the trio. All of this doesn't just ignore book relationships, but also ignores setup movie relationships. Harry has been dating Ginny and doesn't break up to protect her, as in the book.

    The movies literally ruined Ron and ginny's character. Although for me, the harry potter books will always be superior to the harry potter films. But you cannot deny the fact that the harry potter films are the best book-to-movie adaptations. They just give you that nostalgia everything you watch them. I would personally love to watch an 8 hour long harry potter movie but lets just talk sense. And after watching the films, while re reading the books again (after countless re reads already) I see (in my mind's eye) the magical world which harry potter movies created. I in my imagination think of Daniel as harry, Rupert as ron, Emma as Hermione and all others in their respective characters. There can't be any other actors who could have done that.
    But the major problem with the films is the character of ron and ginny. Otherwise, I loved the movies. If these two (Ron and ginny) were portrayed the way they were originally written, it would have been such a flawless representation of the books. And its nothing to do with the actors. I cannot imagine anyone else playing the roles but its just the way these characters have shown completely opposite personality traits (which is the most problematic thing with the films). Ron was a bit jealous of harry in the books too but was never a complete a*s hole. Ron always stood up for Hermione and harry. When snape called Hermione an insufferable know it all, Ron was the one who stood up against snape and told him off while the movie ron was enjoying it and said that snape is right. Ginny was so confident, independent, charming, beautiful and mature in the books. She barely cried when harry told her that they can't be together anymore. She told him that she knew this was coming and was actually supportive. But the film ginny was just obsessed with harry and she was always crying and was not herself. It made people think that she might have given harry a love potion. They actually made it look like that Harry and Hermione were supposed to be together and are the perfect match for each other and that's why people who've only seen the films feel like that too.

    • @Heartshapedbox81
      @Heartshapedbox81 Před 2 lety +1

      I don't. But besides that, that's actually one of the issues, she wasn't ever crying. you said she was always crying and I realize what you mean with her not being herself but Ginny's literally never crying, not on any of the parts where she was supposed to be, not at the start when she's half laughing and half crying because she's sad seeing her brother's go and she can't come with, not when she wakes back up in the chamber after almost dying seeing a giant snake dead, they erased her from the scene going back into the castle (but I guess I shouldn't be surprised by that they did the same thing with Ron when he was in the hospital Wing inside the Half-Blood Prince AKA none of his family came to see him as they were supposed to) they skip Dumbledore's funeral so we can't go on that but she wasn't crying with everyone else in that scene either and last but certainly not least she was not crying when her own damn brother died! Whom she was close to, but you would never guess that by the movies, so no. they didn't have her being a crying mess because at least then that would have been a way for the audience to connect to her but instead they went the completely opposite route and seem to have instructed her to show no damn emotions! so that way the audience won't connect to her, you know who was crying all the time though?...

    I think a lot of people dismiss the attempt a romance between hermoine and harry in the movies because the books instill in us that they have no romantic feeling toward each other. But the movies seem to NEVER actually address this except once in the 6th movie when harry dismisses dumbledore's remark (which was also such a weird interaction). I also quite disliked how Dumbledore in general was portrayed in the 6th movie, he was almost whimsical and it was very different to the way he had been in past movies...
