I have the same problem. As a workaround you can open the TP, leave it open and press M to open the map. The TP shouldn't lag anymore while you have the map opened. Hope this helps
It's funny, it's been happening to me too, but only since this summer's patch where they made dx11 the default. And despite the fact that i was forcing dx9, crashes became much more frequent. I thought it was because I was running the game on linux, but clearly, there are other issues here.
For some reason changing my resolution from 4k to 2k fixed my TP, still cant preview items though

8:25 my buddy sold his first ascended weapon drop to a vendor because the weapon had the wrong stats and he didnt know about the conversion yet so he was happy for the BIG 1 gold payoff. Even worse was the fact it was an axe, perfect for his warrior main

Halloween is coming up and there is Lunatic armor set that comes from an achievement. Also, doing the Halloween dailies for 5 days gives a weapon box with select-able stats, permanently account bound and salvageable.

I explained how to and helped a new player full equip exotic gear last month, I talked about an hour before we were done with the gearing. So ye you’re very right, theres too much going on for new players.

i recently did my first skyscale questline and almost quit the game twice during it - it was painful but watching u on the side made it doable - its hard beeing a new or returning player these days - so many things to catch up to and i cant even find strike or cm fractal partys cuz i dont have 3k tokens or achievments

Biggest money mistake I remember doing, to this day, was needing some Thermocalactic reagent (Or whatever the spelling is)(Needed 200 of them). I bought 200 of it....to figure out very soon I actually bought 2000 of them -.-. Thankfully, my guild at the time helped me liquidate over mails (some bought full stacks, some bought just a 100 or so)

You should have mentioned that sigils are multi use, you can extract them with black lion kit or upgrade extractor. You aren't wasting the 10g on the sigil.
i gotta say, while the salvaging system seem like too many extra steps, i actually think its one of the more fun/interesting part of the game (also tp selling n stuff). in games like assassins creed (the more recent ones), one of the key things to do is salvage ur unneeded gear (90% of the gear u get is bad) and collecting mats from the map to fund ur main gear upgrades/crafting. its so good! i love how just playing the game i slowly accumulate everything i need, and its always a happy moment when i get to the blacksmith and i already have all the necessary mats. it makes earning loot and collecting from map feel more immersive and invested than simply farming currency and just buying gear from a shop. i love finding a new collection or gear and be able to go through my bank/mat storage to see how i can work this out using just what i have instead of immediating buying (like right now i need 100 amalgamated gemstone, instead of buying from tp I'm actually using the orbs in my inventory that i never touched to convert instead. i love that i can do that instead of only depending the wallet gold. same with map currency too, i was able to buy ascended rebreather the other day with unbound magic because i was hoarding the winterberries so much in the past lol

Honestly, it took me forever to realize that i had all this gold locked away in my deposit area. I was level 8 with 6g to my name because I salvaged everything and deposited everything. I thought I would need it for something later, but that was before I understood horizontal progression. Now I use the trading post every time I get something and when I want something I just buy it. Life is so much easier now, thanks for this series, it's awesome!

What about a major sigil of bursting? It gives 3% condition damage instead of 5% if you cant afford the superior sigil
But what items are we supposed to KEEP?!?!?! This is the overwhelming part of the game.
If you don’t know take the gold. Trying to keep track of all these items is in fact impossible. Go with the mindset of seeking out materials once you know you need them for something, if you previously made some gold off material that would have sat in your bank for a month or more till you needed it, no biggie. You have just learned a tidbit and you can go seek those materials with purpose. And then you’ll learn the use of another piece and another.
I had to explain sigils & runes to someone yesterday, you did a bit better than I did I think, but then I was talking to someone who hasn't played the game at all yet, just watched streams of it like mine. Probably would have helped if I had been on my main account so I could SHOW instead of just on my new Steam one where I have nothing to hold up as example.

Caution, the starter gear is not salvageable. So the 10 gold spent on Firebrand runes is lost. True, upgrade extractors can remove them but not worth the cost.
I speak as someone who spent my first 2 gold on the legendary Grandmaster's Training Manual and realize I didn't have enough silver to waypoint. lol Good times.
This is a good point. However, upgrading the starter gear isn't necessarily a bad decision. Firebrand runes are very good for this build, and probably worth the investment. I'd at least grab Balthazar runes, which are quite cheap, and good for soloing with any flavor of condi guard.
So, there is a way to remove the rune and if yes how (without using the extractor thingy)?
As far as I know, just upgrade extractors for non salvageable gear. 3 of them cost 250 gems(73 gold at current exchange). Extractors can be purchased with 3 Black Lion Statuettes for one. I used my statuettes to buy a permanent Choya mining pick when it was available.
Definitely would not put in a set of Tormenting runes, lol. I'd go for Balt too. Just realize that Teapot might be going for the "I'm rich you know" title so 10 gold is nothing.
Those early poverty days in gw2 where 2 gold for dailies would be crazy. Walking to meta events. All the beggars in LA asking for gold. A set of Shiro's armor was about 22 gold. You'll never catch me waypoint to Cantha like Teapot.
One thing to consider is having too much celestial gear: the toughness can draw aggro(happened in a bounty and I switch stats after, lol) With two gear templates, maybe buy some cheap armor like carrion and put in Firebrand runes.
@@ZaggaZye The main way people remove runes is by salvaging armor with Black Lion Salvage kits. This destroys the gear in the process. You'll slowly get Black Lion Salvage kits from achievement rewards, dailies, and birthday gifts. It's good to save some for this use - salvaging old gear with expensive runes/sigils in it. The reason this doesn't work on the boost gear is because they made it unsalvageable.

For selectable stat armor, Verdant Brink has 5 armor pieces that can be bought for 1 gold and 500 airship parts. An armor box that contains the chest piece is a possible drop from the meta. Wvw gives one free armor piece for completing bronze tier each week. But as a new account, earning pips in wvw would be harder. Plus learning how wvw works and how to get and keep participation to earn pips is something...that Teapot can explain. lol
true but it adds up if you do pvp, wvw, pve. I have 80 of those boxes just sitting there
Forgot to mention that the Blade and Warlord(wvw) sets can be salvaged with a Black Lion Salvage Kit to get back the runes.
Also, there are reward tracks that give armor with selectable stats that are salvageable. POF Bounty hunter armor can't be salvaged. You can check gear with any salvage kit. Click on the kit and anything red in your inventory can't be salvage.
How long on avg would It take a newbie (with or without) help, to farm 2500 airship parts in HoT?
@@ZaggaZye depends the hours you play and getting a map working on the meta, but in my experience it takes 3-4 full day/night meta events to get enough airship parts for entire set of armor. The glove box is an uncommon drop from any mob, so I always buy that one last.
@@ZaggaZye I realize I'm using some old assumptions. Berserker armor had cost 2 to 5 gold per a piece. But now we can get them for a gold or less. One thing Blade armor has is viper stats. When HOT came out, we could only craft viper and right now its about 12 gold for one piece of exotic armor. So, maybe worth the grind.
I could only estimate airship parts. Wiki says we get 3-68 per airship cargo. So on average, it would take opening about 70 of them to get 2500. The key is crowbar which we can only get from doing events. I found 23 glove boxes in my bank, lol. Those drop from airship cargo, so if you get one, that's 500 less parts.
I think GW2 started with 6 armor stat sets. Now, gearing up can be complicated and sometimes expensive. Not sure if there are guides for gearing on the cheap.

I didn't want to make a mistake of selling something that I might need, so I was stashing everything in my alts. I don't like crafting, but I need it for some achievements and ascended and legendary crafting.
Are there other stat selectable exotic weapons? Iron legion only has gs, sword, pistol, rifle and staff

which gear pieces/runes/sigils would you recommend for a new lvl 80 necromancer reaper? Is there a good website with that kind of class based info?
Teapot my good old streamer friend, what is the most paper and deadly thief build I could use to record closing maps and doing story from start to EoD ?
For looking up what gear you should buy I always use "/wiki Equipment Query" in the chat so that I can open up the wiki page that lets you search for weapons/armor easily with different filters.
Fun fact if you buy all 3 sets of the antique set light/medium/heavy you get an accended cape with selectable stats. So around 36g for all 3 sets and you get accended. Alot easier then doing fractals , gathering claws and forging the quiver. Actually about the same price as the claws would cost with none of the extra work :)

For rare unidentified gear i just dismantle them and sell the glob, there is a chance you get more than one.

I think I’m breaking through this wall of omg what’s this item for. It’s way easier just to take the profit on crafting material rather than sit on it and wonder. As I organically absorb information or stumble upon an achievement item that needs a bunch of parts I can then focus on those things. Trying to hoard everything and deduce it’s future use nearly broke me lol. Everything has a use and all material can be found again when you have more knowledge.
I thought I would need 6 runes per item, so I bought 36 with instant buy, well, lesson learned :D
One thing I don't understand about the TP is this: For any item, there are buy/sell orders from potentially years ago isn't there? So potentially you might be filling or selling to someone who's not playing, which is not an issue but I noticed that items like skins, and niche items can be up on the TP forever not being sold. Is there a good way to sell obscure things (such as really rare exotics or Black Lion skins) instead of selling low or waiting potentially months to sell?
Technically you could do trades with other players if you really want to make sure whoever you're buying from or selling to is someone still playing or not needing to wait months instead of just dealing with the TP. Personally, as long as I get whatever I'm paying for or whatever gold I'm selling the item for I don't really care if it goes to some abandoned account as new items are being generated so someone new can still eventually get what they want.
If you are wanting to circumvent the TP check out Overflow Trading Conpany for large ticket items. If you are worried your item is obscure, it sounds like you just want marketing? Like you want to spam map chat for people to know they can buy your item for a good price? The fact that there are orders to buy eternity for 1 copper or selling a carrot for 999 gold that have sat on the tp for 10 years doesn't really impact your situation at all. Or I'm not understanding.
Recently i got Ghastly Grinning Shield Skin from those twitch drops. Its worth is 541 and 734 and i got in the end 661 Gold. First value, 541 Gold is for instantly selling, second number 734 Gold is listing sells. To put it on TP i pay araund 35 Gold and after 2 week van it sells i got 661Gold. So taxes are araund 65 Gold. All together roughly 100 Gold taxes in this transaction. I didn't wont to go out of the game to sell this, it's not sooo big amount.👻

I just crafted 2 pieces of ascended armor for the money he spent on those celestial weapons. Idk if celestial is just a lot more expensive then berserker but I can get a 4 weapon set for like 4g on the tp
Celestial is just more expensive. It has high demand + low supply due to the difficulty and high cost to craft.
maxing a crafting discipline is also expensive

If you're new then salvage them. The luck you gain will really help out your account. It maxes at 300%
Fast Farming website has a section called "unid gear" about these if you want to go full analytics about it. In general, my advice is, if you want to be optimal, check that website and decide whether to open it and salvage based on what it says. If you just want simple gold without having to think too hard about it, then sell on the TP. However, as Chase pointed out, if you're new/newer to the game, you'll want to work on building up your Magic Find at some point and you build that up through salvaging gear and consuming the Luck that drops from it. So that is def a factor to consider in what is most valuable to you personally.
I am always torn about selling stuff I know I will eventually need versus just getting the cash now. I suppose it’s ideal to expedite straight cash over materials one would theoretically spend on legendary stuff later (e.g. aurene items), but does one not ultimate pay more things due to marks ups and taxes? So if is sell mats only to need to buy them later on, am I not losing money?
There's always the chance when planning for possibly years in advance for newer players, when crafting legendaries might become an interest, that you just get bored or some situation makes you stop playing. PC breaks, you move and internet connection becomes a problem, you name it. For many, the most important thing is playing the game the most fun way asap. Also could make the argument that if selling those mats get you the equipment for your main and alts to start(for example) alt-parking a couple weeks earlier, you could even make more money than you "lost" by selling mats in the long run

Do more metas, follow more story lines, explore more. Then after about 20x the amount of time he took you will be able to "find" 10s of gold worth of things you accrued 😅

Central tyria mastery points from going through the maps and related achievements. There are some good perks in that mastery line.

I firmly believe that the level 80 crafted weapons look like pearl weapons do to increase skin diversity in the game. You just HAVE TO transmute them to some other look.

Just another note, if you sell instantly to a buy order you dont pay the listing fee, so you only get charged 10% tax instead of 15% its actually not always better to list an order

I disagree. Right-clicking something to sell isn't a skill, it's a method.
The skill is knowing what materials are *more beneficial* in your bank than in the market. Something that will vary dramatically by goals and activities of the player and can only really be improved with immense intimate game knowledge.

Don't you need an expansion for the corresponding LWS episodes? If it is you can't use LWS with core. I was about to suggest to buy gems with gold (and tea showed how to earn it in this series ) but since you can't sell on TP with core it's irrelevant. May be fractals

I don't get why Anet left runes in the game after the rework with the relics. They should've removed runes and rune slots from equipment completely and made a separate rune slot on the character sheet, just like with the relic. Having runes as item upgrades doesn't make any sense because it's mathematically mandatory to have all 6 of the same type, so why have 6 at all? I get that there are a lot of small adjustments to be made with such a change, but we can't keep accumulating technical debt into the game because it's becoming cumbersome and confusing for players. Heck, make it a slot that can't be freed unless you use an upgrade extractor on it if you want to keep monetizing the feature, it would still be better.

Tbh I think it is very bad idea to spend over 3 gold on any exotic level gear. You could just play with whatever you have and get the gear from random sources throughout the game. It would be more helpful to actually draw a map of how to get the fastest exotic gear for free so you could start from that content. You might not be able to get the best stats immediately but this way you could save about 100 gold easily which you could spend somewhere else. 100 liquid gold can be very valuable in the beginning because you don't want to sell anything to avoid tax cuts (and this way bring you more gold in the future)
The next series needs to be Hero to Legend where you go into detail and min max getting gold by looking at charts to sell at the best time and getting all the extra little bonuses that start adding up etc.
