2016 R6. Everything is connected and used the splice and when the bike is in the ON position the license plate light turns on and stays on. When I start the bike it stays on for about 40 seconds then turns off for about 5 seconds then back on for about another 5 seconds and it repeats while the engine is running. Any suggestions?
SammyOnAYammi The R6 uses bullet connectors. Those are pretty easy to find locally. If you have a hard time locating them contact us and we will help you out.
+Bob Larson You can reuse them but their removal is a pain. The best thing to do, if you are installing on a bike other than 07-12 600rr, is to splice into a portion of the wire with the oem plug that comes off with the original setup.
Danny Pan You can use a voltmeter to find out what your bike's harness wires polarity is. Then connect the black from the license plate light to the negative, and black/white trace to the positive. If you don't have a meter you can try it one way and then if it does not power up switch it to the opposite configuration.
The red clamps were really giving me hell and not connecting the wires properly. After like 10 times of trying, I just said screw it, stripped the wires and twisted them up and wrapped them in tape. Works just fine in case anybody else has the issue.
DangerSandler When I do these installs I typically solder and heat shrink the wires. For those that don't have the tools the red crimps are ideal. The trick is to use enough force on the metal piercing element so that the wire gets connected. Using pliers this is pretty easy. Whenever I have to use them I usually get it on the first shot. I am glad to see you got it working.
i bought the light and worked perfect for a week and it died, so i asked for a new one. How do connect the new light to the bike? Do i cut the previous wire?
Never mind, I got my answer from one of your previous responses: "No, this is a universal license plate light that works on any setup. It has nothing to do with signal removal."
Hi Bart, What size of splice connectors come with the kit (I believe wire guage size is what I need)? I busted one of mine that came with the light and I need to know so I can replace it. I'm new to all this DIY and I got one to splice perfect but the other one I bent the metal piece. Thanks!!!
The ones we use for this kit are 18-22. I can give you some at no charge if you pay the shipping but I think it will be quicker and more cost effective if you go to a local store and pick them up. I believe Lowes sells them for 1.99 / pack of 5
TSTindustries Thanks for the offer. You guys have to be one of the best companies I have ever dealt with. Your customer service is top notch!!! I'm telling everyone in Canada to go with your guys products :) I will check locally I'm sure I can hunt some down. This is my first attempt at working on any bike. I've ran into snags but I'm learning thanks to you guys. I cracked my servo case trying to install my fender eliminator as well so I will have to order the part but I don't regret trying this stuff on my own. I need to learn. Your videos are fantastic BTW.
That is a symptom of a short circuit. It sounds like you are connecting the positive coming from that fused circuit right to ground. We discontinued this license plate light a long time ago so i am curious which license plate light you are trying to install.

@@TSTindustries how do I check which fuse I blew? This is my first bike (ktm rc 390) My bike was running while wires were exposed (very very stupid of me) The two wires touched each other I heard a pop my headlights and bike shut off my HUD was works but my starter switch does nothing now
By putting that on the license plate you're covering the state letter. The nj cops will be an ass about it. Cops will say you're covering New Jersey letter on the plate and gives a ticket.
Thanks for the clarification. When I lived in NJ all my bikes had these license plate lights on them and I never had any trouble with the law for that. In any case, we do recommend checking local DOT laws before installing any aftermarket equipment.
KIV FIR We recently finished the design of a new license plate light system with advanced optics, four SMD LEDs that are three times as bright as the current light's LEDs, and a mounting system that attaches to the back of the license plate. The light capsule will float at the top of the license plate and will not block any of the license plate graphics. We are cutting the molds for the enclosure now and will have the first production protos ready within the month. After we put them through adequate testing we will offer them to the market. This new light system will also have a better connector setup, without the need to use the Tap-Splices.
What happenes when you have to switch out your license plate?
Thanks you. Followed instructions and it worked flawlessly.
Awesome!
Also for the 2013+ CBR600RR the brown wire is the power (positive) and the green wire is the ground (negative)

How about for a 2008 600rr? I have your guys' integrated tail light but would like to run the license plate light too..
You can refer to time-stamp 10:44 in the video to find the solution you are looking for.
are the wire splicers reusable? should the wires be spliced as close to the original splice as possible?
+Bob Larson You can reuse them but their removal is a pain. The best thing to do, if you are installing on a bike other than 07-12 600rr, is to splice into a portion of the wire with the oem plug that comes off with the original setup.
What happens to the rear turn signals? I can only use these kits if I installed an integrated taillight?
+Juan Perez No, this is a universal license plate light that works on any setup. It has nothing to do with signal removal.

Do these only fit the "TST fender eliminator kit" or will it fit stock or other fender eliminator kits?
Hee 3 these lights work with any fender eliminator.
So 07-12 600rr does not need load resistors for this product?

Well done ;) Great job as usual
Thanks buddy.
Is this about the same for the 2013 CBR600RR with your fender eliminator for it? Thanks!!!
Dan P Yes, it should be very similar.
