    You will also need to pass a two-part examination.
    115 Questions of Law & Business
    115 Questions of HVAC
    The trade portion of your examination will include the following sections:
    1. Evaluation, Design, and Estimation (26%)
    • HVAC system design and evaluation
    • Load and psychrometric calculations
    • Duct system design and layout
    • Job cost estimation
    2. Fabrication, Installation, and Startup (27%)
    • Duct system fabrication
    • Equipment installation
    • Electrical and mechanical components
    • Plumbing and refrigeration components
    • Air distribution and duct systems
    • HVAC system startup
    3. Troubleshooting, Repair, and Maintenance
    (22%)
    • HVAC system diagnostic tests and
    evaluation
    • HVAC system maintenance or repair
    4. Safety (25%)
    • Personal protective equipment (PPE)
    • Job site safety requirements (Cal/OSHA)
    • Handling hazardous materials

    It is important to remember that California takes the Health and safety of workers and the environment very seriously. HVAC installation and repair can be extremely dangerous especially if your workers are untrained.
    You will 100% want to review California OSHA standards before taking the C-20 license exam. Make sure that you are also familiar with safety hazards and worker's rights especially if you are applying from out of state.

    How can I apply if my past employer will not sign my employment verification form, stating that I did worked 4 years under them. .? Is there another way.

      Yes, you can have a fellow employee, business associate, fellow journeyman, or licensed contractor sign off for you as well.

      Hello Benito, no the NATE certification is not a specific requirement for the C-20 License. In California, you must have 4 years of journeyman-level experience.

    I have 6 yrs work experience in China before.I live in califonia now,Can i use a notarization to prove my work experience? i already obtained EPA 608 universial and community college HVAC diploma in Califonia.

      Hello Arthur. The CSLB is no longer stating an exact passing score requirement, however, it is believed you will need to score between 70-80% to pass.

    Is this license required for a duct cleaning busses in California?

      There is no classification specifically for duct cleaning, however, based on the CSLB public portal, the contractors who do specialize in these services, appear to hold this license: digitalconstructive.com/c61-license-d64-non-specialized-license/

      Got it now is that only for commercial jobs or residential as well and do u know anything about Ohio thank you
