  • Hey y’all in this video I will be going from the crime infested streets in the 4th ward to the wealthy streets of the East Side. The area around East Side Park has very nice homes when mansions near a beautiful park overlooking the Passaic River and Route 20 aka McClean Blvd. The city of Paterson gets a bad reputation for rough neighborhoods but you can find good in every city.

Thank you. Excellent video. I grew up on 17th Ave and E39th St. Very accurate. I would visit my parent’s house and go for a walk downtown - just a mile walk to the hookers and gang areas by the library on Broadway…then come back home to the mansions and tranquility of Eastside Park. Don’t understand how such disparate areas can exist so close together. I love Paterson. The Great Falls are a true treasure! But Paterson is like real life - Fabulous Highs, and Horrible Lows. Good Job! Thank you very much.

Enjoyed this video. I can't believe this is the first time you have visited East Side Park! It's amazing. 60+ years ago in my childhood I played in that park often with my cousins. For a while my family lived nearby on McLean Blvd. The big house with the US and Vatican flags was probably the long-time residence of the vatious bishops of the Paterson Diocese. Thanks for posting.

I loved this video. I grew up there and lived there through 1989 until I moved to Florida. I loved my childhood and growing up there. That hill you're standing on, I used to go there when I was a kid during winter with a plastic bag and slide down the hill in the snow....and yes that area you're in by the Park near Elmwood Park is the nicest area of Paterson NJ. I lived about 4 blocks from the Park and would walk there. I cannot believe the Cherry Blossoms and flower trees are all still there.....loved that area of Paterson.....WOW this vide really took me back....thank you for making it.

I’m from Paterson and it’s black and Hispanics “not just black” and if alot of blacks are unemployed part of it is bc Hispanics get the opportunities over blacks (must be bilingual ) Black people don’t stick together like hispanics. Which is sad. Hispanics usually have their own areas they run (they run a lot of the businesses and they also some that’s unemployed on welfare, selling drugs and doing crime as well)
And alot of middle/high class blacks live in those nice neighborhoods your exploring. I know plenty of them.
My point is it’s not fair to just point t out black people when it’s clearly not. I think you should go and explore the ghetto hispanic areas as well.

@angelastarr1603 Right😂 “its mostly the black” .. most of those mansions are black owned😂 those “hard working” hispanics aint living like and can barely afford thats why they working/slaving so hard

@@wingmanmelly Exactly! My point is just to say that it’s not ALL black people in regards to Paterson. It may seem that way but we are NOT the only kind of people. You have mixed communities, black and Hispanic communities that live in run down areas and make Paterson bad. In those mid /high class neighborhoods ALOT of black people live there also. So let’s not be ignorant about that! I personally know a few I’m from Paterson born and raised. I don’t live there anymore but I started off in Alabama projects later my mom came up financially and bought a house then we moved out of state and came up even more. So it’s not all black people that don’t do better in life. I hate that mindset from certain nations of people that already have an upper hand in life just bc of their nationality alone. Or Hispanics and other nationalities thinking they are better. But I never let that be an excuse for me not to elevate in life and I’m a black woman started from nothing. I got my start by joining the military.
