- This video shows highlights of a week spent on the Cumbrian coast line in the UK in the latter part of June 2015. The major attraction was, of course, the introduction of loco hauled services using Class 37 locos from the DRS fleet, which were also to be found on many of the nuclear flask trains bound to and from Sellafield. Making the area even more attractive was the plethora of semaphores and active signal boxes, as well as the stunning seascapes along which a good portion of the line runs.
One of the most beautiful things ever 😍
I love the look of these locomotives and the exhaust sounds
Great sound quality - really does the 37's justice - and great weather shots! I could almost feel the wind and smell the sea.
I get one of these every morning between Barrow and Ulveston on my way to school, it's brilliant because just as we pull into Ulverston the flasks come the other way from Crewe to Sellafield.
@2:45 I see a new house being built on the right side of the video frame. What a GREAT place to live!! Railfanning at it's finest!!
Superb video. Thanks so much for the great semaphore footage. Love those deep clicking noises!
Jaw dropping. I love the walk from Braystones to Nethertown.
Nice footage - you cant beat a bit of Tractor thrash
Fantastic videos just great to c 37s
I could blow my speakers up with this vid! But what a way for them to go........
This is a really excellent video of this subject, good videophotography and the good selection of lineside points makes it all.
A dramatic scenery also.
When this service continues this summer I will spend 4 days on this line, I usually spend my summer holiday working on the East Lancs Rly, the Cumbrian coast is just 1.5 or 2 hours distant from Bury, so I will fit it in.
I saw also a glimpse of the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway, it's a miniature railway opened in 1915 as a tourist atraction after the original 3' line closed, it was regauged to 15" then.
There's another miniature railway at the opposite end of England, the Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch in Kent, using the same gauge.
+dieselmupke Thanks for the compliments and good luck on your trip this summer.
Some imaginative locations. I particularly like 7:05 and 32:20, and the cross at St Bees. Working semaphore distants are quite rare now, but there seem to be plenty on that line.
AndreiTupolev The stretch between Millom and Silecroft has two level crossings with ground frames and manual gates. They are so close together that the distants are on the homes of the preceding crossing. There is also token working from Whitehaven through St. Bees to Sellafield. I will do another video with more of the signaling action on this line.
You Can't beat tractor thrash ive choked on oil + diesel off them many of times nothing beats it lol 😆
Thanks for sharing
The locomotive sounds like a tractor which is great.
ewsdneax61eaxe10 Yes, one of the nicknames for the Class 37 is "tractor". They are also known as "growlers" or "syphons".
Good video of these noisy growling beasts 🥰🤩😍
Sizeable yard there at Barrow......
How the Island of Sodor would look in real life!
Did they ever find who stole the brass placards off the 37s? IT's been quite a while, for that.
No idea. I'm not from the UK so haven't heard of the problem.
Where was this yard at? Interested with the Semaphore signals
Barrow in Furness to Workington UK, also known as the Cumbrian Coast line. The semaphores at Barrow have been replaced, not sure of the rest of the line.
@@fmnut Ahh gotcha
Great work; not only is the videography excellent, but the sound is too!
