Is this Batman Returns figure better than McFarlane Toys?

Beast Kingdom has almost rang a familiar tune to me, but was never moved enough to pick up a figure from them after seeing their rough early releases. It wasn't until the recent Batman Returns model that made me go "Ayy yo", pick them up and turn on the camera.

When a figure comes from speciality shops and not mass-market retailers and cost double (or more) the mainline you're comparing it to, then no, it's not going to "kill" that other line.

I wouldn’t put him with anybody I would just pose him by himself. Scale isn’t really something that turns me off. I’ve got my marvel legends posed with my DC guys. It doesn’t bother me too much

“Normal” stuff is 6”. McFarlane is 7”. This is 9”. There are going to be issues if you collect more than one franchise.

To be fair, McFarlane will likely make a Returns Batman. Not only are they doing the older movies, but they have the mold for the Returns suit. The Flash had a figure of the Returns suit painted as the flash. All they have to do it paint it black and give it a new head and accessories.
I think the tiny rectangular gadget is his microphone to command the Batmobile "stop" and "shields open." But he uses this in the first film I believe. This version should've had the programmable Batarang not the regular from the first movie.

Hey David, another good thorough review as usual. By the way, SHF not only did a Flash Keaton figure, it did do a 1989 Keaton as well, although it wasn't nearly as well-received or highly -regarded as NECA's.
Also, to be picky, the golden capsule utility belt should be golden and not match the yellow of the chest emblem... ;)

They did a great job with this one but I just sold mine on eBay. He just doesn’t fit into my collection being 8” tall. I also was annoyed with the cape.
Love this figure I bought it recently. It would be interesting to have the comparison of the hot toys version with this one side by side
I collected the old school Halo figures by Joyride as a kid, so I’ve always had a weakness for big chunky figures. This figure is right up my alley in a way that’s so specific to the kind of figures I like that I just can’t wait to get it. My first Beast Kingdom figure was the Michael Keaton Batman from The Flash movie. It’s honestly one of my favorite figures of all time. The likeness is unreal, joints are nice and tight, no cheap or loose feeling joints. I know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but for me this will be my definitive Batman.
I found this figure in a toy store at the mall near me. I usually never go into that toy store because the person who owns the toy store comes up to you as soon as you walk in to tell you about some dumb deal he has on board games or some shit. I was very surprised to find this the one time I actually go in
It’s an excellent representation of the returns suit, but the accessories are not correct at all. First he doesn’t use the darts in the movie, the lats one it’s a control for the Batmobile that he use in 89, they miss the automatic batarang, the line launcher, the acid capsule, the control for scrambled penguin’s signal.
My biggest issue is that the chest looks bloated almost. It's a lot rounder than I think it should be. My one and only figure from beast kingdom is the 89 Joker and he looks amazing. Huge recommendation

Honestly I'm used to these types of capes since the Mezco Batmans came with a similar type of cape. Still this guy, the Batfleck and Aquaman are on my pre-order list.
Quite strange that the accessories he comes with are all based of on the 89 movie not from Returns.
Well observed also they didn't put the remote controll batarang wich Batman use against the clown gang in fact they just copy the 1989 accessories
I have two beast kingdom, one is ben adn one is Bale and honestly love them but i wouldn't coin it a mcfarlane killer

I can’t get over the cowl moving and sticking up. The cowl has to stick to the cape. We can’t have points sticking off the body.

I really thought they were super expensive, but I could not believe they were in such a great price here in MX, so I just bought this and The Flash version, they are absolutely amazing

For its price point this is an awesome figure, I got mine probably you got a bad copy because I don't have any problems you got with your copy.

This is far better than the 1989 BK that they did, I just wish they had used all plastic instead of that pleather suit which so didn't work.
This is not a McFarlane killer not only due to its scale but the price as well. Some people would pay a premium but there are a lot of people not willing to pay way more for a figure. You need to be in the same price range for it to be a killer or competition.

certain companies have the right to do certain scales. spinmaster has the license for 3.75 inch, mcfarlane for 7 inch etc. thats why beast kingdom does 1/9 scale

Beast Kingdom in my opinion could be the hot toys of the 8-inch if they stick to the more fabric costumes Etc

Beast Kingdom scale is a mess. I have the BK Wonder Woman and she scales well with McFarlane 7" figures. I bought it because it's better looking than McFarlane Wonder Woman 84 although BK articulation really do kinda suck.
Agree. The earlier DAH ones are just a tiny bit bigger than MCF. Newer ones are almost an inch taller.

I am not the biggest McFarlane fan, but I think this is kindda unfair comparison, the scale and price are not the same, BK must have a better figure if you are paying 60 dlls.
McFarlane has been pretty lazy outside the B&R line (I suspect a Forever/Returns line will also be good..)

Think this figure is amazing. For 60 dollars its mini hot toy. Mcfarlene which i collect completly different market and entry level compared to this
Fisher Price Little People toys are McFarlane killers. Dollar store knock off GI Joes are McFarlane killers. A potato with string wrapped around it is a McFarlane killer. I have about five McFarlanes and they're all fatally flawed in some important, improbably basic way.
Great sculpt! Can't move the legs. Great detail! None of it painted. 22 points of articulation! Half are useless. Lots of articulation, great detail, great paint apps! Oops, the leg fell off as soon as you touched it.
(for real! Arya Stark figure - watched the Fwoosh review Robo did, bought one for myself...'surely' I think 'That was just HIS figure;' the EXACT thing happened to my brand new one straight out the box.

Yeah I just looked this up on eBay and it’s over a hundred fuckin dollars. That is in no way going to replace a $25 figure. It’s not even the same ballpark and will only match other figures in scale with this manufacturer. Next.

This is not a Batman killer for McFarlane at al. You are comparing apples to oranges. This is a deluxe action figure that is different in scope and scale and price. Todd makes figures that are more affordable in price and still makes a good figure, so this is not a fair comparison.
Mcfarlane are the cheapest of the 7 inch scale. They are the best for their price
