i’m literally watching this at 13 years old because i’m panicking about knowing what i want to do in the future. but oxford looks really beautiful so i wanted to know more about it and i want to travel for my job but most traveling jobs don’t catch my attention

1. Harvard (have been thinking about this for a while now)
2. Yale (I have also been thinking about this for a while now)
3. Oxford University!!!
4. Cambridge University
5. UCLA (I recently got into this because I want to be a veterinarian and from my research I’ve heard they have one of the best Veterinary Medicine schools)
I have a few others as well, but those are just the main ones
Yes I'm 13 too and it really is very nice oxford and there are careers that interest me but I am Latin American, which makes it a bit difficult for me to study at a university like this :(

Just bc they go to a university that you want to go to but can’t doesn’t mean they’re “ lucky “ but that’s my opinion
Top tier universities aren't that much better than any other university. People whom follow the trail of "it's prestige status" are delusional, because it's the skills that matter and execution of an idea, not that much of an education. There are so many examples of people without even uni degree being far more successful than those with doctorate or any other high tier degree. If you can't count and think logically out of the box then none of the "prestigious" (more like prestigious scam) certifications will help you in life.
Where you come from doesn't matter, what can you accomplish matters and networking, lots of networking. If employers value place of acquired education then they're shooting themselves in the foot for skipping so much talent.
This motivates me to study for my mocks!

Hi Eve, or anyone else watching that can help me! I do Spanish at A-Level and I want to do it at uni, but I want to get some work experience/go to a summer school. Does anyone have any advice/recommendations?
Isabelle Winter UNIQ is Oxfords own summer school that is FULLY FUNDED and I know the application time is around now. I went last year and just got into oxford
Nah, the UNIQ application has closed now
that’s a pity it’s already closed. There’s still the Sutton trust summer schools and many others for different unis. I know Nottingham runs one and other Russell groups too. You also don’t have to do work experience at a summer school. Call up/email a uni close to you and ask if you can shadow some of their post grads or something like that. Take initiative. I emailed the head researcher at the university of Manchester for biology and a few months later got to spend a week with their post grads in their labs. Don’t be afraid to just ask people for help, they may well say no but at least you tried. I know for languages the experience might be different, but there’s no harm emailing Spanish professors at a uni, or writing a review of Books of different languages for a local paper or going to cultural events in your city etc. There’s always something you can do, I might just mean having to look a bit harder

Moll Flower I never used to cycle for my first 2 years and it was fine (although ever since getting a bike it did change my life lol)

Elizabeth Dengate just work for your GCSEs! Really start joining access programmes summer schools etc and supra curricular programmes in 12-13, but honestly a lot of people here don’t even think about Oxford in year 11! Just do as well as you possibly can ❤️ good luck!

Elizabeth Dengate honestly I agree with Bry Toon. I know people who started “preparing” in Yr7 and got rejected and I decided I week before the deadline and got in. Don’t set your heart on oxford set your heart on your subject and THATS what gets you in
