In this 3D platforming adventure, you’ll explore the bright and colorful world of Macaroon, and help Penny and Yo-Yo escape the clutches of the grouchy Emperor Eddie. Perform stylish, acrobatic tricks to avoid Eddie’s massive horde of pushy penguins in Story Mode. Power up Yo-Yo to protect Penny and put your speed running skills to the test in Time Attack Mode to unlock special items and complete secret stages.

@@ilovetron90 _Sonic Superstars_ is developed by Arzest (Yoshi's New Island, Balan Wonderworld). None of the Sonic Mania developers are involved.
@@graemevaughey7432nah apparently Christian Whitehead helped out on the physics of Sonic Superstars a bit along with Sonic Team to make it accurate to the original trilogy and Mania

Penny is SO expressive! I love the attention to detail on her spins and how she turns her head to not get dizzy. Cannot wait to play this game!

@@yetanotherhankhill1032 The problem is that Sonic is hard to translate well in 3d. Remember how Sonic Unleashed has the frame-rate cut in half, or 3d Sonic games having reduced framerate on Switch???
@@orangeslash1667well the later is due to underpowered hardware. And Unleashed is just poorly optimised. That doesnt actually say anything about how well sonic translated to 3d.
This looks like a Treasure game only new. The inspiration is totally there.

The character and art design are odd but kind of interesting. The protagonist has an old timey looking hairdo and hat, wonder what’s up with that.
You should check out an upcoming indie game called Double Shake. Totally Mischief Makers inspired.
This is Christian Whitehead's 3D platformer. He and his team have been teasing this for years now, and I was NOT expecting them to show it here!

The protagonist's midair yo-yo swing move has got to be one of the coolest, most joyful looking double jumps I've seen in ages! Super excited for this one.
It's really cool to see a double jump which doesn't boil down to jump-but-in-the-air.
Kinda hooked me on this game.

Man's come a long way since the early 2010s... he was just composing Sonic remixes and for obscure games nobody cared about, now he's risen to be up there as one of the top modern video game composers of all time thanks to what he cooked for Mania!

Any time a character uses a yo-yo as a main weapon/tool I’m hooked. This looks *insanely* fun.

If you were ever wondering why Sonic Mania 2 never happened, this is it. Those same folks started development on Penny's Big Breakaway. I didn't even know it was a thing until I saw JebTube's Sonic Fantears video, but I'm really glad I didn't have to wait long for its reveal.
And honestly, this is the most exciting new announcement from the entire direct for me. Even more so than Super Mario Bros Wonder. 3D platformers are my favourite, and this looks to have that creative spark and energy I've been missing from the early 2000's.

Too bad nobdoy will ever revisit that game or a similar game mechanic"... but that's exactly what this seems to be!! That makes me genuinely so happy. It feels like a weird spiritual successor. Thanks, Evening Star! I'm actually excited for this.

It's weird I straight up thought this was some free to play party game at first and when I realised it wasn't, my face had the same expression as Penny from Penny's Big Breakaway

Super excited about this game. Looks like this is a huge love letter to Treasure. The visuals are very reminiscent of dynamite headdy, the main character design and mechanics also scream treasure in general.
Easily a shining star out of the whole Mario-Palooza of the new Direct.

You can literally get softlocked in A Hat in Time also Mario Odyssey has the crazier jump combos
