  • Real life after the tourists have gone on the Greek island of Corfu. This is the first of a series showing what it’s like living on a holiday island once the holidays have finished.
Join me to see the ups and downs of a traditional island!

Very interesting I lived there in the 80s for a year and it never seemed so quiet in the winter. Going again in May and again in October

I did all that on a bicycle in a 1970 north and south of the island. I would never go back. Totally spoilt. 😢

Thank you so much for this video. Wish I had found it before I booked my one-month stay in Corfu town in the winter ;) Doh! I was at Paleokastritsa yesterday (February 9, 2023) and NOT A SINGLE place/restaurant/cafe was open. I was quite shocked. Hoping Kassiopi will be different!

Not much open in Kassiopi I’m afraid! Jasmine bar is open, and The Square grill too. Both heartily recommended, but not a lot open!
Acharavi is much better, a few bars and restaurants open now. Still very quiet though.

That is normal to all resorts it's only season work summer is busy 5 to 6 months if lucky winter's are harsh and not enjoyable for tourists

I have watched your videos with fascination. I have a villa in Kavadades which has a bio digester. We want to utilise the treated water on the garden, at the moment it goes down the side of the road. Not ideal! Do you know of anyone that could help us with this? Especially if equipment could be installed... general advice.

I do computer science and when I'll be done, I was thinking of going 6 month (around winter season) with what they call digital nomad visa. I live in Canada so for me what people call cold in greece in hot. Ill watch what you do. I would be very intetested in the real way island life is suppose to be, not that party beach in high season. Its also cheaper.

When did you move? Was it an easy process? Probably before brexit?

Hi Amber, we moved in august of 2020, so it was after Brexit. However, we did already have Greek residency before Brexit, so that's how we were able to do it. No, it was not an easy process, and I never want to do it again! But i don't regret it, and it's a wonderful place to live and bring up our kids.

@@amberd2109 join the Brits in Greece Facebook group - since Brexit it’s become cumbersome and onerous, not to mention expensive to move to a euro country. It’s not impossible, but you need to jump through lots of hoops and deal with the Greek embassy in London. Who don’t answer their phone or emails.

Had some friends there who've tried it but moved back to uk, they said it's really changed to how it used to be a few years ago & it's totally different living there to holidaying, lots of red tape & hard work

@@JacquelinePratt-h9l are you from the U.K.? If so, it is VERY difficult post-Brexit. Can I point you to a Facebook group called British in Greece? They have lots of files and FAQs about just this, but in a nutshell it is almost impossible for a Brit to work here, bar a few very specific exceptions.
