The RaspberryPi stores the GPS readings all the time. When connected to the internet it can be viewed. It only reads the GPS data once a minute, so does not give you very detailed track logs.

    thx for another great video.
I hope you will find solution for data logging in vrm while not in LTE range. As I checked, data from bmv712 and mmpt are stored on devices, checked this via remote console, but data is not uploaded when you get internet back. :(

Found solution for missing data logs while out of LTE range. Just connect usb pendrive to one of the ports, and data will be uploaded to vrm

No way - I read about it but wasn't convinced ... I have to try it

If you didn't have the GPS and went camping, wouldn't the RPI cache the data until it had a n internet connection again? If so, how many days worth of data could be cached?

It did not work for me. Still figuring that more out but it looked like there is either nothing or very limited data stored unfortunately.

Good job Tobi. The very first video I watched on Venus os on a Pi was the ‘off grid garage’ he talked about how it would store data if it ever went of line. I know you can alter the sync times but I’ve never been successful with uploading data after a period of offline. So I added one of those little hotspots like yours tobi but it would just randomly drop out, sometimes it would run for a week or more then other times only a day or two. I’ve since upgraded to a rv-wifi system which my pi is hard wired. No more drop outs. Have just installed the GPS following your last video, keen to see how it works. Keep up the amazing work Tobi

@@damionrussell8093 Greta to hear! I'm still try to figure out if we can store data on the RPI for offline moments.... Not sure when I will find a solution though ;-)

Thanks again Tobi - good update. I can add my experience of losing the internet connection because I found out by accident last week that my RPi4 does upload readings taken whilst offline, but I've not tried more than about 8 hours at a time. Our son came to stay on our boat with us and he turned off the router overnight as the lights were too bright for him to get to sleep - fair point! I thought that I wouldn't have any readings for that period, but they magically uploaded once the RPi was back online. I am only logging an MPPT and an Inverter so there's not a lot of data to be saved. It might be a different story with a gazillion GPS waypoints. Hope that helps.
