    Youthman...once again you hit with a video with the right people and awesome home theater tech. Derek's setup is AWESOME!! I have a relatively small dedicated home theater and I live in NJ 20 miles from NYC. For me...I followed the concept with the laser STP from Hisense, but man it is awesome and seeing you review a Short throw...I think a second time...that I know of...again you do some really great work...keep it up...Again Derek, AWESOME SETUP!

    • @stanleygarrett769
      @stanleygarrett769 Před 3 lety

      Oh and I chose STP over Overhead because I didn't want to renovate further in the house my house and convenience with the exception of putting that free screen together, I'm gonna eventually build a cabinet for the remote controlled ALR STP screen with the reinforced backing. I have a full 9.2 setup and am considering upgrading my front DefTech Towers...again great work you are an inspiration to us all.

    This review was brought to you by Under Armour. Glad to see derrick back, nice review. If that's derricks set up I would just like to mention that the unit has a uninterrupted power supply. Ive heard if the power goes out with that unit on the heat will cause a lot of damage and not limited to the bulb exploding. Ive never had a projector, and I am not certain if that's totally accurate. However, for a 2000 dollar device a 150 dollar UPS isn't breaking the bank

    I have this projector combined with a Vividstorm ALR floor rising screen. Curious as to what the calibrated settings were for dark room viewing (understanding that YMMV). At a minimum would be great to know which default color setting (ie Cinema, Natural, etc) was used for the final calibrated setting?

    • @hobbyav7922
      @hobbyav7922 Před 2 lety +1

      For HD SDR Rec 709 content the Natural picture mode is the closest for accuracy, i would also adjust the color temperature from default 7 to 8 and switch off Dymamic contrast and Noise reduction. Also adjust Detail enhancement all the way down to it's lowest setting to 0, sharpness setting leave on default 5. Brightness at 54 and Contrast at 43. Don't adjust the color and tint settings from their default of 50, as to set that accurate you need a Blue only mode and the EH-LS300 doesn't have that setting. Using a color filter to set the color setting isn't an accurate way to set color. Adjust the Light output setting to what you want depending on dark or bright your room is, at 80% it's very bright so if your watching in a dark room you will probably find 50/60% is enough.

    Epson's projectors tend to quiet down when you dial down the power of the laser. That does lower brightness, but might not be a bad tradeoff for movie watching in a dark room.

  • @noneofyourbusiness5134

      Optical output on the ls300 only does 2.0 pcm as stated in the manual so you will never get 5.1 sound from the Optical output. You have to use the Passthrough HDMI 2 Arc socket to get 5.1 sound from the ls300 and only when you have an external device plugged into the HDMI 1 socket as the apps on the ls300 only output 2.0 pcm. In any case, HD, 4K etc means absolutely nothing. Zilch, nada. It’s mostly marketing gimmick. Ok, let me rephrase that: it means a lot IF YOU KNOW WHAT IT MEANS. The main ingredient is distance. That’s all. It’s same thing for image sharpness and megapixels in a camera. Means nothing on its own. It gets meaning in relation to viewing distance.
      So 4K being better than HD or whether necessary or not is a non-question. What’s the setup? What’s the viewing distance? That’s the first question to ask. The other follows.
