August 27, 2023: Elly De La Cruz completes the relay to home to get the runner out. Connect with the Reds! / reds / reds / reds / reds www.giphy.com/reds
We're all glued to the games because of the potential of witnessing greatness. But any given night it could be a play he makes that no one has ever seen. Running, fielding, hitting. But also the joy on his face. He's bold and fearless. 21 years old. This is only the beginning.
De La Cruz and Carroll - two of the up and coming superstars of the game. As a Dbacks fan was glad to see them take that chance, as a baseball fan, damn what a throw!!
@@davesherman9755 What the fuck is it with people and their god damned reading comprehension? Did I say baseball players? I said *people*. Like, regular fucking people. Of course I'm not talking about baseball players. Jesus.
I know when I made throws up the line the guy was safe at home but I also didn't throw 100mph more like 90 so that makes a bit of a difference. That ball was tailing like crazy. Great throw 👏
You know what? The throw by Elly was insane, absolutely. Definitely highlight worthy. But for just a second, can we talk about the fact that off of a soft carom in which the CF gathered rather quickly, is it not insane that Corbin almost scored? Holy shit, that kid has WHEELS. I did not expect him to have already rounded 2nd by the time the CF picked the ball up. Damn that kid’s fast.
El mejor de todo los tiempo Ely de la Cruz ahi se acabó la competencia para no exagerar el mejor Latino de todos los tiempos Ely de la Cruz Que Dios lo continue bendiciendo y ayudando a llegar mas lejos.
At the end of his game on Sunday 27 August 2023, these are is numbers, so far, in the 2023 season 286 at bats 70 Hits 33 RBIs 11 HR 22 stolen bases 6 caught stealing 22 walks 3 intentional walks 107 strikeouts Batting average .245 On Base Percentage .300
I skipped 10 seconds and missed the whole play that’s how insane both sides of this highlight are… the future of baseball is looking brighter than ever
Great play. Carroll was rounding third base around the time Cruz was making his turn to throw. A baseball is always faster than a runner. You’d have to think about holding Carroll but he’s so fast as well.
He would've scored on most players but they forgot. That throw is like 10 to 20% faster than normal with solid accuracy. But with two outs it's a good send.
@@user-cz7bu5qk8w great observation. Considering the throw was no less than 155 feet (how far it is from home to the edge of the dirt through second base) that 10 to 20% difference in speed equates to at least 3 -4 feet not covered by the runner. Maybe more considering the speed of the base runner in this instance.
Absolutely LOVED the moment Cruz released the throw, he was jogging towards the dugout knowing full well Carroll was already out BEFORE the throw reached home!
That throw was actually better when you see it rather than just hear it. The catcher naturally believed the ball would come to home plate so that's where he stood. Elle has a bazooka. He threw the ball not to home plate but to where the runner would be, which meant the catcher had to move off home plate and toward the runner. So the ball, the runner, and the catcher met at the same spot, a full 10 feet before home plate. That's what you can do when you have a 100mph arm.
even more impressive is how hard he threw it with some mad tailing action going on. imagine how hard it would have been if it was straight and not tailing!
That was a perfect throw. The rookie is showing every sign of blossoming into a five tool HOFer. The Reds would be smart to lock him into a long term deal. Sure, it will cost, but it will be cheaper than what he will command as a true free agent.
and the fact that it took Carroll only 14 secs to run all 4 bases... those 2 are incredible.
Who cares about Carroll? Elly gunned down his bitch ass 😂
I hope he continue to be as he is now, happy and playful while being responsible for his team and fans...
He's the type that could be the face of the MLB in a few years time if he keeps doing what he's doing.

@@Snivac89Once he learns how to bat and play defense he can be the face of the mlb
Even when he's not hitting, De La Cruz can still wow you in so many different ways. This was just the latest.

Tony P fucked us on that one I was at the game lol shoulda thrown up the stop sign
And 2 of the rising nl tramd
Bro that ball even had movement towards the runner, incredible. Props to Carroll too, showed some serious wheels there, the throw was just perfect.
Yeah. He was within a few feet of scoring an inside the park homer. Obviously, they happen but they are pretty rare now. It was good play all round.
Dude threw a 100mph hour strike from the outfield. Unbelievable
Strike ??? Your strike zone is questionable to say the least. 😂
That was hardly the outfield...
Credit to the outfielder for a good throw to him.
@@mikethevike2539strike, as in a blast to where it was specifically supposed to go. Your trolling attempt is questionable to say the least.

Not a Reds fan but Elly is my 2nd favorite baseball player in all of MLB.
Well then who is your favorite?
Ohtani obviously

He is just insane. So much fun to watch! Corbin Carroll is an amazing player too, so fast.
The composure he had to make that throw is insane. Hats off to the CF for hitting his cut off man.
It's hard to tell how fast that was from the camera angle. Only the tiniest percentage of people wouldn't piss themselves trying to catch that.

That was lighting beam. Dude is so entertaining
Elly is not human.
Hes overrated 98 OPS + is bad
The dude is absolutely stunning, Amazing, brilliant all you could ask for. Hopefully this red's team continues to bloom and prosper.
I was at this game today and that throw was seriously epic!
Every time I've seen Elly make one of those relay throws, it's always a strike. This kid is fun to watch.
I like how the catcher gave him a “come on” wave. Dude knew his boy has a cannon.
❤ el dominicano que tiene toda la atención muy duro 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🐾
Dude is a BEAST,
at striking out.
Bro this rookie is the best person i have ever seen in my whole life
Carrol wayyy better
Elly has a 98 OPS+ hes very overrated
@@user-be9pm4tj3c He hasn't even reached his peak yet, nowhere near. His average or OBP needs to go up, but everything else is elite-level.
@@MystiqWisdom Stats say he's a below average hitter. Carrol is way better right now. Ohtani had a 151 OPS+ in his rookie season.
Dudes is terrible hitter lol
win this game GO REDS!
Let's go elly
What an incredible talent this guy is. A frozen rope right into the glove of the catcher.
Great relay throw. Not just the speed but the accuracy makes that play.
Dodgers fan but Ellys becoming a fav player for sure
Wow Insane ! Highlight Kid ! We can clearly see the effect in the ball cutting straight towards the glove of Stephenson

Insanely exciting! Speed is just SO MUCH better than trying to jack the ball out of the park!
He's already done an out off the ball park against the Brewers.

Great vid. Thanks, boys.
Friedl not giving up on that play and hitting the cutoff! So many good fundamentals in the one play on both sides of the ball!
That was awesome
Holy shit that was a MISSILE 🚀
He threw an incredible curve ball to home plate!
Hahaha the guy running home didn't even know what happened, sick throw.
Best part is Elly starts trotting off the field as the ball is about to reach the glove hahaha he knew he had it.
My boy started jogging to the dugout before anybody else. Dope! 0:45
insane power move by corbin for going for it. they advertised this series a lot for the speed between corbin and de la cruz have. awesome play
