First of all I adore your voice and way of explaining things... your accent reminds me of my late aunt who was an upstate NYer and I miss that! This is absolutely gorgeous and I can't thank you enough for everything you share with us

If am going to spray dragees or sugar pearl on the luster dust cake how will I spray it? What will I use to make them stick to a luster dust cake ?

Can you mix the alcohol and luster dust then use an airbrush machine to apply it on the cake instead of painting it?

I guess in order to start painting on that buttercream, you'd have to let the buttercream crust first,so it is easier to paint on it

How long does it take for it to dry after you paint it on?

    • @cakeheads

Just a couple of minutes, Lynn! That's the beauty of using alcohol...it evaporates quickly and leaves the paint behind. :)

Hi, if you have a customer who doesn’t want any alcohol used in the decorating process what is your top choice to accomplish the best results?

I use clear extracts for those that dont want alcohol. Not sure what she uses just thought I would throw my 2c in. 😁

@@harmonymccarter but extracts usually contain alcohol as well so make sure to check the ingredients if your customer wants zero alcohol involved.

I would brush or dab a very light coat of shortening on to attach the sanding sugar instead of the alcohol in that case, Tanya! As far as creating the paint, you could experiment on a scrap piece of fondant mixing the luster with water and painting it on... it will take much longer to dry and you may not be able to touch the tier (to stack it) for a long time so you'll want to see how long it takes. Another alternative would be to add shortening to the tier and then dry dust the luster over top of it though you won't want to touch that tier either for a while.
