I have ordered a Nord A1 as my first synthezeiser. Now I am convinced I made the right decision
And how is going? Got his older brother, the NL2X 2 years ago as my first synth, and purchased a couple more after that one, but the old NL is the only keeper so far!
I know, I'm 7 years too late, but this is a huge demo, and I want an A1... even if it's 2022!🙂

Fantastic demo! Finally someone who's playing the damn beast and playing damn good! Showing what the synth is capable off, instead of some random knob turning and producing meaningless noise.

Just bought an A1 (mostly) because of this video! I have had a Lead 3 since 2005 and love it, particularly for blending FM sparkle onto big stabby Supersaws... but this A1 sounds even better! .

I know a lot of people have bashed the A1 for being overpriced/under-featured or whatever...but man, this thing sounds incredible imo. Some of my favorite sounds I've heard from a modern synth, analog or digital.

Man, Totally agree with Sacred Synthesis! This is mind blowing! One the best demos I'd ever seen on youtube, I meant. This reminds me some synth jorneys from early 80's movies (played on original ones) and yet some new great dance sounds.
That's really let us thinking about ordering one of theses...

I wasn't a big fan of the nord range after owning a nord lead 2x for a while years ago, but these newer nord leads sound MUCH more warmer and enticing out of the box. Lovely stuff.
I have no idea how this one sounds better than my 2X.

Great demo - love the sounds of the A1. I have a Nord Lead 3, it couldn't possibly make these sounds, yet I can only wish that Nord will one day replicate the NL3's user interface. The A1 and NL4 don't even have an LCD to display the patch name! :(

L'Apocalypse des Animaux! What a beautiful melody (La petite fille de la mer maybe?). Excellent demo, I still prefer my Prophet 12 to the Nord Leads, it has that "crazy bastard" attitude of unpredictability that makes it a keeper. But this A1 sounds great.
i was thinking of a ghia or a nova...but hearing this ,i think i will save a little longer and get this. sounds great!!!!

Hi, yes the A1 is a keeper :) . The sound still amazes me every time I use it. In this video, 2 or 3 patches are my own. The other sounds are (tweaked) programs from the Nord sound banks.
This is amazing! You made me want to buy this piece of tech (even though the price is still a bit high for a student like myself). I was just wondering... did you use some processing on the way through? Like compression, limiting, eq or is this the pure sound coming out of Nord? Thank you

Picked up a Nord Stage 3, so I'll fully agree the A1 sound quality is quite nice, but I'm a little perplexed why both the envelopes couldn't have a sustain stage. There are work-arounds, but for a synth in this price range, it really doesn't make sense. Almost every synth I own (down in the $200-$300 range) have sustain stages for both envelopes.
BUT, I do love the sound, and the keyboard (the Stage 3) is a total pleasure to play, so I'll live I guess. Lastly, great performance and selection of tunes to highlight the sound.

its a really nice synth, but if you want to access all styles i recommend the virus c/TI therefor its more versatile

A tip would be to have all the songs you play in the information with their time so if you click the time you jump straight to it and then people don't have to ask for every little tune you play. For instance 8:22 and so on, =)

This is one amazing sounding synth. I went to one music store to try out Moog Sub Phatty. To cut the story short, I was not amazed by it. Then I saw A1 there and tried it, too. The sound blew me away. Very smooth, warm, balanced, great across the keyboard range. The filters are a vast improvement over the 2X I used to have and the whole thing feels really good. The only gripe I have is the lack of a dedicated envelope sustain knob. That IS a pain in the a**. Why this decision? I just don't get it.
It's keeping me from buying it, really. But I might look past this eventually.
+ALPHAVOYAGER I agree. No Sustain knob. Bummer. I think that they want us to rely on the Delay instead. I believe that the ADSR is on the Lead 4, but I like the filters on the Lead A1 more than the Lead 4.

Thanks for your knowledge. I've looked into synths more. I did not know that you have to create all the sounds yourself. I had no idea. I can't do that. Neither can most people. You make the nord lead and waldorf sound amazing. You have a lot of skill with that. Over the last two days I have watched many half hour long videos on the nord lead synths and I have to say, nobody made one single decent sound out of it in a half hour. Now I actually thing the Nords suck. You could probably make anything sound great. Good job.
Hi, you can create your own sounds, but you don’t have to :) . The Nord comes with a lot of good presets (and there are more sounds to download on the Nord website). It’s very easy to tweak the sounds with all the controller knobs on the front panel.
oh . cool. I thought you had to make them all from scratch which would seem very hard I would imagine. I always loved the look of the Nords. I think I will get the A 1 if you think it's worth it.
Most people who buy a synth with lots of knobs on it, will quickly be able to create custom sounds.
Rachel Hilgert when you get used to it, making synth patch is really a joy to do. Learn how to do it, its not witchcraft, simply knowledge about sound synthesis. When you get into the wavetable based synthesiser, like with the new serum by xfer ( steve duda ), you will go down the rabbit hole. Synthesis is purely awesome.
Rachel Hilgert Also don't forget that this amazing synth have a mutate button to create new sounds out of excisting patches with the push of a button called"mutate sound" and then you can "like" up to 50 versions with the "like" button that you can store later. It's really cool actually so yeah it would be a good choice for beginners also in that regard.

Really interesting sounds. I didn't understand if it can use also sampled waveforms as source. For example, the Sledge from Studiologic can load and use them and there is a library available. For Nord Lead there are sound libraries available (pathces)? Thanks for the possible clarification...
+AFmultimedia Hi, the A1 doesn't support user sample import. It is possible with the (discontinued) Nord Wave.
