I love this man!! What ever he plays cut me deep!
I'm 18 and a neurology major in college and I'm going to specialize in possible motor neuron regeneration using stem cells. Altitudes is my all time favorite song, and I'm using it as inspiration to push myself to try to treat ALS and epilepsy. When I first heard altitudes, I was blown away. When I found out Jason was fully paralyzed from ALS, I nearly cried. I was so angry that a simple circuitry issue in the body rendered this mans gift useless and I wanted to do everything in my power to fix it. I will try Jason. I really will. I want to fix you. It might not be right now, but I want to make you play again.
You give hope to the world. Thanks.
Power on, ma brutha!

Grab a shred friend who hasn't yet heard this (blasphemy I know) and play this for them with the audible only and ask them to nod their head when they hear Marty Friedman. Call it a hunch, but my guess is they'll nail it after the first bend. That's how identifiable the shred samurai is. What a master of the fretboard.
And also his vibrato technique is like very few other guitarists, although I figured it out. Its very similar to a violin vibrato the way Marty rocks the strings back and forth on the fretboard but with a lot of power in his hands as well for the speed of it
Having Marco Sfogli in this masterpiece would have made it to the limit of musical genius that my mind can handle.

Thank you so much for everything Jason and all contributed to this wonderful album. When I was in college for the first time I was introduced to his artwork when I was in Turkey, he inspired me and affected my musical understanding in so many levels. When I heard he has ALS disease I was extremely upset and thought how such unfortunate thing can happen to a musical virtuoso like him...years passed I am in Usa now and when a friend tweeted Jason has a new album I thought he recovered somehow or it is the old news...immediately double checked to find out it was today’s date. I listened Valley of Fire immediately at youtube in tears of joy and happiness. Looks like he has done all this work with the help of other virtuoso friends. He lost his ability to walk move and even breathing, and His i think father developed a device to use his eyes to communicate with others, compose music and organize everything. When he was diagnosed with ALS doctors told them he has maybe only 5 years of life left, and this was 29 years ago according to the article, so that means with the help of music he never gave up no matter what doctors said. I have so much respect for you Jason. God bless you and hope you continue your amazing work. I love you brother, thank you so much!
This is really a masterpiece.

JASON IS A LIGHT IN THIS WORLD. 🙏
I'm honored that Jason was too humble to send Steve (Vai) the first 4 demos for this album; he didn't want to be presumptuous, and with his permission I emailed them to our beloved friend. A perfect circle: Steve got me in touch with Jason when I became completely disabled with incurable spinal diseases-- and Jason (aka "Gabby") has saved me more times than I can count. Literally. With his sense of humor, his humanity, and of course, his of music, which I had known since Cacophony. He (and Serrana) have gotten me through impossible days with my spinal diseases. May everyone everywhere, let every note Jason has written (and his indelible guitar playing is on this album! )...seep into every cell of their bodies: Jason's music is life. Rejuvenation. Jason is the funniest man I know. His music is prodigious. His love of life unsurpassed.
When I first heard this finished piece I thought, well there you go, Jason... there's not ONE PLAYER amongst these 13 who haven't been inspired by your genius prodigious playing, bro.
To me, this piece fully represents in music your insatiable love of life, music, and will power... plus the theme is powerful and moves forward. A genius way to end the album; no end. An eternal string of compositions flowing through you... there will be more, always.
I know this is long... but there's a reason Jason's still here; there's a reason he figured out a way to get the music in his head into the computer and recorded and produced to his standards: he's kicking ass with his timeless compositions, to be sure, but more than that-- he's showing us the power we all have within. I KNOW this to be fact. I couldn't make it another day in the hospital 2 years ago and he sent me four computer demos from this album and I'm telling you: his music is life. The lyrics to HOLD ON, which my mom read to me as I was clinging to the bed, praying for strength that was diminished within: those lyrics made me cry tears of surrender and then joy.
This piece... Jason... this piece is YOUR guitar playing on fire, YOUR trademark style incorporated into all of their 13 unique styles!
I LOVE YOU, GABBY.
THANK YOU FOR BEING A TRUE BROTHER AND SPIRITUAL WARRIOR.
YOU AND YOUR MUSIC ARE A LIGHT IN THIS WORLD, A LIGHT WE DESPERATELY NEED. A LIGHT THAT WILL BURN FOREVER.
If Jason's music has touched your life and changed your life the way it's changed mine, please write him a letter on FB or to his PO Box and let him know. Thank you.
I love ya, Gabs.

Damn. And Thank you!
You earned 9 mins of life
They are all awesome, really the Magnificent 13, but Paul Gilbert and Marty Friedman really nailed the essence of a "Valley of Fire", they somehow captured the core idea of the song, and Mattias Ecklund and Jeff Loomis matched the rythmics, the feeling and the essence of an old spanish guitar combined with the new styles of rock/metal guitar, what a beautiful combination.
