Gotta say for a 2600 game this is pretty impressive
Hey Phil, just wanted to say thanks for your excellent channel. I appreciate a few things that you do quite well:
1) Family friendly content
2) You give concise but detailed descriptions of games
3) You have a sense of humour!
4) The audio balancing is excellent - we can hear the game but it never gets louder than your voice
5) You cover quite a diverse range of games

Atari 2600 Battlezone was definitely one of the best games to me. Loved it when it came out !

I beat my high score on game 3 today, so it's currently 62,000. What are your best scores for game 3?
Lately this is my favorite 2600 game to play, which would put it at the top of my list. Although Robot Tank had favorable reviews when it came out, I don't find it as appealing. I really like Jr. Pac Man and Pole Position for the 2600, but one game that I think is really good but overlooked is Boing.
Battlezone is a good un'. Nice review. Robot Tank was always a wee bit better to me though, it just had some neat added features.
We shall see how it compares at some point in the future!
While I always preferred Battle Zone over Robot Tank, the only complaint i have (as with the Arcade version) is that it gets unplayably hard too fast starting roughly around the moment when the super tanks appear, so that playtime is limited to a very short length. I can't think of another game that gets this hard that fast.
@@frankschneider6156 Currently, 29/261 games reviewed. Robot Tank is 28th. It does get pretty hard on game 3 with the super tanks and aircraft. But other Atari games get so hard I can't seem to master them to get any further, even if the playtime is longer before that happens.
I did beat my high score today on game 3, so it's 62000. I do miss the vector pyramids that tanks can hide behind in the arcade version; you're very exposed just moving around and backing up trying to dodge shots, and there's not the challenge of maneuvering to hit tanks hiding behind the obstacle.
Love the game, and the graphics are cool for the 2600...love them...but better than a vector monitor/vector graphics of the arcade? .......Sorry, but respectfully.... not by a long shot! Cool review though, thanks:)
no way, I had that game and is pretty boring . I would place it in the # 99.
Wow! That's pretty low considering I haven't even got to 99 games yet ;)
