Mr Room my aunt has one, her auto stop/start does not work properly, the computer glitches to the point where her turn signals won’t come on? Transmission shifts are horrible. It’s just a cheaply built car. Please read reviews on these on Jeep Compass forums, FCA is a company that does not care about quality. Please buy a Toyota if you can

That transmission seems like a hazard. It's reluctance to down shift and the way it bogs down makes me think it won't respond quickly enough in merging or situations where I need acceleration.

The transmission shifts so slow
I recently test-drove a second-hand Jeep Renegade with a similar setup to this particular car (2.4 T.Shark/9AT), and I didn't care for it so much. It was already bad enough I was considering moving from a FIAT 500 up to this. IMO, if I were to recommend a Compass OR a Renegade, I'd recommend whatever models and powertrains Jeep offers a manual transmission with, even if the person asking would miss out on certain features, which considering what they are, won't be much.
krwilliams3876 does it really matter you can get the new turbo 4 in the renegade and Fiat 500x and I’m thinking that it will be in the Compass soon but the 2.0t Hurricane motor that’s in the Jeep Cherokee and Alfa Romeo Gulia and Stelvio is my favorite 4 cylinder from FCA

Shellyman Studios the 9 speed needs to be replaced. ZF knows they did a horrible job and it really makes this peppy engine lethargic and sedated. It should be brought down to the 8 speed since that transmission is renowned

El Gran Freezer it’s a compact SUV, doesn’t need a 6 cylinder. Would step on the Cherokee’s toes in terms of engine choices.
What it could use is a well-made turbocharged engine that's above the 2.4L Tigershark, ideally without stepping too much into Cherokee territory. The Renegade and Compass both (same underlying platform and drivetrains) would benefit from another 20 HP and 20-30 LB-FT of torque given their rather excessive weight for the size.
The renegade now offers a 1.3 liter turbocharged 4 cylinder
