  • Connect with nature by making friends with trees. It's easier than you think! In this video we'll hang out with one of my own personal tree friends and talk about what's involved in cultivating more meaningful relationships with natural life in the forest.
    * What does it mean to be "friends" with a tree?
    * What are some benefits of connecting with trees in this way?
    * How making friends with trees is similar to making friends with people.
    * What steps can you follow to cultivate these relationships?
    * Stories & examples from my own personal experience.

Thank you for sharing this. It inspires me to go out and create a friendship with a tree like I remember having as a child. I think that this may be what I am missing right now. Again, thank you. I love your videos.

On knowing. The American language is rough on communication, even the kings English. when I took German there are 2 words for toknow (as I recall). Kennen und Weisen. Kennen you know the name of something. Weisen (as in wise) you know everything about the named object. For tree you would know the physiology, anatomy, habitat, relationship to ecology, what the wood is good for, how to use the acorns.. etc. etc. ie. more than just kennen. Since the world is infinite, there is a lot of fun stuff to know.

I've been fortunate to have trees on our property. I've always made sure they are protected and they take care of me. It was an unspoken bond.

@@NatureMentor Update, I had the kids go out and each adopt a tree in the yard.... name it, and be its caretaker. They loved the assignment!💡. Thank you for the idea.

Thank you for some great ideas. I will try them out with my 4th grade class. I have been trying to teach them to connect with trees by reading books such as Luna and Me by Jenny Sue Kostecki-Shaw but taking tea to the forest and making friends with a single tree is such a good idea :-)

Yes! Having them focus on an individual tree will make a big difference because it allows the experience to soak in more deeply and builds that connective familiarity over time 😃
