Bassan: Tribute to Satigui Foukatie Sidibe by Alex Wielemans

Satigui "Foukatie" Sidibe was part of the second generation of ngoni players in Wassolon. He used to be one of the famous singer of his generation. I had the chance to record him in 2016 as part of my studies. I couldn't find anyone in Yanfolila that was able to play Bassan, one of my favourite rhythms (I even made a workshop about it), so my master, Issa Sidibe, asked Satigui to come from the village to record the song for me. He passed away 3 months ago, I got the info 3 days ago, so I decided to upload this recording as a tribute to his memory.
