It was honestly so nice meeting u that day man ur doing a brill job and ur vids are class aswell man 👍👍
Was class meeting you mate! I’ve had people come up to me at Conventions but seeing you and that other in the space of a few minutes was crazy! Thanks for the kind words plenty more videos to come hopefully can keep making them even better!
Its the sad reality of charity shops in Dublin today, next to no video games whatsoever. I've been in Dublin for two years keeping my eye on charity shops and I've never had an exciting find, at least when it comes to games. Hope you enjoyed it all the same, and maybe somebody will strike some gold on a random visit!
Hopefully they do! It really is getting harder to find anything worth shouting about. The odd find still pops up thank god. But might be time to start thinking outside the box and try go about building the collection in a different type of way 👀
I guess it's all online now, ebay and adverts.
Cool lil city guide Adam. Has got me eager to visit Dublin again as has been a few years.
Seems like a more concentrated set of charity shops than in London. Quite a lot of vhs which is cool.
Loved the look of the final place; albeit slightly mini they were certainly carrying some retro!
Hope life is treating you well mate. Cheers!👍😊🕹️
Cheers Ed hope all is good with you! Hopefully you make it over soon there’s a few pints waiting here for you when you do anyway!! Did enjoy the last stop and would love to have filmed more just a bit of a dark tight space but well worth a visit if you’re in the neighbourhood!
You nearly have to lie on the ground in The Rage to look through it all, although not too long ago they didn't have a shelf and it was all stacked on top of each other in towers of games. The selection is good, you just have to look through it all to find clean copies and the staff there are sound.
I’ll 100% go in another day just for a browse around raging I didn’t go back to those magazines been enjoying picking a few up lately. Will bop in again another day for a proper root!
That a brilliant route.Im a postman all along there , and always said I'd love to see all the charity shops hit.
City centre is brutal , everything is wiped out usually. The store in Talbot st is extortionate on his prices, hence he has stock years.
Great ramble around, looks like Rage etc are living off there website. There display is pokey and could be amazing with space.
Keep up the ramble , great to watch 💪💪💪
Thanks so much for checking it out! Yeah it’s a pity would love to see them in a bigger space. Suppose with the costs nowadays for leasing and overheads it’s sadly not likely. But yeah some crazy prices in that first stop don’t think there’s any research done just slap something on it and hope for the best!
Gamexchange & Bookmart’s prices are a bit overpriced alright but they have a good selection.
The RAGE hasn’t been the same since it moved from Crow Street, used to love going in there but it’s a bit cramped in their Temple Bar location with not much to view.
Great video👍🏻
Cheers for checking it out! Yeah such a pity would love to see what they could do with a bigger footprint. Nature of it at the moment I suppose must cost a fortune to be in the space they’re in as it is! Yeah defo nice stuff to look at in Bookmart. Some odd pricing but again it’s hard to keep the doors open these days definitely a place to go to fill gaps in the collection some nice bits in there!
I'm no stranger to the city centre but rarely swing into these shops so interesting seeing your routes boyo, nice video.🎮🏙☘️
Cheers mate. There’s probably a reason they don’t get visited that much of this one was anything to go by! But only when you hit them all in a row you realise how close together and easy to pop in and out of they are! Never know when it might be the right day to go for a look! 🇮🇪
Thank you for info! Always nice to see landscapes of Ireland!
Thank you as always for checking it out. More road trips soon show off more of the country!
Good one..., 👍..., and You got proper Dublin weather as well 🍀🍻
No rain thank for but had the rain jacket just incase 😂
Very informative video, pity to come away empty handed. I never bother checking charity shops when I’m in the city centre anymore , never find anything unfortunately, runs up the parking meter as well 🤣 - looking forward to the video next week and then we’ll be set for IGM
Cheers mate! Yeah wasn’t expecting to find much from it to be honest. Thought maybe some of the ones a bit out of the way might have one or two but not on this occasion! Did find a few bits in a video a while back in a couple of the ones on Caple St but wasn’t anything crazy in there!
Great vid! I just found you and I subbed :)
Sadly over the last 2 years, finding games in charity shops in Dublin (at least) has been very difficult. And if you find some they are all charging €7 or more for Fifa's and basic stuff that are dirt cheap in CEX.
They all seem to check Ebay and CEX Amazon prices and mark them up from those prices, for stuff they get for FREE, drives me crazy.
I know they are charities and have to make money as best they can, but my Vinnys in Rush has a few common games on the shelves for the last year priced €10 or more, no one is buying them. Take the hint, mark them down to €2 or €3 and get the stock moving out.
They had some fake GBA Carts (maybe 5 or 6, Mario advance game, LttP, Metroid etc) in one of the glass cabinets a few months back charging near €20 each, they sat there forever. Must have moved them to another store, cause I doubt anyone bought them at that price, each.(Also they had a big box copy of Zool for the Amiga at €20, I don't collect for Amiga, so was unsure about it, but it did look in good condition at that time.)
Same with CD's and DVDs, in St. Vincent's, they only started putting them out for 5 for €1 and they are moving now, but up until a few months ago, they were all €1 each.
1000s to go through now.
I just stick with CEX for my games, I drop into the one on Liffey St when I'm in the office at my lunch, can be expensive but sometimes you can find a great deal in there.
Pity Gamestop, Game and the other game shops are gone now. Smiths Toys is always worth a checking out too.
Sorry for the rant lol.
Keep up the great work!
Ah don’t get me started haha! Like I’m all for them trying to get what they can as long as they look at it every now and then would keep me coming back to see if the price has changed!
I’ve been in that Vincent’s in rush so no one exactly what you’re talking about! Think I’ve had it in 3 videos now first time i actually caught them slipping on a couple of ps 1 games ( probably because no cex prices to reference). But not even prices close enough to say well it in great condition and a couple quid cheaper so I’ll give them the money instead of cex prices are way over!
Shame there’s not any competition around for the game shops alright. Keep on eye on www.theretrogamongstore.com he has a store in Wexford. Decent prices on a lot of stuff and explains condition for everything and easy to chat to on private message if there’s anything you’re after!
Thanks for checking out the channel hopefully keep enjoying the videos I try my best to get them out as much as I can. It’s getting harder to find stuff to show though!
Dublin City centre charity shops giving Waterford a good run for its money with regards games in charity shops!
😂😂 picked up / seen pretty much the same amount in my visits to both 😂
There's like 5 charity shops in my town of Ennis but none of them have had games in a very long time. BGOllie used do videos looking through them every now and then but it was 99% bad PS2 games like Singstar and sports titles so I think he got rid of them all in the end.
Certainly if you want music CDs or DVDs there's gems to be found.
Don’t plan a road trip out that way so!! Yeah it’s getting tougher but still some odds and ends coming up locally. Defo the only way to go with charity shops now though anything in a town or city can be very hard to spot anything
Very good and informative video. Next time I'm in Dublin I'll know where I can do a game hunt.
Thanks! Yeah just thought it could narrow it down for anyone coming for a look around hopefully it helps!
Nice vid, I think you should have included a few liquid refreshment stops along the way tho! 😂👍🍻
Haha! I’m on the dry at the moment or that definitely would have featured! Maybe a more comprehensive one in the future with actual food stops and auld festive special or something like that!
Cheers for that. Learned a few new places to check out.
No bother I’m sure there’s a couple I missed will re visit it for a Christmas special or something later in the year!
Ah man this is awesome I m gonna do a game hunt next time I m over great video as always ☘️☘️🇮🇪
Cheers mate! Must do a VR one for people that are too far from home see how well that one goes down! 😂
@@RetroGamesIreland great idea ☘️☘️☘️☘️
Love your channel subbed. Less and less charity shops are stocking video games nowadays. I used to get a good few Xbox 360 and ps3 games a few years back but less so nowadays.
Thanks so much for checking it out! Yeah it’s getting rough out there but there’s still stuff to be found now and then. Almost makes it more rewarding when you come across something decent!
Spotted X-Men Next Dimension, love that game!!! 😁
Class game! Can’t remember where that was have to watch my own video now see where you spotted it haha!
Couple more charity shops around town.
On Bolton St there is a "friends of the elderly" and just down from there on Green St is a Macro charity shop which is Only open Mon-Fri
Must add them to the list for next time! Knew there’d be more I couldn’t see was relying on google maps on top of experience to put this one together!
Great guide of Dublins charity shops would be awesometo see you do a series of charity shops around ireland. I find the best places often have the lowest amount of ppl have the best stuff. When it comes to the actual video games I recommended searching the music cd as they could have pc games and wii game sleeves it can be time consuming but if you can get wii sports or wii sports resourt for 50 cent or a euro it's worth it also check ever case as ofter games are often never in their correct case. In the past I found a Mario ds game in a fashion ds case and other great scores. But I think the biggest thing to anyone new is consistency is key as it truly a number game the more you check the highter you chance of finding some decent games to keep or flip. Developing relationships with the staff also helps.
Good tips , however you need to be careful with transport costs , I see people spending nearly a tenners worth petrol driving around charity shops and might (after 2/3 hunts) find a Wii sports which you can get maybe €15 for but at that stage you’re still out money 🤣 - obviously it pays off if you get a big score but a lot of charity shops are starting to sell online now which doesn’t help , soon there will be no bargains
Consistency is definitely the key! Going over and over normally pays off but it usually happens right when you’re about to give up going to the same ones because you’re sick of them. The fear of missing out keeps you going too! I do tend to have a good root off camera have found the odd thing in the wrong case from time to time but unfortunately a lot of the time it’s an in and out job so god knows what sort of stuff I’ve left behind in the past! I am due an auld road trip must squeeze one in soon it’s the perfect time of year for it!
Tbh you'll be very lucky to find anything decent in charity shops these days, especially as there's more than likely a CEX nearby.
True that why you need to be strategic about the way you hunt for video games. If short on time avoided the bussier charity shops, only hit those up when you have more time. Consistency is key keep checking even if you feel it pointless. Look for video games in those places you wouldn't normally think to look like in the music dc section, just last week I found a childhood 90s pc game command and conquer tibrum sun duel case and wii sports in sleve and in the past have found other games in cd cases. The kids section could have n64 carts, amibos, or other video game stuff. Always check in side of the video games cases even the low value games like fifa as you might find a high value game in their place as ppl tend to put the wrong games in he cases as they are lazy. Most ppl looking for video games aren't ware of this as I always find video games this way even if it looks picked through it can take a bit of work rifling through everything but that what makes it fun when you find a decent game hidden away everyone missed. You can also look other suff up to flip like old toy cars, vinyl ect to fund your hobby.
Correct, I know a few charity shops that just bring their stock to the closest CeX to get instant cash to put through the till as a sale
Yeah it’s getting tougher alright. Still do pretty ok every odd week but wasn’t expecting much in this one if I’m being honest!
It's so sad with Rage, it used to be much bigger
Yeah such a shame would be nice if they had a bigger store again. Moss having somewhere big and local enough to have a browse around. Suppose it’s all down to the cost of everything these days must set you back a fortune to have a decent sized premises in Dublin
