1:04 I love how the captions kind of imply how the isopods in the fishes stomach is cute to them despite the isopods slowly destroying the fish carcass lmao

That colony looked tiny at the start, and then they all found the fish

Awesome video. Quick question maybe you'll be able to help me out. I've read that dairy cows are more protein driven than a generalist like powder blues. If i have both in a bioactive set up for a reptile will both thrive? Or will one dominate over the other? What do you recommend feeding a colony of about 20 before they have a chance to munch on the feces of the reptile inhabitant?

      Thank you!
My brother actually tried to have laevis dairy cow and pruinosus together, but little by little the laevis outcompeted almost all the pruinosus. You can test if you want, the result can vary depending on setup and maintenance. But in my experience laevis usually takes over anyway :)
In my newly started colonies, I feed protein-rich fish pellets or cooked mealworms about 1-2 times a week. The amount is difficult to estimate, I try not to give more than what the colony can eat in 24 hours.

How long did that colony take to get that large? Mine won’t breed for me, not like that at least

I've had it for 3-4 years now, but have sold quite a few in the meantime. Dairy cows reproduce quickly, so within 2 years you can probably get an equally large colony if you start with 8-12 individuals.

      @@insekteronline what about common garden-variety roly-polies
