- In this video, a very quick, efficient and simple method has been demonstrated for selecting light diffuser materials for any kind of DIY projects for your tabletop studio or outdoor photography, specially making of a radiant diffuser, flash diffusers, soft box etc.
These days all computer monitors, laptop monitors and TV screens are based on LED light inside. These LED lights need to distribute evenly thought viewing panel and it is done by a series of special plastic materials and couple of diffuser plastic sheets. In this video, I have shown these materials after opening a laptop monitor panel. This diffuser plastics are very good in making DIY light diffusers for macro photography, product photography, food photography on tabletop studio.
In this video, the performance testing method of different light diffuser materials are shown using very reflective stone and a glossy coin.
Diffuser materials for flash lights are essential components that serve to scatter and soften the emitted light, creating a more even and visually appealing illumination. These materials play a crucial role in controlling the direction, intensity, and distribution of light.
When selecting a diffuser material, for radiant diffuser, soft box, light box or any other DIY projects for macro photography or product photography, factors like light transmission, diffusion efficiency, impact resistance, and design aesthetics are considered to ensure optimal performance and visual appeal in different lighting applications.

Thank you. I opened a broken 24" TV and got 3 lovely diffuser sheets.
Excellent. Please make diffusers you need.
great video thank you my friend
Thanks for the visit
Looking forward to the next installment in the series
Please keep an eye. I will be on air in couple of days.
Thanks for that tip Dr Jalil. I have some old laptops here I was going to send to the recycling centre. Now I will retrieve the diffuser material first.
Please do!
Works from old lCD TV's too even bigger diffusion material. Or leave it intact remove LCD panel (if not cracked then tv is easy to repair anyway) but if it is cracked you can pull that out and leave yourself with a really great light desk (for tracing etc:) - with love and respect from Canada!
Thanks
Welcome
Thank you for the video!
My pleasure!
Gracias por la idea
De nada, You are welcome
Sir can 7.5mm mylar milky translucent blank sheet be used for light diffusion? Also qhich will be better in comparison 10mm mylar sheet or 7.5mm, hope you help me wid this, thankyou 😊
Mr. Dobra, thanks for your question. I would prefer 10 mil sheets, for diffuser. Please do not confused with mil to mm. 10 mm is different unit. The thickness of plastic or paper sheets are usually designated with "mil". Please try to 10 mil sheet. If you use flash, I would rather prefer white plastic sheets over mylar translucent sheet for better diffusion.
❤❤❤❤
See the practical outcome in the next video.
Can 10 mil Mylar Sheet Milky Translucent Stencil Sheet be used as diffuser ?
The answer is yes. But you could use it on temporary basis. It is not as strong as plastic diffusers found in LED laptop or monitors.
Thank you so much,I stole my class fellow's laptop and broke it and now I have perfect diffusion sheets☺️
Sherry, you don't have to steal. find a laptop repair shop around your place. They must have it for free.
@@dr.jalil.photography obviously i didn't do that, said it as a joke but thanks for the advice and the idea😂
you are welcome.
Where will get light diffuser material
You can get A4 size white plastic from plastic files, if you need a large one, try craft stores or DIY materials stores around your place. But for translucent plastics, you need to find out-of-order laptop monitors as I have shown in the video.
This is super brilliant i Can't believe i forgot seeing these sheets when dissasembling LCD tv's. Also FYI if your TV's LCD panel isn't cracked then IT'S NOT broken! atleast the display aspect is not and it's very easy to replace whatever functionality is that might be used to everything else in the TV is (most often) quite easily replaceable. The true value in the TV is the LCD panel so if that's not cracked... And please always do the right thing and NEVER throw away electronics post it for free explaining auick rundown of issues but that's not even critical it would be polite to put if the screen LCD panel was cracked tho. I've seen most thrown away TV's with intact LCD panels repaired by replacing a capacitor or two, same with MANY electronics actually! That's sorta the repair trades not so well kept dirty little secret, hehe. -with much love+respect from Canada.
Thank you Mr. Earth for your elaborate discussion about LCD's. I love to repair all my items as long as I can use it and I try to use their different parts in different ways.
