Easiest way to date the 40’s-50’s briggs is the back of the flywheel. It will have the year stamped on the back

Yes, I have seen that, now that you mention it. I was just being lazy about extracting the flywheel. :)

I like that old cast engine!

Yes, previously I would have left it at the scrapyard, but these engines are sure not getting any newer, and I figured I could always get spare parts off it, then it decided to un-stick, and turn over :)

That 4th engine is probably wondering what it did to deserve being left behind, like the last kitten left from a litter... :P

LOL, you are probably right. Luckily I retreived it last weekend, so I now have the Briggs Nsy twins :) Vid to follow.

I tell you what it's hard as it is to get a good carburetor for one of those motors nowadays that isn't just junk like the new ones from Amazon and Fbay not to mention gas tanks I try to pick up every gas tank I can find that's not write it out

Yes, I know what you mean, gas tanks like to rot out, I find the empty 1 pound propane tanks can be made to work. The filler cap is a bit of a pain, but they have worked on my FrankenBriggs engines.
